Amazing. As others have stated, if u r using on a Porter cable, a small washer will need to be made to keep the blade tight on the arbor. Simple task to do.

Great replacement blade for old Freud Biscuit Cutter
This blade was much better than the original Freud Biscuit Cutter blade. Cuts so much better. Now I use the cutter more often since it cuts better than when I first purchased the Freud Biscuit Cutter. Great blade. Cuts smooth with no bogging down or burning.

Cuts clean.
You have to take your time on hardwoods, and when cutting into end grain on plywood, but otherwise it’s great.

Great blade and upgrade for the Porter Cable 557
You will need to make a spacer washer for the Porter Cable. I used a brass (easy to drill) washer and drilled it to size. This blade cuts like no other. The original Porter Cable blade would burn certain woods even when new and always left a small burr on the exit cut side. This blade cuts smother, doesn't leave a frayed corner on the exit cut side and plunges with no effort, much better than stock.

Great blade for biscuit joiner
Having read the reviews about the fit on the Porter-Cable 557 (which I own), I purchased this blade nonetheless. With my dial calipers, I measured the blade about 0.01 inches too thin to be held by the arbor nut and flange. One can easily get pre-cut shim stock for arbors to take that up. Myself, I used a piece of polyester-backed sandpaper scrap that easily measured twice that, trimmed it and easily snugged it down. A metal circular shim .875" ID and about 1.1" OD and .02 " thick would be great to include with the blade. On first use, I thought the blade was slipping, but it wasn't. It was just that sharp and quiet compared to the (admittedly worn) stock blade. Kind of giggled over the dramatic difference in cutting speed and quality. The only resistance I could feel was the return spring in the joiner itself. Cut several test slots in plywood and hardwood, and the biscuits all fit snug. Highly recommended. If you have a PC 557 joiner, fear not. Get the blade and a shim or follow the advice to grind down the arbor a touch, and get cutting.

This is a joke, right? Where's the punch line, Porter Cable?
Ordered it yesterday and it came today (thanks Prime). It's going on my Porter Cable 557 biscuit jointer (I have the version 2). Like others have already mentioned, the Freud blade is just a smudge thinner than the PC blade. I just used an air grinder to take about 1/128th off the shaft. Took longer for my air compressor to fill up than it did to knock off the edge. Quick, simple, and I was done. So, with the new Freud on, I tried cutting on a piece of maple. Man, does it cut nice! And I know it's not just a matter of my PC blade being dull as prior to putting on the Freud, I had put on, for the first time, my new 2" Porter Cable blade (which came with the 557) and it was just as hard to cut with as the 4" P.C. blade. So come on Porter Cable... where's the phone call / email / written letter telling us "April Fool's... we were joking with our oem blade and the new one is in the mail." Buy this Freud, NOW!

FANTASTIC blade!! Cuts smooth, perfect balance, but you'll need a shim for Porter Cable
I've used my Porter Cable biscuit joiner now for almost 40 years and this blade brought it back to life like nothing I've tried before. Fantastic blade, it even seems sharper than I remember the original - well, okay, that WAS 30 years ago; maybe I've forgotten. As the blade spins at 14,000 rpm it's perfectly balanced, too. BUT TAKE NOTE ... the hub IS thinner than the original PC blade. The cutting thickness is identical, but the body is 0.06" thinner. I used a 0.030" shim and it centered the blade perfectly in the original cutting plane, so I'm able to use my old fixtures without any adjustment. I'll definitely buy another one of these in another 30 years - if I'm still around.

Excellent blade, with nice, fat carbides, and smooth cutting performance.
The main reason I got this blade was due to it having large carbides that can handle multiple sharpenings (even though biscuit joiner blades shouldn't be sharpened...) and it has a raker design that seems thoughtful and purposefully-designed. The blade itself is very simple, just a sheet of chromed metal with carbides, but it works great in my Makita biscuit joiner. Much smoother than my old, dull blade.

Porter cable 555 replacement
It is well balanced, has decent sized carbides and allows biscuits to fit normally. The 7/8 “ shaft opening size fits perfectly but the plate is thinner than the original blade and needed .500 mm shim on each sides to clamp in snugly. I feel this is the correct option to go to since the discontinuation of the original. It is a good blade for the cost in comparison to the original if it can even be found.
