Perfect bed for hairy dogs that like laying on tile
I've had 3 Australian Shepherds and none of them ever would use the beds I tried on them including $100+ pet beds. Sadly the oldest of the 3 passed before finding these beds which seem to be the perfect solution. My 2 younger dogs love these beds so much I had to get two of them so they wouldn't fight over it. This bed is nice because unlike other more common pet beds its very breathable and stays cool as well as being better for long term health for my dogs since now I can get them to stop laying on the hard tile. I emptied out my full clothes basket on top of it and left it for awhile to try and give it a more familiar smell rather than factory fresh before letting my dogs see it for the first time to help adjust them to it. I rated chew proof 1 star because I feel like that is based entirely on the dog(s) in question and neither of mine would chew on something like this, but if they did I feel like they could destroy it with enough time and effort. The only downside I can personally think of is that it doesn't come preassembled.

Sturdy, comfy, lightweight, cool
We have a puppy that's a herding breed baby and referring to her as high energy is putting it mildly. The only time she ever slowed down was to sleep. She will now relax and it's due to this Coolaroo elevated bed. All other beds prior to the Coolaroo were chewed and destroyed, never used as a bed. We feared she might eat it because herding breeds are used to nipping livestock, they mouth everything and everyone. She has chewed on it, but it has held up beautifully!! She no longer chews but she had to test it at first. She takes treats to this bed for snack time, plays with toys in her bed, relaxes in her bed which is a miracle! And she has even napped in this bed, which she has never done. Not ever. This is a big win for my high energy/completely bonkers pup. We didn't know she was capable of relaxing to be honest. So thrilled she hasn't eaten it, torn it apart, or otherwise harmed her lovely bed. It's so good we have a different model that folds down, kinda like an umbrella, also made by Coolaroo that you can fold up, slide in its carrying case and take it everywhere! This company has thought of everything when it comes to elevated beds and I'm going to give them to everyone for their birthday or Christmas whichever comes first. For large breed dogs that have a tendency for sore joints this is for them. It gets them off the hard floor, is very comfy and may save them from some pain down the road. Even little dogs are prone to knee & back issues. Our senior tiny dogs LOVE being up off the floor and turn into a coddle puddle on this elevated bed. I wish I had bought these beds earlier. I put one in the kitchen when I'm preparing meals and instead of being underfoot begging for food, they're chilled out just looking at me. I don't know what kind of magic they weave into their beds but they certainly know how to keep my dogs happy, cozy and comfortable. I have been paying for my own goodies from Amazon since the 90's. I don't get paid for my opinion nor do I receive free products.

Here are TIPS for assembling this bed!
My review is primarily to give TIPS FOR ASSEMBLING the Cooleroo Elevated Dog Bed. To read my product review, scroll below. TIP #1: Take deep breaths, take your time, and have patience! Despite the simple instruction it may take a half hour for you to put this bed together. But once it's done, it's done and you're dog(s) will be so happy. :) TIP #2: Make sure that each metal leg has a bolt that will FIT. There are four bolts, one for each corner of the bed. Take a bolt and screw it into one of the metal legs until it's there's about an inch left; if it fits, leave it in (until you start assembling the bed, at which point you'll have to remove it). Repeat this for each metal leg. If you find that one of the bolts doesn't fit one leg very well, try the bolt on another leg. If you discover that one (or more) legs don't have ANY bolts that fit, return the bed or ask the vendor for replacement bolts (I don't know if they'll provide any, though). TIP #3: Duct tape is your friend! There are three components to each corner: 1) Small spring washer (silver color); 2) the bolt; and 3) a black "plastic insert." This plastic insert is curved so that it will fit the shape of the rounded metal leg. When you're screwing the bolt into the leg, the plastic insert can shift so that it no longer fits the curve. I used some small pieces of duct tape to hold that plastic insert piece in place so I could focus on screwing in the bolt — it made this step SO much easier. TIP #4: HOW TO FIX THAT FUNKY CORNER OF THE FRAME THAT STICKS UP IN THE AIR! First, understand that this is TOTALLY NORMAL. This bed uses tension to keep the fabric taut and hold the frame together. Once you've screwed the entire frame together, place it upright so that Legs A, B and C are touching the ground; Leg D will be up the the air. Legs A and D are opposite each other. Use one hand to hold down Leg A (already on the floor) and use your other hand to push Leg D down. Tension will kick in and suddenly you'll have all four legs on the ground and the fabric pulled taut. You did it! TIP #5: Tape the hex key to a bed leg so you don't lose it. At some point this bed will need to have its screws tightened and you don't want to have to hunt to find that tiny hex key. ============================ PRODUCT REVIEW I bought my first Cooleroo Elevated Dog Bed in October 2018 (large, Brunswick green). I have a beagle/pit mix who weighs around 55lb. She LOVES this bed, which we keep on our screened porch. Last summer she had ACL surgery and has developed arthritis since then, and the elevation makes her so much more comfortable. The bed did great until about March 2021. Suddenly one of the bolts would no longer fit more than 1/8" inside the hole, so it kept falling out and the bed would collapse while my dog was on it. I tried buying a replacement bolt at Home Depot that was just a hair thinner, but I couldn't find one. In June 2021, I bought a replacement bed — same size and color — and put it together today. The 2018 and 2021 versions of this bed are a bit different. First, the 2018 leg bars had indents around the holes, while the 2021 leg bars are smooth all the way around. This actually the 2021 bed assembly a little bit easier. Second, the gaps at the corners of the 2021 frame are much smaller, which might make the 2021 bed a bit safer (your dogs feet have less chance of getting stuck in the holes). Third, the 2018 version didn't have any plastic pieces and used Phillips-head bolts; you had to use your own screwdriver. The 2021 version includes some plastic caps that go between the bolt and the leg, and the bed comes with hex bolts and a hex key. Personally I prefer the Phillips-head bolts because I know where my screwdrivers are; those hex keys are tiny and easily lost (hence taping it to the bed's leg). That said, assembling both beds took about the same amount of time (about 30 minutes for me). Otherwise the beds are basically the same. I think the plastic caps on the 2021 version will provide some additional stability — I hope so, anyway. But then again, they look like cheap plastic so TBD if they will actually hold up. My dog has thrown up on her older bed and it was very easy to clean; just hose it down and clean the fabric with dish soap, water and a sponge. She has spent literally hundreds of hours on this bed, and at under $30 that makes it extremely budget-friendly. It's also a good, affordable gift to give fellow dog parents. My overall rating is 4 stars. I'd give it 5 stars except that 1) it only lasted 2½ years and 2) the instructions should explain about how to push down the fourth corner so the bed sits flat on the floor. I've seen lots of reviewers say they've returned the bed because of this, thinking the frame was broken when it isn't, and that's a shame. Editing the instructions to point this out would save their customers a lot of frustration and disappointment.

