HEAVY DUTY HITCH
THIS IS A VERY HEAVY DUTY HITCH AND WILL NOT GIVE ANY SWAY OR VIBRATIONS IN THE LOAD. I USE IT TO CARRY BICYCLES IN FROM AND IT WORKS GREAT.

Nice simple kit but damaged during transit
The media could not be loaded. I ordered this receiver hitch to allow for a lightweight plow to be mounted on my pickup. Unfortunately, Amazon's packing department decided to put this heavy piece of steelwork in a large unwieldy flimsy box. Consequently, it was damaged in shipping (dropped?), and after consultation with the manufacturer, I was advised to return the item for replacement. Obviously, Amazon don't have an option for returning an item due to damage and so I had to choose some other return reason (unsuitable or incompatible) meaning that this defective item may likely be recycled into stock for some other sucker to receive. Of course, I had to try to repackage in the beaten up box to return, and to add insult to injury, I was charged $12 return shipping! I fully intend to buy this hitch again but I won't make the same mistake of buying through Amazon.

Not cheap, need two people to install, but it works well
Only a small notch on the bottom edge of the front spoiler. It fit well and I did most of the prep myself, lying on the floor under my 2017 Chevy half ton. However, you will need a second person to put it up, over the bolts and get it secured. Also some type of retainer to keep the bolts from being pushed back up in to the frame would have been a great addition to the supplied bolts. Overall I'm pleased, but it's not a project I wold expect everyone to take on. If you're not mechanically inclined have someone install it for you.

I'm happy it was the best one
I'm a Mechanical Engineer and a mechanic with all the tools. After researching front hitches for my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500, I picked the Curt 31069 and after mounting, I'm happy it was the best one. I didn't want to cut a hole in the transmission guard like the Reese hitch required. The Curt hitch does require drilling, which is a pain, but it doesn't appear there is a better way. The Curt also is the most hidden front hitch since the receiver is welded to the underside of the crossbar. Some reviews claim less than an hour install. Maybe if you put the truck on a lift and have one or more helpers and have done several of these. Otherwise, if you are alone and take some pains with cutting the facia trim carefully so it doesn't look terrible, it will take much longer. Took me about 4 hours. Even with two floor jacks, aligning the hitch to mark the drill holes before trimming the facia was tedious. The requirement to drill 17/64" holes is a joke since a 1/2" bit works fine. It is still challenging to drill four holes laying on the ground thru the frame. After drilling the holes and confirming the hole alignment, I used the two floor jacks (see pictures) to raise the hitch up and down several times to trim the facia just enough to clear the hitch. If you cut the facia like the directions show, it will be too large and look terrible. MIne looks rough close-up, but from a distance, it turned out fine. I also added a black hitch cover and it's hard to tell there is a hitch. As for clearance, mine is 8-1/2" at the bottom of the receiver. The facia is 10" so you lose 1-1/2". Not too bad for the usefulness of a front hitch.

Quick Easy Installation
The Curt hitch was installed on a 2014 Chev Silverado Z71 with a trailering package and off road suspension. The hitch is well made and nicely painted. This installation required drilling 4 holes in the frame and using 2 existing holes for a total of 6 holes that are used for 1/2 inch mounting bolts. I chose to have it mounted by a local shop with a lift. Two workers had it installed in about 30 minutes. This truck has the LT trim that did not require any cutting of any trim or metal under the front bumper. However, it does push up the bottom edge of the plastic trim up a little. Other trims may require cutting a notch in the trim to clear the hitch. The hitch is quite low due to the design of the truck. The center of the hitch is about 9 1/2 inches above the ground with 20" wheels. The hitch does not extend beyond the bumper. The locking pin will be located under the bumper. If you intend to use it for a light duty snowplow it is possible that a front 2" leveling kit will be needed to raise the hitch to the plow manufactures recommended level. A class III hitch is designed for a 500 pound max tongue weight. This is a good hitch at a reasonable price.

Great strong hitch
It's a great hitch. You do have to drill 4 holes in the frame to mount it. It tells you what size bit. I believe it was a 11/32 which I ordered online from home depot for $6. With the screw on fish wire its a pretty easy install. Took me about an hr. I bungeed one side of the hitch around the frame so I could hold the other side up to put the nuts on. It's a little heavy but can be installed by one person as I did.

Good product, if I made from scratch would be same design.
Bought this for the front of my 2016 dbl cab 4.3L v6 silverado.. Mainly for a small snow plow.. Fits easy, used a jack to hold it up. You can drill holes with 1/2 bit, but you'll need to ream the holes out. Otherwise pulling bolts through with fish wire gets hung up.. So used a 9/16 drill bit which worked perfectly. I used a big drill and a couple 2x4s of wood to use as leverage on the ground to push up on the drill.. Longer the 2x4, the more force can be placed drilling up through frame. I had to trim a little of the plastic, maybe a half inch or so.. Hitch it's self is well made, not cheap or flimsy.. Comes with 6 grade 8 bolts torqued to 110 lbs.. 2 holes are in the frame from factory, 4 you'll need to drill out. I used red loctite along with the included locking nuts. Overall great item.. Normally I make my own hitches.. But being this is already made for cheaper than I could build one from scratch, it was a no brainer.. Good job to the curt company on design and materials used.. I can tell this hitch will support more than it's label claims.

Not all that difficult to install.
Read the "fish wire technique" it works very well. I fed the fish wire thru the drilled holes and out the access hole, feed the wire thru the washer plate then threaded bolts onto the fishing wire. Once I pushed the hardware back thru the access hole I pulled it back thru the drilled hole very easily. Seriously the toughest part was drilling the holes in the frame. Good ideal to use a lift as I did, I think it would be hard to do on your back due to the weight of the hitch and space to drill the holes.

Good Quality
It fits my 2014 chevy perfect. It took me 90MIN to install by my self. Be prepared to drill 4 holes in your frame and get a buddy to help with the alignment for the hitch.

Great product
Install is relatively easy, maybe 1.5 hours work tops. Works very well, have used it to winch my truck several times.

Installation was easy with the supplied fish wire it holds the bolts ...
Fits my truck perfectly. Installation was easy with the supplied fish wire it holds the bolts by the threads and pulls them into place. It doesn't stick out at all. I had to trim a 4" piece of the lowest trim only. It tucks up under the truck bummper perfectly. You will need a drawbar that is long and has the ball higher than the receiver. Like a 4" rise one.
