Fit Perfectly

Fit perfect! I’m 5’2-5’3, around 155lb and ordered a medium. The shoulders, waist, length and length of the arms fit perfectly! The bonnet was nice and thick material. I was unsure about the size to order bc I’m short & long dresses are usually too long on me, but this felt like it was made for me ????

Order up a size

Perfect for Pioneer Day at kids school. Deff order up a size or 2! These are not reg clothing sizes. My daughter is 9. She’s very tall for her age. She can usually fit adult small no issues. I figured I’d order her a med to be a little big so she can wear clothes under. I saw another review with a pic & the girl was around same size & they ordered a med. i ended up ordering a large, glad I did! It’s deff big on her but it works perfect for what we needed. It was long so I had to hem it.

This is a great costume. I purchased a medium and I was able to wear a tight-fitting shirt and pants underneath for warmth (I knew I was going to be outside all day, and I didn't want to wear a jacket on top and not be able to see the costume). I'm 5'4" and 130 lbs, for reference. I usually need to wear "petite" length pants, but this length was fine. Not too long on me, and I didn't need to hem it. If you're taller, lit will probably be above your ankles, as the picture shows. It's a polyester-type fabric. People thought it was very cute. I've washed it once so far, and it held up fine. My recommendation is if you're going to wear clothing underneath, go up a size.

Was perfect for my daughter's Pioneer program. She liked it so much she's probably going to be a Pioneer for Halloween too. :-)

My daughter's school program this year was "Pioneer Life" so this costume was perfect. It fit great after we hemmed it a bit...she was able to do all the dances without any trouble. The back closes at the neck with a single piece of velcro. It held on fine during the entire hour-long program, but if you're going to wear it for something longer or where you might be moving around a lot, it would be easy to put a button on. The fabric is really quite sturdy for a costume and when we hemmed it, it was just like hemming a "real" dress. The integrated apron and bonnet really tie the whole thing together and give an authentic look.

Adorable for Colonial Fair!

My daughter needed an outfit to wear to her school's annual Colonial Fair. She's 5', about 110lbs, wears a size 8-10 in women's clothing. I ordered the large because other reviewers stated the costume tends to run small. It was a little snug in the waistline, and I used fusible webbing to hem the length. We steamed the wrinkles out, added a small basket of flowers, and the costume looked fantastic! The hat really makes this costume. She received so many compliments and I will be donating it to another child to wear for next year's Colonial Fair.

4 stars for the hat, 2 stars for the dress = average 3 stars Fabric does not stretch, shoulders are narrow. Because it is 1 piece, the fit is challenging. My typical size for street clothes - XL top, 16-18 pants. The hat was wonderful - best one I have seen when shopping for Pioneer outfit. The brim is very stiff and looks great when wearing. The ties for the hat are very long and decorated. The only drawback with the hat is that the ties for the hat are only fabric print on one side - the back of them is white/unlined. When you tie it in a bow, it was challenging to make it look good. As much as I wanted the hat, I sent both back because the dress did not work.

Runs Small

This costume runs very small so order a size larger than you usually wear. It was a great costume and was long enough for my 5'9" frame. The only negative is that it cannot be washed or dry cleaned--only spot cleaned. I would think this day and time that all clothing would be able to be washed.