VERY DIFFICULT Assembly.
Assembly was frustratingly hard... for me - a tenacious tinkering type grandma - doing it alone. Videos did not help. Coolaroo support doesn't answer their phone. No online chat - like their message said. I measured the poles and loosened all screws - make sure all poles are fully connected. That last pole was off alignment and took me several hours to finally get in place. My puppy LOVES it. She was laying on right away and licking my hand in appreciation while I was working on it. Terra cotta color matches our tile paver floors perfectly. Overall - I think this cot is nicer than the dog pillow beds and will be a great training tool for "Place/bed down" command. Buyers just beware it may take more than 10 minutes to assemble - unless you are an engineer or have 2 strong people to help.

Brilliant and lasting
I don’t often leave product reviews but as this bed has lasted this long I felt that it deserved it. I bought this 8 years ago, for five years it was inside the house but for the remaining three years it has been outside in the garden. My dog still uses this and it still supports her weight when she does whizzing round all excited. The material that the bed is made out of is only just beginning to break down from being outside. For 8 years of abuse this item is well worth its money. It’s her favourite bed she only wish is that she could move it round the garden with the sunshine; herself

comfy budget raised bed.
This is the first raised bed that we have bought. Our dog has arthritis and gets really stiff, his old bed was always very smelly and held moisture when he got wet. He likes the raised bed, and is much comfier. I really like that the air can circulate, and so far there is no smell at all. The mesh is good for keeping it cool, but we have bought a vet pad to put on top to keep him warm and cosy. The mesh has quite a lot of give and is not that comfy on it's own but with a towel / fleece or particularly the vet matting it is really comfy. I am hoping that the mesh does not loose shape over time and become saggy. It is a little wider than some others that I have seen. There is a bit of movement in the frame, but eve with the dog and my two girls on the bed it seems quite secure, so hopefully it will last well. The weight limit for the medium bed is 50kg and our lab is 32kg. He is a medium sized lab and there is plenty of room for him to stretch out. Overall: Happy with the purchase, especially for the price I paid. Definitely more comfy and hygenic than his old big cushion.

It's perfect for summer
We have a 50kg Rhodesian Ridgeback, and he absolutely loves it. Given his weight, we struggled to find any that would support him, but this bed doesn't even creak when he gets on. He can spread out, curl up, lounge around... It's perfect for summer. For winter, we'll just throw a few covers over him! We also bought the medium one for our 35kg female Ridgeback. She hates 'going to bed' but, once 'in', she too can stretch out and curl up as she wishes. No problems at all. Very easy to assemble and seems to be very sturdy so far. Highly recommended.

Wonderful
I have three of these beds. I use a small one as an extra shelf in my airing cupboard as air circulates through it giving me more usable space. The other two I have for my Border Collie one medium which is great for him lounging on during the day & a large one for sleeping at night, giving ample room to stretch out. Bonus is as my wet dog dries off after walking in the rain any dirt that was missed on his coat falls through the very fine, strong mesh as a grit and is easily hoovered up. Worth every penny especially if discounted & I would definitely recommend.
