Versatile, but not for freezing weather!
This is a decent piece(s) of all-weather gear. All the zippers function smoothly on mine, including the ones that connect the liner to the shell. Nice, precise seams, and fit as expected. The numerous features and adjustments remind me of a well designed tent or camping backpack. Both the shell and liner have a total of 4 practical pockets each that I've seen, and are very gloved-hand-friendly, and any of them will take my largest phone with a bulky case. The jacket is louder than canvas to wear, but quieter than nylon. The reflective inner side of the liner seems to be tougher than it looks, as the cat decided to climb up it. A couple tugs, and the fibers all went right back in order. Feels softer than you'd think, too. It has shrugged off hours of drizzle/light rain, and importantly, night time dew, which can reduce your clothing's effective insulation more then you expect. I haven't yet tried it in heavy rain, but perhaps I'll update later on how it fares. A few things to take note of: This isn't a winter coat. Don't count on it to keep you warm in freezing weather without help. I ended up separating the liner and wearing a whole other jacket under the shell.(December nights were brutal) There's a little strap on the back of the hood. You'll want to adjust that to keep the hood from hanging too far over your head and blocking your sight, but far enough that it keep the rain off your face. The hood really isn't insulated, so if you're losing too much heat, wear a something like a balaclava under the hood. Really comfortable combo.

Nice jacket with a couple of shortcomings
The quality and workmanship are typical of Columbia standards and the fit is great. I would not want the jacket for extreme cold but it is more than sufficient for the Maryland climate. Would like to have a 2 way zipper. My previous Columbia 3 way jacket was much warmer and addressed all of my complaints with this jacket. My complaints as mentioned in other reviews are: 1. The inner lining in the sleeves has to tucked back into the shell at the cuff every time the jacket is worn even though the liner is attached to the shell. 2. The main zipper pin box is too small and if the pin is not fully inserted into the pin box it easily comes out after the zipper is zipped. 3. The back of the liner is not attached to the shell and frequently rides up when putting the jacket on.

It would have been a 5... But
I like the jacket overall. There's just a problem with sizing. It was bigger than the sizing chart indicated. It's not so much as problem with me. I'll just keep it for now. If I do need another one. I'll just get the smaller size.

quite cheapened version of the original
Bought this sight unseen figuring the Bugaboo II would be better than the original Bugaboo coat that I had for years. Mistake. Pros: A little longer than the original and added a hood. Cons: The shell material lighter than the original,. The fleece liner lighter than the original. Zippers are now cheap plastic instead of metal. The coat zipper is much less robust and more suited for a light casual sweater. The fleece liner no longer has nylon layer in the sleeves which makes the coat difficult to put on with any kind of shirt or sweater unless the garment is made of some very, smooth and slippery fabric. Learned a lesson that just because the original was good does not necessarily mean that the "improved" version is any good.

great jacket so far
I have really enjoyed this jacket. It is light yet has kept me warm even when the temps go below zero. I do wish there was restraints to keep the inner layer attached to the outer layer at the sleeves. Can be annoying to get off sometimes.

Highly recommend for warmth, comfort, & value.
Great jacket, very warm, very comfortable, and the build quality was excellent. I’ve had two other Columbia coats in the last 20 years & this is as warm and the quality is on par. It seemed thinner than my other jackets were at first glance & it is However, it’s every bit as warm or even warmer due to the heat reflection technology on the inside lining. I live in Minnesota & this jacket is a match for the extreme cold days of zero degrees & breezy. I’m usually an XL & it fit true to my size with room for a hoody underneath. The sleeves are the proper length has well. The cuts & collar are very comfortable on the skin. Love the patterned fleece liner which looks, feels, & fits great by itself. As other reviewers mentioned, the fleece liner pushes out the sleeve a bit when you throw the jacket on & requires being tucked back in. It also hangs up slightly when you pull the jacket off. I bought this Columbia Bugaboo II & the aColumbia Whirlibird at the sam time off Amazon paid $55 for each. I like them both very much & find each of them worth that bargain price. Wouldn’t pay over $100 for either. I think the Bugaboo is nicer two jacket option as I like the appearance of the liner better than the bland puffy liner in the Whirlibird. However, I think as a full winter jacket the Whirlibird is a better all around in features, comfort, & bang for your buck. Bugaboo has no inside zip pocket & no powder skirt. Whirlibird has both, & zippered pit vents & doesn’t have the liner pushing/dragging nuisance when putting on & taking off. However, I liked them both so much & got such a great deal, I’m keeping both. The bugaboo as a “to & from work” jacket & the Whirlibird as an everything else jacket. Note that they are a bit wrinkled & creased out over the shipping package from amazon which threw me at first. I willed & hand pressed/stretched the exterior with generous amounts of the hottest water I could get out of the tap & it released the wrinkles in both jackets. I would buy both again & recommend both as well.

Light weight and waterproof.
Used this jacket for light snow hikes and it's perfect. With the fleece liner and the outershell you can keep pretty warm but idk if you could use it for skiing but snowball fights it could definitely handle. Also if you get too warm you can remove the fleece and just wear the outer shell, perfect for rainy days that aren't too cold.

Good jacket
I'm disappointed that it doesn't include a two way zipper and I'm disappointed the sleeve cuffs on the liner aren't adjustable.

Spring and Fall Interchangeable Jacket
This jacket arrived at the promised time and was a very good fit. It is quite suitable as a spring and fall jacket. I was surprised that the fabric on the sleeves of the lining was not made of a smooth material.. Normally I wear a sweater with the jacket. The combination of a sweater and 'rough' material of makes it a little clumsy when putting-on the jacket. I wish the draw string for the hood included a better quality fastener

Excellent produit
Really a Big Man's Coat
Well made, large in the shoulders, long so covers the butt, only wish it had a 2 way zipper and more pockets on the exterior coat part other then that it is doing good in Canada's North! Very Happy with it.

Warm, fits great
I'm a tall, Rubinesque woman. The jacket is long in the sleeves and body. The only critique is that the jacket zipper is flimsy where the rest of the jacket is very sturdy. I love that it is truly an all weather jacket for the west coast in winter.
