Well worth the buy.
So, I bought these for my property so when I'm out working on something my wife can yell at me loud and clear. But really I'm very impressed with these I live in the mountains very hilly and covered in brush and trees I've owned a bunch and cheap ones as a kid and my dad buying the nicer ones for around the property. I remember him even getting into cb radios but nothing was a match for these hills a few miles is all we could get out of most radios and when we had the good cb radio hooked up we got a few extra. So when I got 1.4 miles out of these radios I was very impressed. Why? Let me draw you a picture. Wife's on the porch most likely holding the radio wrong pointed away from me antenna facing into the house or hill away from where I'm driving I went not just behind but over a hill behind another hill dropped off into a small valley that's a miles away from my house that's behind another hill! And we can still talk loud and clear... Remember I'm also in a car so if she was looking at me the signal would have to go through 5 mountain with zero line of sight that's over a mile away... Now after the 6 hill around 1.5 miles from my house it started getting choppy but I hit a clear spot still blocked by a mountain but the signal came through now at 1.8 miles away and she's loud and clear.... Now this part of the canyon I had to go behind another mountain and through another mountain at over 2 miles away and we hit a dead spot.. I was talking to her and at some moments I would come in clear as day but as I was driving it would quickly vanish.. So that's 7 mountain later and the radios finally give out... Call me impressed. I also had a small 3w or 5w cb radio with a upgraded antenna on the same frequency to see if I could hear her on that but it stopped picking her up at 1.5 miles.... And so I'm very glad I went with these since it struggled to keep a clearer signal then the Dewalt and they arnt as clear nore legal like the Dewalt are without a special license. As for quality I must of got the upgraded batch because mine came in with the batteries installed and the people who had issues with the unit had to install the batteries. Also the antenna feels very sturdy along with the back clip I feel it will break before that clasp fails and I don't feel it breaking anytime soon. I'm also not a fan of Dewalt I personally own several Milwaukee power tools and a couple Dewalt and Milwaukee always out last and performs them. I would even buy Roybi over Dewalt is how much I'm not a fan boy of them haha but I must give credit where credit is due.. I wasn't expecting Alot and I got way more then I could ever imagine. Alot of people don't like the battery but I'm never going to remove it unless its dead and it's supposed to have a 14 hour work life so if your on a job site spending 50 dollars a radio just buy an exstra set or two so when one dies on the field they can swap them out for a charged one. And when you notice them dieing before the days over maybe its time to change out the battery? I'm sure they'll Alot cheaper then the standard clip on kind and probably why Dewalt went this route. Personally I'd recommend these at 100 and if you don't want to wait around for a sale asking price is far for what you are getting from personally using and even having my friends tell me you'd be lucky to find a radio that will work a half miles away from home once you get behind a hill it's worthless.. Overall and so far I'm very impressed and time will tell how long they will last/hold up and if something comes up that warranty doesn't cover I'll make sure to update my review but I'm very happy and plan to buy another set.

These are rugged and can withstand a drop on concrete floors etc.
Really like the beating these can take. My staff are not gentle with these and so far we have had no breakages unlike others we have tried in the past.

No wall adapter!
These kits don’t come with everything to charge. Comes with the stand and the cord to plug in stand. But they just leave you with a USB connection, no wall adapter. You guys do know that we have to plug this into a wall right? Dumb.

Very impressed with quality and function; good value
I've had many sets of walkie talkies over the years...use them to communicate on 12 hilly, wooded acres,, between steel/stucco buildings, and an occasional stretch to a mile away when visiting neighbor's property. Wife uses wheelchair so walkie talkies work well for us to keep in touch both inside the house and when I'm outside. Our cell phones are inconsistent as we have a steel roof on the house....but walkie talkies have been much better and are less expensive to replace if run over by a piece of equipment. Most walkie talkies provide the coverage we need, but I must say, these DeWalt are the best. They are ergonomic (really like the front pushing PPT button to talk), durable build (rubberized edges, guaranteed "drop proof" from 2 meters, short/stubby antenna, etc.), they are just the right size to fit in a pocket if you don't hang them from your belt/pocket with the belt clip (belt clip is potentially the least "robust" of the components as it is pretty simple plastic cup/clip type holder and probably won't take the abuse the actual walkie talkie will take), and sound/clarity is excellent. They are very intuitive, easy to program, on/off/volume control is simple rotation of a knob. They are easily "locked" so channels don't change. Battery life is easily the 18 hours on standby....we use them multiple times during the day from 6am to 11pm, charge overnight and they are ready to go again at 6am. They don't have weather scan/NOAA type add ons, nor bluetooth capable. However, I've found those things to be of minimal to no value for how we use them. While they don't come with them, they will accept a plug-in ear bud and have VOX-voice activated receiving/transmission (with or without the plugged in ear bud). They are plenty loud when turned clear up and the vibration mode is a plus when turned on with the sound alert around loud noises. Yes, they cost more than the average Walkie Talkies, but I'm hoping durability and fewer things to go wrong will translate to having them a long time...I've ordered a second set for use in RV (received a $25 off orders from another website that also sold this product). They are not on the DeWalt website, you have to call their support site if you have questions: (866) 208-1654. I called to inquire about replacement batteries and warranty...Batteries "will be coming available soon" on Amazon and other sites that sell their walkie talkie. The warranty is for 1 year. Note this review is for the 2 watt version (DXFRS800), not the 1 watt. I have no experience with the 1 watt. I'll be following up if I run into any issues or other observations that might help when making a decision. Pleased with the purchase so far.

Product support severely lacking
I bought these earlier this year & have issues with 2 of the radios. I have tried & tried for weeks to get warranty support but the email & phone numbers are not in service. I keep getting sent in circles. They are otherwise good radios, those that are working anyway.

Radios for work
I have bought a lot of two-way radios to use on the jobs that I do. These have got to be the best radios out there love them.

Great range
Bought these to communicate with the hubs when he’s in the forest and for when we are our checking the maple syrup lines for leaks. We have communicated from as far as 1km away in a forest. My only negative comment is that they don’t sit tightly in the charging station and I have a rubber band around them to keep them snug.

On time and as expected
Testing phase in progress. Looking for a radio that can get through multiple layers of concrete. Will review when I test it on my worst locations

Good value
These were the 2 watt version and they work great, much better than the Motorola ones I returned. Don’t expect maximum range (from any kind of 2 way, not just these) but 15 floors through a concrete and steel building impressed me

Good radio
Was able to get farther into the zones of work than most others. Seems better able to get through concrete. The higher power signal makes a big difference

Decent!
Bought these for work and use them for everything. Great battery life, range, and design. Vox works awesome for when you hands are busy
