Impossible to mount

I don't usually write reviews here, but I felt it necessary to convey my experience with this product. I ordered two of these at two different times. Remodeling was taking place in my apartment and we ordered the first one just to test the "look". As the bathrooms neared completion (after suffering MANY CoViD-19 related delays) we ordered the second one as we liked the look of the product when held up to the wall. Then came time to install... The bracket that screws to the wall and the towel rack mounts to just did not work. First off, the bracket is surrounded by curved edges (as shown in the photos) which prevented the towel rack from ever getting a good "lock" on the bracket. My contractor tried over twenty times between two of these racks on two different walls and could not get a single attempt to stay on the wall. As we tried to tighten the set screw that holds the rack to the bracket, the bracket was not thick (deep) enough and the set screw would ride up the front of the bracket and push the towel rack off the wall. This ended up doing a lot of damage to my newly remodeled and newly painted walls! Secondly, the metal of the mounting point of the towel rack is very soft and in fact the "hooks" that are intended to grab hold of the wall bracket got bent, chewed, smoothed, etc. further leading to the inability to stay on the wall. Finally, as shown in the photos, the mounting bracket when properly seated in the towel rack housing is nowhere near flush with the housing. This again is why the set screw rode up the front of the bracket every time we tried to tighten it. I ended up having to purchase two Gatco 4070 towel bars. These are just single towel bars with no shelf. The brackets that came with them were a different style!!! On a whim, I tried attaching the 4077 towel rack to those new brackets. Again, the towel rack would NOT attach to the wall. The set screw rode up the front of the bracket and pushed the rack off the wall. At this point, it could have been that the soft metal had been so deformed from so many attempts that it may not hook to any bracket. But my feeling is that the housing on the towel rack is too deep to allow the set screw to grab ANY bracket. As a side note, it is IMPOSSIBLE to find just brackets to mount towel bars of any kind. Nobody sells just the brackets. In the end, I am only able to return one of the two towel racks I purchased because the time limit on returns has elapsed for the first purchase. So I'm out $85 plus the damaged paint and scratches in my newly remodeled bath rooms. Lesson learned, I guess. Let me say that other than the mounting problems with the 4077 Towel rack, I have found the Gatco "Elevate" line to be a decent line of products. I now have four of their 4070 towel bars, a couple of hand towel rings, a couple of TP holders and the glass shelf. The products all look VERY good, have a nice finish, are lightweight but seem to be durable. I'm not complaining about any of that, just the mounting problems with the 4077 Towel rack.

Good value

Great value from my vantage point. Nice style like a high end hotel. A little flimsy but looks great in place. Saw the same rack much more expensive elsewhere Way...... over priced.

easy to intall for DYI's

Easy to install for DYI's No template for drilling holes, you have to hold the rack up and draw around the brackets. Hard for 1 person, but after a couple of attempts I got it. Looks nice once its up.

Hotel quality

Sturdy and strong. It looks great in my minimalist guest bathroom. I also found matching security bar and it all looks great. Polished silver/ chrome cleans nice.

Good rack for over toilet

Better than Delta's but pricey . It is strong and doesn't sag.

Too expensive for what you get.

Great looking rack. HOWEVER ! The rack is made super cheap for what you pay and it came all tweaked and bent. Didn’t want the hassle of sending back so I straightened everything out and installed it
