Great Halter but way too big.

This halter is a very well-made halter, but I ordered a calf halter. Thanking it would fit my son’s bottle calf. It’s way too big but it will be great when the calf gets bigger. To me if something says it’s for a calf I would expect it to fit a small calf. This halter is huge on my son black Angus calf. I decided to keep it because it was good quality and because it will fit when the calf gets bigger. So if you order this Anna, the size for a calf just know it’s going to be too big if the calf isn’t probably 4 to 5 months old, it’s entirely way too big for any newborn calf and up to two months old. We are hoping it fits her in the next couple of months, but I was we were not expecting it to be so big it look to fit more of a yearling, not a small calf.

exc quality, accurate size

Superior Hamilton quality as expected - I have used this brand over many years, quality is always excellent. Size is accurate - bought this for my six month old angus/jersey steer - he outgrew his baby halter. This one will fit him fine for the rest of his happy days!

Great quality

Great quality , I tied my black angus to a huge log when she escaped while I fixed the fence and she went bonkers , tore up a bunch of stuff dragging that log around , but the halter looked like brand new , highly recommend

Sizing is inaccurate and confusing.

Really nice-looking halter. Heavy brass hardware, rich color to the nylon webbing. Would have rated it much higher if the company had given a size range, or approximate ages for each size. As it is, my eight week old calf is nowhere near able to fit in the "calf" sized halter. I suspect it will be half a year before she can wear it. I will keep it and wait. I knew I was taking a chance, but I am still disappointed.

Love it!

Loving this halter on our two year old polled Hereford bull. He's about half way up/down the buckle options so still has room to grow. This would NOT have fit the 2,500 pound senior bull that we just shipped. I probably will buy a couple more of these for my larger cows. My bull completely disapproves of the halter not letting him rub it easily off his nose and escape. Mischief managed!

Worth it!!

It was a little small when we got it for our calf but we added a couple holes to make it fit. It is very durable. She has now outgrown it so I will be buying one a bigger size

Good for yearlings/2 year olds tops, will not fit mature bulls

Nice halter, well made; definitely would not fit a mature bull. Would probably be fine for yearlings and possibly 2 year old bulls, or smaller breeds. I have a 4 year old Holstein steer that doesn’t fit in the large cow sized halters anymore, so I ordered this for him, but it’s a good 6” too short, I can’t even get the ends close enough to try to buckle it. I’m hanging onto it as I do have a jersey that it may fit later on, or if I have another animal that would fit it later. It did not work for my needs but would probably be an excellent choice for younger animals or smaller breeds. :)

Paßt niemals einer Kuh

Ich habe dieses Halfter für eine Braunvieh Kuh gekauft. Mir hat die Farbe gut gefallen. Im Halfter ist auch ein Etikett eingenäht woraus ersichtlich ist, dass es auch wirklich ein Kuhhalfter sein soll.Es hätte ja auch bei der Lieferung aus Versehen eine falsche Größe verschickt sein können.Fakt ist, dieses Halfter paßt definitiv keiner "normalen" , ausgewachsenen Kuh! Der Maulbereich ist passend, wenn nicht sogar etwas weit, aber das Halfter ist viel zu kurz und läßt sich deshalb nicht schließen.Da fehlen locker 15 cm!!!Das ist sehr schade und ärgerlich, da die Verarbeitung wirklich einwandfrei ist.Vom Material her handelt es sich durchaus um eine gute Qualität.Leider habe ich das Halfter einmal probiert anzulegen und kann es daher nicht zurück schicken.Hätte ich auf die englischsprachigen Rezensionen geguckt, wäre mir diese Erfahrung erspart geblieben. Ergänzung: Zum Vergleich: Neben dem Hamilton "Kuh" Halfter liegt ein Standard Kuhhalfter Größe 1, welches man in sehr vielen Agrarfachhandeln bekommt!

Too large for new calf

I ordered this for my jersey bull calf, but it could be adjusted to fit his mom better than him. It seems to be made well though, just not the size for a small calf
