Makes a huge difference
I bought these for walking my dogs during the freeze/thaw shenanigans that is spring in Minnesota. Easy to put on and sounds like you have spurs on when you're on bare concrete. Wearing them makes me feel way more confident about walking with 100 pounds of prey drive on glare ice. I forgot to put them on once and almost slipped a million times on the icy sidewalks. My dogs thought I was crazy. My only complaint is that when it's slushy, they get some buildup and it feels like you're walking on a tennis ball. I also like how sturdy the fabric/Velcro is as opposed to the rubber ones that cover the whole boot. With these, you can walk tiptoe indoors so you don't have to take them off as often.

Great Snow Cleat
Easy to put on and remove. No screws to fail and be replaced. Best product for the job. Recommend without reservation.

Alaska Buyer
After reading some reviews, I can see why these aren't for everyone. But for me they are PERFECT. I live in Alaska. I'm getting older, and try to be careful on icy surfaces. I bought my first pair in 2015, and almost five years later am still happy with them. I've worn almost every type of cleat made. Some, with rubber, slip off too easily. Some with coils catch and snag on surfaces. Plus, with any full cleat, you have to be able to remove them to walk indoors. Then you have to put them back on to go out. When you're running into a store for a couple of items, this is a major pain. With these, you can "tiptoe" inside that store to grab your coffee, pay for gas, etc. I now own three sets. One set is dedicated to my Sorel winter boots, but I bought two ankle boots with a flat(ish) sole for the others. If you use these with shoes, you won't want much of a heel on them, and I found that the higher front used with ankle boots let these secure great. If you're going to be on foot in deep snow, these might not be for you, although I guarantee you will NEVER lose them mid-hike like I have with some of the stupid rubber cleats. If you're using them to travel safely on slick or icy surfaces, running errands, etc. You'll be happy, especially when paired with either boots or flatter soled footwear. So how am I using them? I am a teacher, and my teaching area is a portable building (the farthest one from the main building, of course) and I'm required to escort my students to and from the main building. That means I'm out in every kind of weather (last week that meant -22 and 50 mph winds), at least ten times a day. I can leave these on my footwear all day long, and do. And will....until there's no ice to slip on between hither (main school building) and yon (my portable). Pros: -half sole provides traction and is less limiting for going between indoors and outdoors -will never get lost mid-hike in some drift Cons: -work better with boots than shoes (in my opinion) -half-cleat means you have to be mindful of how you walk. If you're a heel-down walker, you'll be fine. Don't know anyone who tippy-toes in snow, anyway, but someone might.

Wish I could give it 5 stars
My employer gave me a pair of heel only traction. I liked the way they worked but were rubber and always fell off when I walked through over a foot of snow. So I started looking for a pair that secured better and found these. I was so excited to try them. First let me say I walk over 12 miles a day in a hilly area. The terrain can be clear pavement, sheet of ice, or 1-4 feet of snow.... All on the same street. So I was putting these to the test. The first 2 hours I was very happy with them but the metal plate kept slipping to the arch of my foot. It still gripped but was annoying and wasn't comfortable. I kept fussing with them until I figured out that the elastic strap on the back was way too big. It was just hanging there. I wear big bulky Rockys, not like I had dainty boots on. I took a rubber band and bunched about 2 inches of the elastic. That made it tight and the plate stayed in place. (Think I'm going to break out the sewing machine and sew the elastic so they fit properly.) The rest of the day no issues and they worked great. I love the heel only, I wear them for over 8 hours and they don't make my feet sore like the whole sole cleats. Pros They stay on wonderfully Are easy to put on Grip well Easy to walk in Cons That strap in the back should be adjustable. (Would've been a 5 star review if it fit properly) I will be giving these a work out! I will update the review at the end of winter or if I have any issues before then.

I rarely write reviews...I am that picky
happy to say, I am taking the time to write a positive review. We need more positive in the world. Bought these to use over artic muck boots. I went on the side of caution and bought the XL size. Turns out I didn't need too but thanks to the the way they are designed, it isn't a problem. Using them on womens size 7 muck boots. Could easily be used on men's 11 size. easy to take on and off. great traction. and not so spiky that you have to worry about them putting a hole in the foot mats of a truck or car. Great item!

Arch strap length of fuzzy portion
Arch strap length of fuzzy portion needs to be about 3" longer to be used for boots. The length may be fine for shoes. I hand sewed a 3 1/2" length of fuzzy Velcro onto the strap across the instep of the Ergodyne heel cleat traction device and now seems to work very well. The size that I ordered was a large, maybe I should have ordered and XL. As you receive the traction device it is a very poor design on the Velcro strap.

Work great on ice - very portable
Quick to put on and remove. Also no need to stretch and un-stretch over your shoes every time you have to go into a shop or building. You can just tip-toe into buildings without slipping on tiled floors or damaging their wooden floors. I have Kahtoolas as well for serious snow and ice, but these are good to have in the car, or after a freeze thaw cycle when you have to go in and out of buildings with icy sidewalks. I was also looking at the Devisys heel traction aid, but that was much more expensive and had reports of rusting - surprising since it was Finnish. On wet snow, sometimes the bottom gets stuck with snow/ice balls, and I have to shake it off - this does not happen with my Kahtoolas. But on frozen sheet ice it's great. One nice touch is the reflective elastic strap in the back.

Good cleat, could be better
Pro: Quality is good, provides good grip. Con: cleat plate tends to pull forward off front of heel. I tried a heel style cleat a couple years ago and they are my preferred style. I found toe or arch style cleats interfere with driving, so it was necessary for me to remove and put back on several times a day. This cleat is overall pretty good, quality appears to very good, and the cleat provides good traction. My only dislike is the cleat tends to slide forward on the heel and hang "half off" the front of the heel. The strap that goes around the back of the boot is elastic, I think, possibly, if it were made of nylon strap material it would provide the support needed to prevent the cleat from moving. So far it hasn't failed to provide the required traction, so I'll keep using it for now. Hopefully it will last the remainder of the winter.

Change the back strap to be adjustable!
I am a ladies size 9 1/2 and bought the M/L. I wore them the first time with an open mind about all the reviews I read. I agree there is a problem with ths back reflective elastic back strap being too loose. The cleat kept coming off my heel of my Columbia hiking shoe. There is no way to adjust this. It could be quick fix on the part of the manufacturer. They could make this area adjustable for shoes on the smaller end of the spectrum. I will also try to take a small tuck in the back. I shouldn't have too at the price I have paid for them (Close to $30). I would not buy another of until this change has been made and I will not return them since I hate walking on ice. They seem to be better then a full shoe cleat.

Excellent purchase!
I love these. The sidewalks and streets have been treacherous with ice, and I am feeling so much safer with these on my winter boots. Hardly ever slip at all. My boots are made for warmth and are very wide and high. These don't slip off the boots and I appreciate being able to adjust them. Other brands were always coming off. I also like that I don't have to remove them in the store. The steel might cause me to slip a bit, but because the front of my boot is still grippy on the linoleum I don't go flying like I used to with the type that covered the whole bottom of my foot. The price seems very reasonable to me!

No good in wet snow, but great otherwise
I was looking for low profile, strap on cleats and these are great, BUT the weather where I needed them most was when it was wet and icy. These stick to any wet snow and it forms a hard packed lump under your heel as you walk. Frankly, it's during the thaw/freeze phase at the end of the winter where I need these most, and I need to be able to strap them on at the start of my walk to walk through ice and snow equally. If it's perfectly cold, and you're just on ice or not in wet snow, they're great. But I think there is a huge miss in creating a product for icy weather that can't be worn equally in all snow conditions.
