Made a great box.
An eye opener of a box assembly. Great smooth appearance along with appreciation of very strong assembly. Sweet. Very strong lid, sides and bottom that are slim along with, all the board strength used. No slippage.

Go Slow and Use Soft Dry Wood, Have a Fantastic Router Table, and Maybe It Will Work Great for You!
This bit is definitely tricky to set up, however it can produce a nice joint. If you have very soft wood and only a few joints to make, it may work out better for you than it did for me. I found that it dulled quickly doing end-grain joints in pine and clear vertical grain fir. I treated it very gently, not feeding too hard. By the time I got it tested, tweaked and ready to go, it was starting to go dull -- a very, very unusual occurance with any Freud product in my experience so far. It's possible that a lock miter cutter that has three blades instead of the two on this one, or a larger diameter, might stay cool and function well on harder woods, or woods that retain heat. No instructions were available on the Freud web site. The packaging also lacked documentation. I switched to a less desirable but faster and easier half blind locking joint that I can make quickly with a table saw and a quarter inch dato blade. This bit, and probably most bits of its fancy nature, require a really terrific, precision router table and fence setup to work well. A set of especially nice and expensive measurement tools for that router table will help. Cost to do that well gets into full-blown shaper territory money-wise fast. Most router tables will require a jig to hold the work piece perpendicular to the router table for one piece of the two piece joint. Be sure to study how your intended work pieces will need to pass the bit on your set up. It DOES make a very nice joint when all is dialed in, before it dulls.

Looks nice ' but Major inbalance -
The Freud - Miter Locking bit looks nice. I read through the directions for setup, to include the recommended RPM for the bit. Started up the router on the lowest RPM and my router sounded like it was going to exploded. Everything was vibrating and shaking. I immediately turned off the router. I went into troubleshooting mode, hoping it wasnt the bit. So I swapped bits, changed collets, started measuring run out, and about an hour later still nothing. The only "new" variable added to the mix was the Freud miter bit, which continued to vibrate everything. I will keep the bit in hopes to find a way to check its balance. But I would NOT recommend this product.

Excellent. Exactly what you'd expect from Freud.
Strong, accurate, razor sharp, non-stick coating. Exactly what you want. Keep in mind that lock miters are sold in different sizes based on wood thickness. I got this for 1/2 - 5/8 thick box sides. It will do 3/4" thick stock but barely. If you are planing your own 4/4 hardwood down to 3/4 you probably want the larger size bit to give you a margin for error.

I don't like it
As others have said, the setup is a pain in the butt. The first Few boards came out awesome. After about 15 board feet it started tearing out really bad. Cleaned it, sharpened it. Still crap. Maybe it's the pine, maybe it's me, who knows. I like to think I am getting pretty good at setting up and using my router table. This is the 2nd most I've spent on one bit. If I could send it back I would. I will not be keeping this, it's going in the trash. Too much headache for the price and poor results.

Well made
A little tough to figure out how to use it, but worth the effort. Well made and makes a great joint.

Works like a charm!
It's easy to set up. I struggled for hours with a cheaper bit that wouldn't do full 3/4 inch lumber until I figured out it just not made for it. You pay decent money and you get a good quality product. Nuff said!

Freud Quality
Waiting to still try it, but assuming it works as well as all their other bits, then I am very happy with my purchase.

Price and quality
I wish it would have a setup jig
