Beautiful and complex! -- Presents a bit more of a challenge for a more experienced cross-stitcher
These are the perfect ornaments for someone who has "been around the block" with cross-stitching, who wants to create a real work of art, not just another 2D Santa face saying "Ho Ho Ho". :) They're absolutely gorgeous! The cloth and thread are high quality, the colors are very rich (there are many, many of them!!), and the patterns are pretty well done/readable/large (as far as cross-stitch patterns go). The thread came pre-sorted, which was a big help with so many close colors! (I just recommend putting them immediately onto labeled cardboard bobbins or something, to tell them apart and to keep them untangled.) As something of a veteran cross-stitcher myself, I've complicated the design even further by implementing quarter-, half-, and three-quarter-stitches where none are suggested, and it's really crisping up the corners! (The pattern simply uses full cross-stitches and half-stitches for fill designs, so everything is done by blocks of color; this is the only failing--in my opinion--of the pattern, but if you've cross-stitched much it's pretty easy to use intuition to remedy it if you care to. On the other hand, the cloth grid is so small, it makes less difference, and makes it harder to do the teenier stitches, which is doubly why I imagine they skipped them. However, I'm a perfectionist.) I love that this gives me a "big" project that can be broken into small pieces, particularly for portability and ease of handling (I cut the fabric into 6 pieces and stitch one ornament at a time on a 5" hoop), but also so I feel some real progress is being made as I complete an entire ornament (even though it's only a portion of the whole project). It is a pretty small Aida count, though, so I don't recommend getting it if you have trouble seeing very small stitches, or don't have a good magnification system to remedy it,

Beautiful cross stitch
I already did one of the patterns. It came out very beautifully. It is extremely nice to look at. I would have to say that this is not for a beginner for a few reasons. One, the patterns are so intricate. I have made mistakes with this and had to redo the areas. If you do not, it just will not come out right. Second, the diagrams provided are extremely small. For some spots, it is hard to tell what the symbol is. I would suggest blowing up the diagrams. Also, plan it out very well. I did, but not very well. I did not realize how skimpy the canvas was until I did a design and realized I cannot do the ornamentation that they provided. If you want to do the ornamentation method provided, cut out tissue paper and outline the diagram that they have provided and try to segment the canvas out accordingly. Other methods can be done as well. I have seen several videos and blogs about how others did the ornamentation. So, plan everything out well. Consider how you will create it into an ornament. The other thing is they do not provide all the materials. You will need to provide them yourself. Also, I would suggest a different felt fabric. I saw a blog where someone used the white felt and did the ornamentation method provided and it just looked a bit unrefined in the back.

They've changed the thread
I've been doing cross stitch for 40 years. Dimension has always been my favorite brand. The thread in this kit seems to be of lesser quality than the DMC thread I'm accustomed to.

Beautiful when completed.
This is not for beginners. I (62) needed to work these completely under my magnifying light. There is a lot of outlining. Beautiful when complete though. Took me about 6 months.

Intricate design cross stitch
Loved working on this. The designs are very detailed. Some of the instructions are a little confusing until I realized the extra numbers on the backstitch part referred to the number of the picture. If you’re not used to working on small count, you may not enjoy it as much.

Top quality materials
The charts are printed on quality magazine type paper, and the graph symbols are printed in color! This is usually not done. Also the threads have all been separated and numbered. Again most companies just send you a ball of threads all mixed together. The charted pictures have very nice detail. All you need is a pair of scissors and a hoop to begin the project.

You have to figure out the thread color with numbers
Match thread color with number and symbols

Tricky and stunning
Stunning, beautiful and the threads come pre-sorted and the Aida fabric is well made (no end pieces or ragged fraying edges). I would say it is not for the faint of heart - definitely an experienced stitcher only. Many of the colours are of a 'one thread of shade x and one thread of shade y' so you end up with a lot more different colours than there are colours initially provided. Invest in a large thread holder for this! Additionally - Dimensions kits tend to not have quite enough thread to cover making any mistakes and their colour codes are unique to them - i.e. not DMC or Anchor. There are some conversion tables online though.

Not for Beginners
Definitely for a seasoned Cross Stitcher! No pattern on fabric. Counting stitches. Complicated pattern and graph to follow if like me a beginner. However, it's a well made product and once I get the hang of it I know it's going to be beautiful. Once I have made them I will update. (Currently working on some easier patterns)

Not for beginner
Have just begun this project. I think it will turn out beautifully once completed, but it is certainly not an easy cross stitch. It will take some time. I think the assembly will be a little complicated. Looking forward to seeing the finished project.
