had some cracked and warped dice its kind of expected with Chessex but its irritating a piece or pieces of trash are added to the lb of dice you're paying for like when you get a lb of meat from the butcher does he put the knife on the scale and throw it in the bag too? no so lets keep the trash out of our purchases.

Nice Assortment but Too Many Opaque and Speckled
I definitely did my research before I purchased the Chessex Pound-o-d6, which included looking online for pictures, and looking at other people's reviews on Amazon. I just wanted to get a feel of how many dice I can expect, along with the many designs. When I purchased this, I knew there was a possibility that I would get a high number of dice that didn't have nice styles. Unfortunately, this was the case here. Don't get me wrong- Chessex makes a great product, but I received 97 dice in this pack (including 8 12mm d6 and one large d6), and very few were translucent. I know translucent dice are relatively "boring", but those are among my favorites, along with Nebula, Borealis and Signature dice. I barely got those types of dice. One of the highlights was that I did receive two of Chessex's new Lab Dice (Nebula Wisteria-to the right of the 12mm dice), along with the blue die with blue pips that I can't seem to identify. The pack was overwhelmingly opaque and speckled, though. If you're on the fence about purchasing the pound-o-d6, realize that there's a chance that there'll be a high number of dice that you don't really like. Unless you like all kinds of Chessex dice, to get the dice you really love, the stars have to align perfectly. Sometimes you'll get more opaque, sometimes you'll get about an even distribution, sometimes you'll get close to 130 dice, but this pack will always be mostly 16mm d6 dice with pips.

Chessex dice normally of a great quality and sometimes you can be hard pressed to find something wrong with most of the dice. I've purchased multiple bags over time - both d6 and d4-d20 random bags - and have never been disappointed! In my latest set (May 2012) I received 103 dice: 69x 16mm dice: 6 mottle grey (2 blue spotted, 1 red spotted, 2 green spotted and 1 yellow spotted) 6 classic off-white/ivory (my least favorite, tbh) 3 aqua w black dots 4 grey/blue with black dots 2 sky blue with black dots 2 translucent pale blue with white dots 5 translucent dark blue with white dots (love these!) 9 standard/common white with black dots 1 white with yellow dots 2 red with white dots 2 red with black dots 3 clear/translucent with white dots 3 mottled off white (a white-ish, yellow-ish and pinkish) with black/dark dots 2 translucent dark green (love!) with white dots 2 orange with black dots 2 mustard with black dots 5 mottled brown with white dots 4 mottled blue/grey with white dots 1 dark grey with red dots 1 translucent blue with with dots 2 mottled rose with white/silver dots 1 translucent pink with white dots 1 translucent purple with white dots 3 black with white dots 6 x 8mm various styles 23 x 12mm various styles 1x 19mm 1x 25mm Dice with flaws 1x 12mm with extra a bad coloring from spots on its face 2x 16mm with 1 or more black faces Now I'm only interested in the 16mm but my kids love the other sizes so everyone is a winner. All but 3 are usable which makes this a bargain when you pick it up for $11! Unless you are after very specific styles of d6 then I would definitely grab a bag (or 2) of these!

I got two pounds, thinking that I should be able to get at least a few sets of five dice (they are $1 a die at my local comic shop). 14 mm 60 small dice in clear colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, teal and smoke) 4 teal frosted, 2 pink frosted, 3 yellow/red and 8 in metallic pearl swirls 16 mm I got 17 ivory with black pips, 6 pink/ green marble, 7 pink/gray marble, 3 pink/blue marble (all with white pips) 5 gold pearl, 25 leaf black and gold, 9 white with black pips, 3 black with white pips, 13 nebulas (5 pink, 5 teal and 3 purple) 21 red with white pips, 14 clear colors (3 red, green, 2 purple, 2 teal, 1 yellow and 1 yellow with glitter) 8 blue with white pips, 26 odd dice in greens, reds, yellows and pinks (some with swirls, marbling and pearly stuff) and 8 odd really gorgeous pearl swirly blues and purples. 18 mm 2 clear smoke with white pips 24 mm 2 pearl with black pips. I counted five or six with messy pips, one with a phantom pip and one or two with pip paint where it shouldn't be (I think it will come off with a nail buffer) So for $30 I got over 200 dice, several sets of five in ordinary colors and several sets in some really fantastic colors as well as two matching pair of large dice. As always your mileage may vary but I am really happy with the mix of colors and sizes. There will be plenty of full sets to share with my LARP group and still have plenty at home.
