The Alliance Filter works better than the official filter, if you pre-rinse.
Importantly, as another reviewer pointed out, the base of the Alliance filter is just a wee bit wider than the official Kalita 155. This means that pre-wetting the filter greatly helps! I use a long toothpick and push the wet paper base onto the metal/glass Kalita base. If you don't do this, then the coffee grounds drain too fast. The above may seem negative, but the great advantage of the Alliance filter isn't its price, but its height - 15 mm taller (>1/2 inch) than the official Kalita. This means that you can get past the 29-31 gram max of the official Kalita and also that you can pour more water at a time. In short, life is easier with the Alliance if you pre-wet the filter, which many do automatically with any filter.

Kalita style filters
When purchasing I did think they were Kalita wave filters but reading it again it does say Kalita style filters so at first I was like oh this sort of sucks but it was my mistake. They work fine and isn't any major difference style wise. I'm unsure about the materials used in the paper filter so that could be different than the original Kalita wave filters. If you're not a coffee snob you probably don't care.

Kalita style does not a Kalita make
These are acceptable if you are not a purist about your pour-over. The best thing about them is that I am able to rinse them and have no chlorine aftertaste like some filters. Shortcomings are that the bottom of the filter is slightly larger that the bottom of the Kalita 185, so it does not sit straight in the brewer. I also find them a little more difficult to separate than Kalita brand. These are a much better price though. So, overall, a matter of personal preference.

They're coffee filters alright!
These work perfect for the Kalita style insert on my OXO coffee maker. Are Kalita filters worth it? Not sure as you can scrunch a #2 cone filter into the insert and it seems to work just as well for a lot less $$

Laundry Soap Smell
Size, shape, and thickness are all on point. However, it has a strong laundry detergent smell. After thorough pre-rinsing, it doesn't seem to impact the flavor but still.... going back to the original Kalita for a dollar more.

Good, inexpensive substitute
This works well as the substitute of the [now very expensive] Kalita 185 filters. Contrary to another reviewer's experience, the Alliance filters I got are not as stiff (thick?) as the original Kalita's. I always rinse my filter before brewing - the Kalita will stay on the Wave Dripper but the Alliance does not when I hold my dripper upside down to dump out the water. Other than that, I did not notice any difference in terms of brewing time or taste.

Seem Fine
It seems like these work fine for my Oxo coffee brewer. I haven’t tried any other ones so I have nothing to compare them to. I’ll buy the Kalita ones next to see if there’s any difference. These are a much better price though.

It okay for the price
I like it but a little frustrating as the shape easily collapses when rinsing. Compared to other filters, I guess it is an okay filter for its purpose.
