Perfect! Tricky to assemble but very cute

This Ian adorable addition to an “eclectic” reading area I created. Take time to put together since fit for middle piece has to be JUST RIGHT to assemble properly. Love it and have had many compliments already! If you found this review helpful, let me know!

Fabulous oddity decor

I window shopped this eyeglass art for 2 months. I read one review that said she too had window shopped this item and finally purchased it and she LOVED IT. So based on her review I bought it too. So glad i did! It's so cool !!! Its much nicer looking in person,its heavier than you might think, colors are nice, the picture does not do it justice. Its impossible to find a vintage looking optometrist sign this nice for this price. I got the idea for this cool oddity sign from watching AMERICAN PICKERS ! I started looking for one but antique ones are outrageously high but Amazon and Toscano makes it possible if you want one. THANKS !!! Stop pondering and buy it. I'm very happy with it. Note to buyer, there are 4 screws, get all 4 started and make your way around to each one screwing them in a little each time until you have got them all the way in. Screwing each one in all the way will make it seem unlevel and tricky so do each a little at a time. It took me 5 mins.

Arrived Broken

Was so disappointed because I had admired this in Design Toscano’s catalog for ages and when I saw it on Amazon, I was thrilled. Sadly mine arrived broken and will be going back but a replacement is on its way. Sadly Amazon referred me to Design Toscano’s customer service number but when I called them, Design Toscano said that since I ordered it from Amazon, that I had to deal with Amazon to get a replacement. So it was frustrating to get the run around. Hopefully the replacement will be okay.

It's NOT at all gold coloured. Very disappointed.

First impressions: Very well packaged. The box could have easily withstood some ruff handling along the way. Assembly was a snap. The screws appeared to be treated with some kind of “lock-tight.” A nice touch. You just have to be careful not to cross-thread them when starting out. Metal hardware is embedded into the mould to hold it securely. Also on the back are rubber standoffs to save your wall from getting scratched. Drywall anchors and mounting screws are included. Appearance-wise, it was the “gold” frame that stuck me. I had not expected it to be so iridescent and in my humble opinion, leaning more towards orange/copper rather than gold. My plan was to hang the Toscano Optometrist Sign with a number of paintings and prints much like as seen in the Amazon advert showing it mounted on a wall. Many of the picture frames I had earmarked for the project are painted antique gold or have gold accents. The eyeglass frames on THIS Toscano are best described as a metallic, copper colour. It’s not at all gold coloured as it appears in the ad. The artwork on the eyes themselves is quite good. No complaints there. One thing I didn’t notice was that the square tab on the right points downward. I don’t know why they wouldn’t make them match. In conclusion, the ad photo showing the sign surrounded by framed pictures is a bit of a misnomer. Apart from the frame NOT being gold, this Toscano lacks the detail for up-close viewing and is best viewed from a bit of a distance. Much like the olden days street sign, it’s meant to replicate. The frames are a glittery copper colour and look overdone and cheap. (My photos toned it down. Imagine what Elton John would ware performing in the '40s.) I would have much preferred if it were the classic gold colour, as advertised. Truer to the genuine article and time period. As it is, I now have a choice of returning it or painting it the proper colour. Pitty, I waited quite some time to get it at a price I was happy with and I was so looking forward to seeing it on my wall.
