nearly 4 years of use and still going strong!

I purchased 6 these of these back in March of 2017 for my sister and I to try our hand at making mead. They have been absolutely awesome. We have used them all 4 times now. - The jugs are sturdy, very thick glass. We haven't been the gentlest when setting them down on the concrete floor of the basement, and thankfully none have cracked or shattered. I would still say it wouldn't be the best idea to smash them about, I'm just saying the accidental hard setting down or bumping them into each other hasn't broken them. - The next thing I would like to mention is that the stoppers are still good as new on them and haven't cracked or hardened, or torn. I know that this rubber can become hard and crumble over time, so the fact that this is still looking good after 4 years is pretty nice. - luckiest of all, none of the airlocks have broken. I've seen people mentioning that they have cracked theirs, but the airlocks on the jugs I have are still going strong. Again I would still reccomend that you not manhandle the things purposely, but regular use seems to have been fine on them. - Lastly, my only gripe is the unavoidable difficulty of cleaning these types of bottles. Obviously the bottles are glass and have necks that are skinny, so the gunk or film that might form and stick to the inside of the bottle can be a tad difficult to clean out. (Think 8 month old apple goo chillin there getting real slimy and clinging to the sides or bottom when you want to filter out the wine haha) SO when you buy these also buy yourself a long handled scrubber/sponge wand thing to help you get in there and clean the jugs out really good. (because you can't really spray waster down into them all that well without making a HUGE mess. Trust me I know)

Bad corks/bungs

The bottles are fine, they assist in fermenting my mead. The only issue is with the bungs that come with them. 2 so far have slipped right off into my fermenting mead. That is not a good thing. So far my mead is still doing good. After sanitizing the tools needed I was able to retrieve the bungs after transferring the mead into a new jar. I took all possible precautions to keep from contaminating the batch. I don’t think there should be a problem but the only way to tell is with the final product. So be careful when using the bungs that come with the carboys. The air locks that come with the carboys do work good through. I like the S shaped ones but these are good as well.

Cheap additions to a nice gallon jug

I bought this product because of the large number of positive reviews. I was looking for an all-in-one fermenter for small batches. What I got was a cheap airlock, ill-fitting cork and a nice glass jug. The airlock cracked the first time I tried to plug it into the top of the cork! Also, no instructions were included for how to use the 3-piece airlock. I would not buy this again and I’m doubtful if it will work with the crack in the airlock and the cork that doesn’t fit (even when the rim is dry).

Excellent Little Jars; Stopper Fits But is Small

Love these! They're perfect for small batches and "testing" recipes. Shipped very quickly, and was packaged well (something I was a little worried about, with them being glass). As others have said, the stopper fits, but is small enough that I think I could push it into the mouth of the jar if I weren't being careful. Mindful of that, I've been making sure to put the airlock in the stopper before putting the stopper in the jar, and haven't had any issues. We're probably going to end up with a nice collection of these things at this price point.
