Very useful but the bottom falls off a lot.

This is really useful for grating ginger or garlic. The turning mechanism is also good for collecting the gratings so you can use them. The bottom comes off on its own sometimes but not too big a deal. It can be a little hard to clean the fibers off. Generally a good product.

Moha Ginger Grater 4" Black plastic

The grater does exactly what it is supposed to do and does it well. The plastic is a bit flimsy feeling and now thinking I should have ordered the stainless steel one (which is more than double the price of the plastic.) The grating blades are extremely sharp, and I do wish it would come with a cap to cover the blades, reaching for this in a kitchen drawer could result in a scrape!

This grater/zester is the very best I have very found. A must-have!!

In the past, I have used the traditional grater/zester that are the long strips, and actually have a few different sizes. Most recently, I have been trying more oriental cooking that uses ginger. When using the grater/zesters I have, the grated ginger would stick to the underside of the grater, and had to be removed with caution. In addition, the ginger could be grated in only one direction. Once the grated or zested food was scraped from the underside of the grater, cleaning of the tool was difficult and care had to be taken so as not to be cut while cleaning it. The MOHA grater is a game changer and it is so very much easier to use and clean. I, personally, freeze my ginger root so I have it when I need it. I have found the easiest way to use this grater is to break off a large piece of the root, peel the end section of it, and run it over this grater in a circular motion. This grater grates an amazing amount of grated ginger with little pressure in a very short time. When you are done grating, rotate the top disc to remove the grated ginger from the grater. When you open it, all of the grated ginger is in the bottom of the unit. All you need to do is spoon out the amount you need. Cleaning this grater is a breeze. Simply use the spray nozzle on your sink to clean it and nothing sticks in the grater. As for storage and the danger of being cut, this hasn't been a problem for me. I keep it in a drawer, and don't think it's I am likely to get cut on it any more than other grater/zesters I have. In conclusion, I love the grater/zester and would highly recommend it. This is definitely my go-to grater for ginger and zesting citrus such as lemons. I think garlic cloves are to small to be grated with this grater without a lot of waste. I use a garlic press to mince garlic. UPDATE 7/11/22: Today I made a recipe for Greek chicken that suggested garlic cloves should be grated, and not minced as I would normally do. The reason for this is that grated garlic is finer and would dissolve into the marinade so it wouldn't burn when the chicken was cooked. I used this grater to grate 7 cloves of garlic and it worked great without grating my fingertips. The garlic did dissolve into the marinade with no chunks and the recipe turned out wonderful. To grate the garlic cloves with little waste, I used the back of the tines of a fork to push the last of each garlic clove over and through the grater. By doing this, there was very little waste of garlic, and I didn't have to worry about cutting my fingers. This is my new favorite way to add garlic to recipes. The garlic flavor is mixed into recipes so much better. I hope this review was helpful for you. I will update this review if my opinion changes or I find more uses for it.

After decades of searching, I finally found what I was looking for!

I love ginger, but had given up on finding a ginger grater which worked well. I was so dubious that any of them worked that I put this on a shopping list and tried to forget about it. I'm really sorry I didn't get it as soon as I saw it. It works perfectly! Ginger grates easily, falls into the chamber or comes off the bottom of the grating surface with a sweep of the self-cleaning blade, and actually ends up in the food I'm cooking. The taste and aroma are so much better than the grated ginger in jars, and very easy to cook with. The only thing it lacks is a cover for the grating surface. I solved that by putting a widemouth mason jar cover over it, and holding it in place with two thick rubber bands. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.

Extremely annoying design. The bottom piece doesn't stay on, they totally could have designed this so that not only would the bottom stay on, but it could have been designed to also be a cover for the microwave during storage. As it is, you have two pieces that you will end up rubber banding together so as not to lose parts. And the grinder is awful. The blades going in all directions makes it impossible to clean. I've been trying to replace a small grater that was grater, container, and lid, all in two simple pieces (stainless steel bowl and plastic flip cover over grating surface.) I lost that one and have been using a wand shaped microphone grater since then. But have been looking for one similar to the one I lost. This was not it. There is literally no advantage of this particular model over a wand grater, so don't even bother. I wouldn't keep this if it was a freebie!

Easy to use and clean

I rated this one a four previously as it seemed to take a long time to grate ginger although it did a fine job. However, I have since found you can grate the ginger faster if you tip the ginger so that it grates an edge first, then grate the other edge and then the middle. With this in mind I give it a 5.

I've always had problems grating ginger using my old grater and bought this one based on a recommendation by Milk Street. It works exactly as advertised. It cleans up easily and I especially like the collector tray in the bottom.

Hit n miss

I kept the item but not pleased with it, was broken in box, has I need one ASAP I glued it together and works well now so my stars are after fixing it.
