used part shipped as new
Seems to all be here. but the package has been opened and the grease is all over inside the bag. If I wanted used I could have bought used and paid less. Good product. Just don't like being hoodwinked.

READ THIS BEFORE CONDEMNING THIS AS THE WRONG PART!
Installed in a 1998 F150 standard cab without a factory towing package. No real problems encountered other than concerns caused by other reviewers stating that connectors don't match their trucks. Initially I thought it wouldn't work on my vehicle too. Near the back bumper was a round connector that someone had wired a universal 4 pin connector to. THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT LOCATION TO EXPECT THIS HARNESS TO CONNECT TO! It is a round connector with a 6 pin layout that only has 4 pins inside (possibly the part people are referring to when stating this doesn't match their truck). The correct connection location on my truck was on the driver's side frame rail, hidden by the spare tire. Before condemning this as the wrong part, crank down the spare and look for a large, rectangular connector at the location mentioned. Remove it from the frame and unplug the two ends. You will see it matches the connectors on this harness. Plug it in and route the 4 pin connector to exit near the trailer ball on your hitch or bumper. Don't forget to ground the white wire with the ring connector somewhere on the body or frame. (If you don't do this the trailer lights will be quite dim.) There are a couple of factory holes drilled into the sheet metal and I found a screw that fit one in my garage. Overall the item is well constructed and low cost. Better info in this listing would have been helpful. A bracket to retain the 4 pin connector would have been nice. Better instructions might have saved me the 30-45 minutes research time need to figure all of this out.

Worked perfectly for my 2003 F-150
This connector worked perfectly for my 2003 F-150. As someone else has said in their review, you have to lower your spare tire to find the proper connection. The first photo is of the first connector you will see without lowering your tire. It has a round housing and the connector will not fit it. The second photo is of the connector with the square housing which fits this one. Third photo is of the installed connector. Mine was on the driver side of the spare tire cavity.

Works Perfectly!
Worked perfectly on my 1997 Ford F-150. This wiring harness connects to the lead wire that travels along the frame rail on the driver's side. It appears that many folks that gave this item a poor review were trying to plug it into the taillight harness. My truck has a factory installed tow package (the tow lighting plug has become problematic), and this did the job. It gave me a brand new wiring plug to bypass whatever issues lie in the original tow wiring. Now my boat trailer has very bright, reliable lights! Very happy with this purchase.

The best way to fix this problem is to go to ...
Even though the web sight said it fit a 2004 F150 it does not fit all. Ford quite making the plug that was on mine. This wiring harness that I received from amazon has a square plugs on each end. The one I needed had a square plug on the power supply side and a round plug at the tail light. When I tried to contact about a exchange I did not get one a response from amazon or the amazon store . SO IF YOU BIE SOMTHING FROM THEM THAT IS NOT RIGHT YOU OWN IT. I have a $80 dollar harness in my garage that I will never use. The problem with my harness was that I had a short to ground on a boat trailer. The plug on the power side has fuse links in it. It had burnt the running lights fuse. This causes you not to get power to your trailer plug . Do not use jumpers from tail light wires to supply power to your trailer plug . The fuse links are there for a reason. This coasted me over $450 dollars at the Ford dealer ship. I could not even turn my head lights off without unplugging the battery. The best way to fix this problem is to go to your favorite auto parts store and buy a fuse link. It coasted me $4 and change . It is a small wire that you will attach from your tail light wire to your trailer plug wire. I recommend quick splices over but connectors it does a lot neater job. The wire will act as a fuse and burn into when a short to ground accurse. I have spent over $600 on this repair I hope this information will keep you from making the same mistakes that I did.

Go for the used one!
I bought this item as "used" hoping that it was just a return because it did not fit. Well, I couldn't be happier! This item was selling for $20 new and $3 used. The box was opened but everything was there and the item looked new! Don't be afraid to buy a used one if they have them... And yes the item plugs in and works perfect, all wires are they correct gauge and wrapped very well. This pigtail should outlast the truck by far!
