Il Boeing B-52 Stratofortress è un bombardiere a lungo raggio che è stato continuamente utilizzato dall'aeronautica degli Stati Uniti dagli anni '50. Progettato come un bombardiere strategico ad alta quota, è presidiato da un equipaggio di 5 persone, tra cui un pilota, un copilota, un ufficiale del sistema d'arma, un navigatore e un ufficiale della guerra elettronica (fino al 1991 faceva parte dell'equipaggio anche un mitragliere di coda). Ancora in uso oggi, si prevede che continuerà il servizio attivo fino al 2040
