Extends your wetsuit temps another 5-10 degrees.
This is the first hood I've owned so I can't compare it to anything but I'm happy with it. I wear the bib under my wetsuit and it helped as a rash guard too as my wetsuit typically makes my neck itch that night and the next day. I own a 3/2 sealed wetsuit that's supposed to be good down to 60 deg water temps. Between the hood, gloves and boots (all 5mm thick) I was comfortable in 55 degree water kiteboarding in 20+mph winds. On a similar day I kited with the hood pulled down around my neck while I was wearing a helmet to video my session and that felt cold after 2 hours. Whenever I crashed cold with the hood down water rushed into my suit. In hind site if I wore it just around my neck again, I'd wear the bib outside my suit to prevent flushing. Even then after the skies partly cleared I warmed up. So given I could kite with the hood around my neck in 55 deg temps, I'd be willing to try 50deg water with the hood worn over my head. The air temperature was probably around 50deg. You'll want to make sure you flatten out the neck line when you seal the wetsuit around your bib/hood to prevent flushing. Size wise, I bought a large. I measured my head to be 22.75" in circumference. Every helmet I wear is a medium but I bought a large hood based on reviews. If your head is larger than mine, you could still get away with a large as I just cut my hair, and similar to tightening a baseball cap after getting a hair cut, if your head was 23.25 or even more, I'd think you'd still be comfortable. It's neoprene, it stretches. If you're buying this hood for the brim, it hardly matters. The brim is made of neoprene also and is so flat it might stick out a 1" in front of the hood so it doesn't do anything to block the sun. I suppose it gives a little style but it isn't functional. Knowing all this, I'd buy it again without hesitation.

so far so good
I spent a lot of money getting a really nice wetsuit and decided to go hyperflex on the hood as I am sick of spending money. Hyperflex is rumored to be a lower end product and not last as long. This may be the case, but it is working great for me. I surf an artificial wave built in the river in my town. That means there is constantly freezing water running over my head from the current while I am getting pulled into the wave. I am always completely dry when I take it off and it is not uncomfortable by any means, maybe a little tight under the chin. Signs of glue are showing. Seems like it will last if it's taken care of. On another note, if I were buying a whole wetsuit, I would definitely not by hyperflex unless I am desperate and broke.

hyperflex hood has poor shape
I was initially attracted by the fact that this hood has several characteristics that one can look for in a hood: draw-string, cap, bib that you can tuck and a good price. After receiving it in good time, I tried it on and the fit is mediocre. It is not meant to be worn over your chin because the hood doesn't really have a jaw/chin shape. Because of this, you are obliged to wear it under your chin in which case the drawstring pulls into your jaw which can be solved by removing the string which gives the face hole more elasticity. To conclude, despite having good characteristics, the hood has a poor head shape(especially in the jaw area). I would recommend finding a hood with a proper shape and all the characterstics this hood has. Fit is usually the most important thing with wetsuit wear to limit the amount of water that can find its way in.

like others the item is shipped FOLDED resulting in a ...
Is very warm and has practically zero flush. Could be a tad looser. im sure with use it will stretch out a bit. Only complaint, like others the item is shipped FOLDED resulting in a crease in the head bill....and ive tried several different things to stretch, press and re form the bill to an even curve..didnt work... the seller needs to correct their shipping methods. Otherwise i would have given the item 5 stars.

I'm not disappointed in the product though
thick enough to keep my head warm. it was a lot of neoprene to tuck into my existing wetsuit, so it did occasionally let water in. I'm not disappointed in the product though.

SUPER Tight, Works Decently For Now
Entire review summed up in title. My hat size: 7.25. Not one to think I have a large dome, so I purchased a Medium. Should have purchased the Large. Let me insist you choose a size larger than you expect, as the material will stretch back if it's slightly large (which is better than too-tight, as in my case). Seems warm enough for Lake Michigan waters up to December temps in Chicago-area waters. Enjoy the review and ride that wind.

Product Works but Chin Area is Not Comfortable
Overall the product does what it is supposed to do and is a true 5mm/3mm Bibb. Protection where it's important in the cold water. However I did find the chin area annoying and a bit too tight.

Warm, if a little tight around the chin area.
Gets the job done in 48 degree water. It will keep your head relatively warm, even when duck-diving under the waves.

Warm, fits well
Great hood, keeps we warm, the bib is nice and big and easy to tuck in. I've been using it to river surf, would definitely recommend it. I'm an average sized woman and I bought the medium, fits nicely.
