Perfect for wood
Brad point bits are better for drilling wood than high speed twist bits- less tear out, cleaner holes. 3/8” holes are easy to plug with a dowel.

Drilled nice clean holes through wood shelving. Clean, straight and true. Good bit. Recommend.

Special Purpose But...
Ive owned Dewalt for years and always dependable. We could get in to the minutia of this brand or that, but I bought this for a particular wood project that involves several live edge pieces, and well, they happen to be aged Oak at about 2 1/2 inches thick and solid. On low speed drilling and following a pilot hole, my bit dulled 3 different times where I simply and as accurately as I could, ReSharper with a round file. It was surprising just how hard this wood is, but I kinda had faith that this wood bit would hold up anyway. Unfortunately Unfortunately not the case. But still using the bit as long as it holds up for this project.
