I should have bought these years ago.

I didn't realize how good Forstner bits could be until I bought these. I always bought Freud bits from Home Depot and thought they were good. When I tried these, I couldn't believe how much better they are. They cut beautifully, with almost no effort at all.

NOT as advetrized - NO FLAT sides in bit shanks.

The description explicitly states bits have 3 flattened sides, mine DO NOT have them. Another reviewer said the same thing, NO flat sides. It appears that Amazon knows about this description error and doesn't care to fix it.

wrong bits, wrong box

On Dec 1 I purchased a set of bits on Amazon because the listing showed hex shank forstner bits. The set that arrived was not what was pictured. I needed a hex shank forstner bit for a specific job and I had heard on Stumpy Nubs youtube that these bits are the best. I looked up the video and followed the affiliate link to find the Amazon choice set of 7 bits was exactly what I was looking for. The bits are smooth shank so they won't fit in the tool I have that fits in the tight space necessary to cut the hole I bought these bits for. Additionally, the box is a downgrade from the one pictured in the listing. My box has a single support and the smallest three bits are loose and rattle around. The smallest bit is weighted so I need to hold it in place while closing the lid. I haven't decided yet if I should return these bits. They arrived a day late so I missed the job I bought them for. I already have a set of forstner bits, I'm sure these are a great upgrade but I just don't know if these are worth the $118. PS another review criticized the make of the box, mine looks like decent quality, it's just poor design.

Expecting something different

I just received these today and once I looked at them they were very small. I guess I was expecting them to be bigger. So I returned them. I learned that if you buy them (Forster bits) individual you'll save money.

Best quality I've found so far

These forstner bits are probably in my top five favorite tools in my shop. They cut a clean hole which is perfectly sized to the nominal dimension. I've been using them for several months now and they are still cutting just as well as the day I got them. Highly recommend these, I'll be getting the metric set soon as well! The box is not fantastic but does the job just fine. I drilled some holes in a block of wood to mount these on a tool wall so I don't really care about the quality of the box.

The best forstner bits made.

These are probably the best forstner bits made. They are dimensionally accurate and cut with no tear out. Also the first 1/4” forstner bit I have used to actually bore without clogging.

Bits are amazing, box is a joke

I purchased these bits 5 months ago and have been using them since. The Good: - they are wickedly sharp and have stayed that way; - the wave design makes a very crisp edge and has virtually no tear out when using a backer board; and - there is no chatter what so ever and the holes they create are very precise (only have yourself to blame if the hole is not right; The Bad: - the pictures and the model number on amazon both correspond to a version of the product on the Fisch website that has shanks with 3-flats. The ones I received are smooth round shanks; - the storage box is a complete joke, the bits aren't held steady and rattle around loose in the box. Overall the bits are amazing but I returned this "boxed version" and purchased the exact same bits but in the plastic clamshell for $30-$40 less.

Picture is incorrect. It shows a hex shaft, mine arrived with a round shaft. Purchased based on picture, not pleased.
