Really decent airflow for this level of filtration.

Moved into a new rental home. Large Trane HVAC (XT80 air handler) that uses 20x25x1 filters. Started with a Honeywell FPR 12 (black) super ultra mega whatever filter. Very good filtration but airflow started as marginal and quickly became poor as I cleaned various rooms in the home, vacuumed, etc. No bueno. I left that filter in for two weeks. The media was already quite filthy, showing good filtration. But the airflow was garbage. Enter the 3M Filtrete 2800. Immediately upon installation, this 2800 filter provided an obvious increase in airflow. You could actually hear it in the air handler. Easily felt via additional velocity of cold air through the vents. No idea what percentage increase this would be if measured, but I am convinced that increasing system efficiency as much as this has to aid power usage. Conjecture, but reasoned conjecture. The air actually smells even cleaner than the FPR12 Honeywell from HD. The 3M filter has several multiples of the filter media surface area of the Honeywell. Likely at least 5x. Maybe more. The average fold distance between pleats in the 3M 2800 is like 4-6mm. For the FPR12 Honeywell it's been 25mm (an inch) and 38mm. The FPR has pleat spacing like all the less expensive pleated filters. So far, there seems to be no replacement for surface area with regard to air flow. Will update. Very pleased so far.

These are the highest rated Filtrete filters I can find. I can buy the 1200 and 1500 filters locally. But why would anyone settle for anything less than the best when it comes to the air inside our homes?

If you have allergies this is the filter to buy!

My son had the lower left half of his lung removed when he was 10 months old (He's 6 now and good to go) BUT we have to keep an eye on his allergies very closely because when he gets chest congestion it's no fun. Once I found these filters a little over a year ago I was skeptical as they don't sell these at the hardware store. I called Filtrete to verify these are legitimate and after speaking with them it seems as though they are priced at a point and don't have the demand to stock them in store which makes sense. I ordered them and have went through a few. I don't know if it's the placebo effect in my mind or what but I feel like I have the best filter on the market which to us have a made a massive difference. My son has only had to do breathing treatments one time in last 6 months which is super exciting to us! I won't buy any other filter period. I replace the filter every 3 months as suggested and if you're looking for a solid allergy filter this is it! I would recommend this to anyone.

Used it as filter in face masks !!

Ordered this to make face masks for the covid times. N95 masks are out of stock and I morally don’t feel right using them. Frontline workers deserve them. So I decided to see my own mask with a slit to insert a filter. Then I cut open the filter and cut into small rectangles good enough to cover half my face! Voila ready. Use this everytime I step out of home for grocery, Park. Keeping my family safe. Am not an expert in filtration, this is my research. This may or not work, but really is no any other choice!

Good whole house air filter

This item was shipped in a cartoon box with good protection to the filters so they arrived in perfect condition. I want the best available HVAC air filter for my house. We breath the air every second. Healthy air promotes healthy body. My wife is allergic to dusts. I have been using this type of 3M filters for years. I replace the filter every 3 months. They have been giving us good clean fresh air every day and every hour. I wish they can provide a 4 filter package so that I can order my whole year supply in one go.

I was not aware that a MERV14 filter was available for home use. It was a little pricey but worth it IMO.

I can't fully rate this item until it has been in use for awhile. Based on previous high end Filtrete filters I have used, I am giving it a five star rating.
