Works A Little Differently Than WC Paper
This is kind of fun. It's not totally transparent with two coats but works fine depending on the surface. Have tried this on Wood and Canvas. On Wood, with two coats the result is close to a lower cost type of Watercolor paper and not too bad! On canvas it works with two coats but the normal blending of pigment you would experience isn't really like watercolor paper, its more of a bleeding effect. I think this is because the water in the paint is trying to get into the fabric fibers below in the canvas like a batik effect and I'm not sure a 3rd coat would help. The dry time after painting is pretty extensive. If you plan on sealing any surface with any kind of varnish you better hit it with some kind of spray fixative first and let it dry a long time because the pigments will bleed otherwise (I've been using Daniel Smith paint that technically should not be releasing or bleeding at all). There's a bit of a learning curve but on the upside if you wet an area with paint, the paint will stay where you wet it like watercolor paper. It holds a wet line but really does not act like 140 lb cotton paper on canvas. I'm going to try it on porcelain next!

Innovation for artists who need to fulfill a niche.
I dont really have any thing bad to say! I didn't actually know this product existed and was so excited to have found it! This is an old photo on cardboard at Lake Sidney Lanier in GA. The rangers allowed me to paint over the old photo after using this great product to seal the cardboard from around the 60s.

Better than expected
I needed something to make some gessoed wood panels usable for oil pastels and this added the perfect surface for them, best hack.

Just what I was looking for
I ordered this product to go over a sketch I had prepared for acylics, but changed my mind and wanted to use my watercolours instead. I only used one light layer I put it on the long way, then went over it again perpendicular , without putting on more product. I wanted the sketch to show through. I wasn't sure at first, if it was enough to make a difference in how my watercolours would behave. I waited 48 hours before trying to paint on it. I was pleasantly surprised that this thin layer worked like a charm. It takes the paint wonderfully. I can also lift it back out almost completely. I was worried the brush strokes of the ground layer would be a problem, since I did not sand it at all, but they don't show at all. Not sure if that's because it was such light layer, or if I am just not that bothered by it. The picture is of the actual project. It is not finished yet, but you can see how the sketch lines were coming through. I did them with my pigma ink marker. Just to give you an idea how dark they were before applying the ground over it.

Not Transparent on Glass, but it Works!
The media could not be loaded. I waited 24 hours after applying a layer of this ground to a glass ornament. The ground was not transparent on the glass, but it held the watercolor well. I wouldn’t go in with a wet glaze towards the end of your painting as it did start lifting a little.

Great medium
I applied this to a piece of cut wood and it watercolored perfectly. On another piece I wood burnt an outline, applied this as well. The only issue was the medium filled the outline and the water color seeped into the burn. I just need to be more careful. I love this product.

Great for canvas
Tested on a 5 x 5 canvas.. definetly worth it. Makes the canvas like cold press paper and doesnt run the color. I brushed on 2 applications and let sit for 48 hours. Worth it! Dont wait if you want to paint on regular canvas :)

Not worth
Too expensive. Not worth. Doesnt work as well as a normal watercolour paper.
