Sturdy legs

Nice match with the 46-460 lathe

Well constructed and looks like it will last a very long time. Assembly is simple, so even with the errors in the instructionsDelta Industrial 46-462 Midi-Lathe Stand with Straight legs , both English & example mistakes, there should be no problem putting it together. Two things I'd have liked a little different. One, the table adjustment should allow the top to go 1 or 2 inches higher. I have it all the way up and I'm only 5'10", so a taller person might want to actually set it on bricks or something to raise it a bit. The second thing is it would have been nice if the tool storage holes (some) were a little smaller so that thinner handled turning tools would not fall through. Better yet, the holes could have been replaced with a wider shelf so you could set things on it. It might be a good idea to check out PSI's (Penn State Industries) lathe stand. Good bit cheaper and has a shelf, but I haven't a clue about the quality of the construction. From experience, I do know that PSI standing behind their product is a little spotty. In any case, the Delta 46-462 stand will do the job quite well. Not only was Amazon's price the best available but delivery was immediate & free.

Is good, may require a little work to fit older midi-lathe model(s), but worth the investment.

A fine stand, however be aware, if you've got an older Midi-Lathe, the holes will not line up. The newer versions of the lathe have the base leg under the the tail-stock cast right to the end, where-as the older versions are inset. Mine is about 5" shorter between the mounting holes than this stand expects and I ended up having to drill new holes in the top mounting plates. Would have been nice if Delta had pre-drilled the top plates for multiple configurations, but really wasn't hard to resolve for m'self, (10 minutes marking and drilling out the holes). Otherwise, it took me about 10 minutes to set up, including disposing of the packaging. It is delightfully stable, and looks waaay better than the workmate I'd been using for the last several years. An aside, I would like to have an integrated wire-guide on the stand to keep the power cord from being all free-spirited. Simply ended up just going to home-depot and getting adhesive backed wire guides and they work great.

Picture isn’t what you’ll get.

Was a bit disappointed when they arrived as it seems a bit flimsy but when built is pretty solid and although it seems low with the lathe on it’s a decent height. If you’re tall you might need to consider raising it a bit. Instructions are rubbish but it’s not difficult to figure out. The picture is wrong and if you didn’t pay attention like me you might be disappointed. I think the price is a bit high to be honest but there you go. There is a bit of flex in it which seems a bit cheap but it helps to get a good footing on an uneven floor like mine. Overall, happy with it.

Good value and fit for my lathe.

My lathe fit perfectly on the stand. It is stable and easy to assemble.

Very Sturdy

The stand no longer has splayed legs. The legs are straight. Having said that, the stand is still VERY sturdy. It was a great improvement over the wood workbench I had previously been using. I was able to mount a 12x3" blank on the lathe and could run up to 1500 rpm with no vibrations, even at that size. I do have a couple complaints: There is no place to store the knockout bar except in the tool holder. Also, the tool holders could be a little lower. I had a long tool handle get wedged under the motor and I burned my hand on the hot motor when reaching down to free it.

Room for improvement

I don't have a workbench so this was a must have for me. I'm happy with it BUT it would be a homerun purchase if... 1) it had a basket tray that would sit below the lathe/above the gouge holder. That would be nice for keeping extra chucks, sandpaper and other items within reach. And 2) you could easily raise and lower the lathe height without having to unbolt the lathe off the mount, change the height of the mounting plates, then reattach the lathe.

Great stand...but false advertising from amazon

4-STARS FOR PRODUCT 3- FOR AMAZON This stand is one of the things that make the 46-460 such a great lathe. The only down side is the difficulty in setting up if you add the extensions. Unlike the old Delta la200 lathe, you now have to line up the lathe, extension, stand, and stand extension. Takes a lot of patience to get everything lined up right. If it is not all perfect the tail stock will not glide on the table. With that said, this stand is very sturdy. The height is perfect for me. I am by no means tall at 6', but it is perfect working height. The stand by itself is also very easy to put together. The only complaint I have is that the picture shown is the Type 1 stand with the angled feet. This stand apears much more stable than the type 2 that amazon is actually shipping. NOTE: Just an FYI. If you buy this stand and get the type 2, and planon getting the extension, keepin mind that the instructions are slighlty misleading. Just use common sense and you will see that the "bottom hole" is not the right hole if you have the type 2.
