I Can't Believe How Well This Works.
I really really hate defrosting in a Microwave. It makes the meat icky and takes flavor away. Plus to defrost the middle part the outer gets half cooked. It is horrid. So, I just take meat out to defrost the old fashioned way. But, the meat does not always defrost completely - especially in the winter. There had to be something better then a microwave to defrost in less the leaving it during an afternoon to try to defrost. So, I looked on Amazon and sure enough! there were these defrosting 'mats'. I got Cuisinart since it's a brand I do use and know to be good. And the price was really good. When I got it I was confused at first. It was just this metal piece and nothing else. I saw no batteries or plug in were needed. The next day I defrosted a steak on it. Again confused. The metal did not get warm. It was just like it was before I put the steak on it. But, I just left the steak. An Hour later the bottom looked like quite a bit had defrosted. I turned it over. And the whole steak was defrosted about a half hour later. The metal never got warm. It was like it always was but, somehow it defrosted my steak. Nicely. I did put a towel under it because the pictures always had one and I thought maybe I should. The 'mat' cleaned up easy. Just quick and easy. This is an amazing product. I wish it was something more known to people. Imagine the working people if they were aware of this and could defrost stuff after work and not have to resort to a microwave. I do know alot of people are like me and hate microwave defrosting. Anyway, this simple easy little metal mat does magic.

Not dishwasher safe
In doing my part to promote male stereotypes, I didn’t really read the instructions (or even the description) that came with this, a shocker I’m sure ! A single trip through the dishwasher and the coating is ugly and fading away. To be clear it’s entirely my fault for not reading instructions, or description. So just as a courtesy to the other stereotypical men out there, they clearly say “not dishwasher safe” and they mean it. Also this works pretty good, I would guesstimate it cut thawing time about in half.

I didn’t believe it would work to speed up thawing but I was wrong, this is great! No more worrying if I didn’t pull something out to thaw in time.

Defrosts quickly
Love this product. I can’t believe how fast my meats defrost on this plate. Even my 2” steaks defrost much quicker than just putting them on the counter or frig.

This product is awesome!
This works exactly as described. I had 3lbs of polish sausage from Sam's that was frozen. I ran hot water over the tray as described and laid the flat side down. Waited about an hour or so and flipped it to the other side. Waited about the same amount of time and could cut off what I wanted to cook and refreeze the remaining. I left the rest on the tray for a short period and it was ready to use. It worked great for me and what I needed it for. I can see where I will use this often. I would recommend.

It works!!!
When I ordered it, I was a bit pessimistic but after experimenting I found it does do what it was intended for. Put a frozen 8 ounce boneless chicken breast from the freezer on it and an hour later it was defrosted and even soft enough to slice and cut into pieces in preparation for stir frying. The same was true for a pound block of ground meat. So yes I would recommend the defrosting tray.

Happy Son-in-law
We gave one of these to our Son-in-law for is birthday this year. He does much of the cooking and one of his big things is broiled fish. He has never been happy with just taking the fish out of the freezer and letting it sit on a plate to defrost; it simply takes too long. He was absolutely thrilled to receive the Cuisinart BBQ Defroster. According to him, he almost uses it evey night. It doesn't dry out the fish, or make it hard and rubbery like using a microwave but it certainly cuts the wait time in half. Great design and high quality product from Cuisinart! Cleans up easily and sure makes cooking a lot faster.

whatever they coated this piece of aluminum with (black substance), came off the tray and stuck to the very first chicken breast I ever defrosted on it. I doubt very much that Cuisinart made this absolute junk, don't even consider it, depending on the coating it could be very damaging to your health.

really works
I had heard about this product and thought there is no way it works. A friend was given one and raved about it so I decided to try it. It's great and thaws things much faster than any other way.

Love it so much!!
It works beautifully. 2 pork chops defrosted in less than an hour. Fantastic for dinner after work. I just wish it was a little bigger.
