Allows you to tow with Safety Lights a 7 pin round on a 4 pin flat
Good News & Bad. This allows you to two a trailer using the HD connection of 7 pin round using a 4 pin flat, but this will ONLY provide safety lights. Turns & Brake Lights. It does NOT allow the electric trailer brakes of the trailer to function. So use judiciously when you have a strong brakes on your tow vehicle and a light 7 pin connected trailer. For doing the above, this connector - adapter works perfectly. Just know that you will have NO ELECTRIC TRAILER BRAKES when you use connecter.

This product is made to make your life easy when installing a 7 wire plug on a vehicle ...
Reading these reviews, I do t think people realize what this adaptor is for. This isn't made to hang out space between your 4 wire tow vehicle and your 7 wire trailer. This is why the 4 wire ground is not connected. If it was connected there is potential to pass current exceeding the capacity of the 4 wire connector via the 4 wire plug. This product is made to make your life easy when installing a 7 wire plug on a vehicle that already has a 4 wire plug or you will be installing one of the T-harnesses on. If you do want to use it on a temporary basis you could connect the ground yourself or just let the trailer ground through the hitch. This isn't the best option but for quick a d dirty it'll work, just be sure that the other extra leads cannot short to ground and they may become hot when the trailer is connected.

Excellent 4-pin to 7pin trailer adapter
I borrowed a friends pop-up camper and it had a 7-pin connection. My truck has a 4-pin connector. I bought this adapter hoping that the 4-pin flat adapter would plug into my truck and allow the trailer lights, brakes, and turn signals to function. I didn't need the other wires for the trip and I wrapped them in electrical tape and left them unconnected. The adapter worked exactly as expected and made the trailer legal to tow. If you have a brake kit, or need to charge your trailers battery or have another auxiliary circuit that needs power then you'll have to connect the other wires. But just to adapt a 4-pin to a 7-pin trailer connector for lights only, this couldn't be any easier.

Time will tell
This CURT 7-way converter worked fine in conjunction with the Tow Ready 118304 T-One Connector Assembly on my 2005 Toyota Sienna van. I had to replace a Hopkins 7-way which broke in two when I plugged in my trailer plug. This CURT plugged nicely into the connector assembly. I also have a brake controller and a lead from the vehicle battery for charging the battery on my popup. So depending on your setup, you may or may not have extra wires. The wires on the this CURT could stand to be about 6" longer. I had to wrestle to get them in the body of the vehicle as I desired. Winter salt corrosion is the bane of these things so time will tell how it will hold up after winter.

Inexpensive 7-Way, works, but could be better
For the price, I am not terribly disappointed with this 7-Way outlet. It works. However, the wiring instructions could have been included to make it easier to wire it up. There was an extra wire that we had trouble explaining at first, and probably could have avoided hassle if it was clearly identified. When we wired up the 7-Way, we noticed some bleed-over/insignificant short in the outlet. Based on the levels we were seeing, we just assumed it is the normal shorts that are present in any vehicle. However, after replacing the battery on my truck, I am starting to wonder if the outlet itself has a short because my brake controller now thinks the trailer is connected all the time, even when it is not. I am not disappointed with this 7-Way outlet -- it does work. I suppose I expected a little better quality, a little better documentation, and no bleed-over between the lines. If I end up replacing this one, I will probably go ahead and get a Reese outlet since it is about the same price anyway.

Doesn’t work. Left brake lights worked, right did not.
I bought this a few months ago and haven’t been able to use it until now. Unfortunately Amazon says the return window has closed.. After I got the adapter plugged in and grounded, the left brake lights and blinkers worked great but the right did not. We tried everything trying to get them to work, thinking that the adapter was brand new, there’s no way it could be that. After checking the car to make sure the plug was working and the trailer to make sure bulbs weren’t blown we thought buying a new adapter was the only thing we could do. The new adapter worked great (different brand from a retail store nearby) Seller, if you’re reading this, would you please send me a replacement? The product you sent me is broken and does not work correctly. I’ll remove this review if you’re able to help. I just want an adapter that works.

Nice that the extra 3 wires are exposed and have connectors attached.
Unused wires are exposed for future use if needed. Hooks 4 way trailer plug to rv type plug easily.

Does not come with bracket
My baad, I was looking for the cheapest way, and I got it. Well, it does not come with mounting bracket. So if you want to mount this as it should be instead of zip tieing it like I did, watch what you buy.

Recommend with a "make better" tip...
I installed this 7-pin connector within hours of receiving it. To make it better, I applied lots of "liquid tape" on its back side (not shown on the picture) - where its wires go into its connector part. Then, wrapped lots of electrical tape on its joining part joint as well. This created double protection to stop crud / salt getting into its insides. IMO, sealing this joining area should be mandatory at factory. Overall, I like it. Easy to install and works great. And being plastic, it won't rust out from weather / road salt exposure either.... If wondering, I'm a certified engineer. Thus, I focus on construction that promotes long term usage without problems (that could have been prevented at the factory). I'd recommend this product to others - if they apply their own better seal (in its wire / connector seam area).
