OMGosh. Gemini needs to sell a Power Bank that mates with it too. READ on.
Newset Update 17June 2021: Gemini sent me a direct link to a power bank rated to work with this cable and the Go. I bought it being I really did want to have a smaller power bank than the 3 options I did have. However it arrived today. It failed and did exactly what the Rosmoss power bank had done. The light turns on when you push the on button on top but the motor does not run. Plug it directly with AC cable to wall or my three AC outlet power banks and it runs fine. Plug in the cable booster to same outlets but with the addition of an 18 or 24 watt adaptor usb charger and again it runs fine. So the failure is with this cable and the Go itself. Not saying there isn't some USB power bank that will run this but todate NOT even the one that the customer service directly linked me to. And by the way a side note the Ravpower power bank they linked to is not available on Amazon for sale today despite just arriving today and so I can't leave a review about it either. And it cost 35 dollars. And they used to have 3 other models all on same page and they are gone too. Amazon what are you doing to and for your customers? Really do not buy this unless you lose your original black AC cable. Then you can use this with an adaptor AC to USB 18W and larger as a substitute cord. But only to full AC power not USB actually. UPDATE. This still does not work with the USB sockets period NOT ONE. on the ROCKSOLAR RS650 444Wh Lithium Battery, 400W Heavy Duty AC, this larger power bank is pure sine so it should have no issues. I finally managed to get it to work via USB KIND OF. I used an AC adaptor 18W quick charge adaptor at that. So using the Rocksolar's AC port I attach the adaptor then insert the USB plug into the adaptors USB port. And then and only then would it run. The smaller Rocksolar was delayed so I just hope it works the same way. Not happy because by switching to AC outlet via the adaptor I'm still using more energy than direct USB to Gemini Go would pull. It won't make a difference in that I doubt the smaller Rocksolar is going to be drained any given time using it and certainly not the larger 400W one let alone my Goal Zero 1400. HOWEVER Gemini GO has never got back to me after saying they would via Emails and asking to provide me with a specific list and or links to Power Banks that will run the Gemini Go with this adaptor booster. And since they have not and since I managed to make it work so I can take it on the road via the use of an adaptor for really LARGE power banks that come with AC outlet ports that's kind of defeating the purpose. Yes I did test the same USB quick charge adaptor directly to my AC here at home and yes it worked too. But many people are going to be too afraid to try these things because they don't grasp the finer details of how all these things work or don't. (Voltage and wattage and pure sine verses modified and AC to 12V or 12V to AC or add in USB and hey sadly few people are going to figure it out. Meantime I did. And it'll allow me to go portable or use outside under my covered patio come summer where I have no AC outlets via the USB to AC adaptor addition to the end of this booster cable and one of my three HUGE solar powered power banks all lithium batteries and all with AC outlets which is not what this item implies.) (PS I did follow the link by the reviewer who said their smaller power bank bought here on Amazon worked. It is not available. And reading it's stats it's identical to at least 4 of my smaller power banks from 10,000 to 30,000 that did turn the light on the Gemini but wouldn't run the motor.) For all of this I give it 2 stars. It was wasted money spent on item that falls short of what it CLAIMS and I can just plug it directly into my three large solar charged power banks to AC. So I wasted 11 dollars and see it's jumped in price today. Bought the Gemini Go because it could go portable with Power Banks. OOPS not so fast as other buyers mention too. Even when you buy a power bank that SHOULD Be compatible it may not be. I have over half a dozen power banks from 10,000 to 30,000. At last three of each size actually and some very top brands. Not one worked despite at least one 20,000mAh battery and all 3 of the 30,000mAh battery packs should have met the requirements. Now the interesting thing is the LIGHTS came on when I turned it on and the buttons lit up. SO what's the problem. MOTOR does not turn. So it's making connection but no go. I've since ordered a more expensive power bank which actually is not supposedly as strong as any of my 30,000mAh batteries but cost double even closer to triple the price I'd spent on an individual one. It most likely will mate and run the Gemini. It'd down fall is it weighs over 3 pounds maybe closer to 4. And if it won't work with this adaptor the new one also has an AC port or outlet so I can use the cord that comes with it. I am hoping that I can use this adaptor however because it'll be more energy efficient. In case you are like me frustrated that this Gemini is sold to run most Power banks with capabilities listed and it doesn't here is the brand I just ordered yesterday. ROCKSOLAR WEEKENDER RS81 88Wh, 80W PEAK 120W just copy paste in your Amazon search above and you should locate it and there are other choices out there for similar products. I went with this one at 10 dollars off yesterday but today I do not see that offer. I also took advantage and purchased their BIG Rocksolar model 400W. I have a Goal Zero 1400W solar batter so why go down in W's. The 1400 GZ fails to keep my dometic 27Qt freezer working if it dips below 87% power of all things. It's a glitch or as GZ told me it's a compatiblity issue. BIG deal for me. I struggle every year to top it off at 100% daily when camping only by morning it's often dropped below. If wildfire smoke rolls in or ove cast days for two or more move in I can't keep it topped off to prevent problems. SO the NEWER technology of these small solar powered batteries (& or AC too) have fixed this little problem. So I may even buy two but for now want to double check it out before buying a second. Also they had it at 100 dollars off yesterday. ROCKSOLAR RS650 444Wh Lithium Battery, 400W Heavy Duty AC, USB, DC So you can check that out too. And YES it will easily run the Gemini Pro again with or without this adaptor which should be helpful. It was off 100 dollars yesterday and today still is. They also make other sizes in between this smaller one and the larger 400 watt one. But to note the smaller one is not purse friendly for size and weight. But still quite portable and for my choices of wanting it to be portable to go camping it's a good option and I have other items I use and four different portable solar panels that can charge any and all of these power banks so I'm happy to have a solution. Yes I did want something smaller than digging out my GZ 1400W battery that weighs around 60 pounds and is rather HUGE so not all that portable. The small Rocksolar will meet my personality and style of life just fine. Maybe not for plane travel but by car, train etc. it's good and with a decent tote on wheels or not it's not that heavy I can't manage even in my 70's. NOTE I contacted Gemini Directly via their webpage. They sent out the obligatory got your back statements and would answer soon. I asked them if they could direct me to the HSN version used on their HSN and many Youtube demonstration videos showing that this cable booster works but they haven't answered to date. I suggested if they want to make the claims they work with most powerbanks then they should perhaps offer that POWER BANK for sale so no one wastes money on this cable who can't afford to drop 60-100 more dollars just to get a compatible version that actually will run the motor. Just showing the lights on the buttons isn't good enough.
