Missing Perch

Mine arrived with no perch. I don't see any spot where it's broken off-- it looks like it was never there. I searched the box and packaging... nothing. On the inside are little broken pieces... it looks fine on the outside, but there are chips broken off on the interior. It's also very heavy, so you'll need a significant branch to hang it. All in all, it looks mostly like the picture, though a little darker, but I'm very bummed about the missing perch.

Also Missing the Perch

The bird house arrived well packaged in styrofoam. Arrived as pictured except it is missing the perch. Also, the decorative bird in the picture is not included -- I think they show the bird to give an idea of the size of bird it will fit. Not sure how long the rope will last in the Arizona sun. This bird house is sturdy and heavy, note, but in my case, that will work fine since I am hanging from a hook under my patio. One late note -- on the bottom was a white sticker, but thankfully it removed easily.

Cute!

(Note, this review is for the Cottage style) When I saw the product image for this birdhouse, I thought it was one of those digitally created images (I've seen them before, strange as it might sound). But no, the birdhouse really does look exactly like that. It is kind of fun, it looks a bit like a 3d painting. It isn't very big (as the little songbird in the image would indicate). It is a little bit heavier than I expected, but nothing earth shattering. The rope loop gives it a nice rustic touch. Do the birds like it though? I can't say - winter arrived in full force the day before I received this. Not a bird to be seen, probably until spring. But the birdhouse still looks cute.

Whimsical and Pretty/I Replaced Hanger

This is a wonderfully woodsy looking little birdhouse made of some kind of sturdy resin material. It's a good size for sparrows, wrens, titmice, and other small cavity nesting birds. It's nice a roomy, and I have put it outside in my cherry tree to birds to roost in at night and get out of the winter cold. Hopefully, a nesting couple will consider it good real estate next spring and move in to have some babies! I like everything about this birdhouse except for the hanging string, which will probably wear out and disintergrate over the next few years, so I replaced the string with some medium-sized wire, which also serves to hold the birdhouse against the branch so it does't swing so much in the wind. Very pretty--looks nice in my tree.

Pretty, detailed, and should attract a nest in the spring.

This little birdhouse is very cute, and like most pieces from Design Toscano, it has wonderful detail. Be sure to remove the stickers from the bottom, as one covers the drain hole. We won't know until spring whether birds will next in it, but in the meantime it looks really nice outside our window. I have already seen a sparrow go inside, so maybe they will use it for a winter roost. It doesn't have a perch like in the photo, and clearly that is no longer part of the design. It doesn't matter, because very few cavity nesting birds need a perch. Old woodpecker holes don't have one. Before spring I am going to use something like wire to hang it, just to make it more secure than the rope.

Cute ‘twig & thatch’ effect, resin, birdhouse...

...potentially decorative rather than practical, IMO. ???? DESIGN TOSCANO ???? BACKWOODS BIRD HOUSE COLLECTION ???? STYLE ~ 'COTTAGE' ???? PRODUCT REF : HF330888 COLOUR : DARK BROWN Currently the product detail states that there ‘is a drainage hole in the bottom and the perch is metal’ – my cottage birdhouse has neither of these ‘features’. Saying that, I like the rustic ‘twig & thatch’ look of this item. Heavier than expected, the well-made bird cottage arrives safely nestling in a plastic-type bag in moulded polystyrene within a cardboard box, then in a strong cardboard outer packed with brown paper for safe transit. Measuring on the outside, the height is around 17 cm allowing for the apex/ridge. The maximum width is 13 cm. Front to back is a maximum of around 10 cm on the outside, the inside being around 8.5 cm. The base is roughly 11.25 cm square and around 1 cm thick with a plain BLACK finish underneath, with the 2 x product stickers easily removed without leaving a residue. One carries the product reference & detail, the other has: ???? ‘Design Toscano : Exclusively designed in USA and handcrafted in China’ The cottage hangs from a twisted rustic string, each side of which is around 18 cm long & tied in a knot at the top. The holes in the roof for the string are a little rough round the edges so I have reinforced with some wire for longevity and more flexibility in attaching. Sticking a finger through the only way in, the cottage birdhouse is rough to the touch inside and has restricted width on the sides. The entrance hole however is smoothly finished off and is around 4 cm diameter; a smidgen less at the bottom allowing clearance of the canopy above the cute little mock front door. I have reduced the size of this opening with a spot of DiY adding some real grassy/mossy fibres. If I do manage to attract some residents, other than my curious resin friend (last image refers), I will be delighted. Otherwise, I am happy with this ornamental piece. There is no detail re the material used in the construction on the physical product. ooOoo Manufacturer Detail: ‘Hand-cast using real crushed stone bonded with high quality designer resin, each piece is individually hand-painted by our artisans...’ [18 images attached]

Love it!

Really very cute, it's about 17cm tall, and 13cm wide with an entrance hole about 4cm in diameter. It hangs from a twisted string with a drop of 19cm and is made from a stone-effect resin, painted realistically and looks really lovely in my garden. Can't wait to see if it attracts any residents, but even if it doesn't, it makes me smile each time I walk past it!

Perfect

This is an excellent little house for birds and I had just the place in the garden to put it. It is made out of a stone effect resin and will be the perfect home for a new feathered family. I am hoping one takes up residence soon .
