Studless winter tire auto tech comes to bicycles?
This is the ONLY game in town I'm aware of for studless, winter bicycle tires that deliver some grip on snow and ice. The surface of the tire is covered with rubber hairs and sipes (i.e. tiny slits) making it somewhat similar to a studless winter automotive tire. In the automotive world, quality studless winter tires with soft rubber compounds and siping patterns can be competitive with studded tires in most conditions besides smooth ice. There is a not insignificant rolling resistance penalty compared to regular tires, but the point of the tire is to deliver higher grip in winter conditions, not minimize rolling resistance. Disclaimer: I'm not an expert in this area, just an educated consumer. I was looking for a tire with improved winter (snow/ice) performance but without all the problems of going to studded tires.

Stable on slush, but watch out for ice and deep snow
Tires are quite grippy, and the extra width gives a comfortable amount of contact with the road in wetter conditions. I live in an area that sees somewhat regular snow and rain through the winter. I found that these perform awfully on ice patches. Simply not enough traction to dig into the ice. If you find yourself needing to travel over those sorts of conditions regularly, I recommend studded tires instead. Likewise, deeper snow gave these quite a bit of trouble as well. These won't get you through snow banks like a fat tire bike might. That said, on two inches of fresh powder or less these perform admirably. You'll want to take it slow and steady in those conditions. When the salt hits the road and it all turns to slush they keep their traction as well. For someone that does light commuting in winter time with mixed conditions, I would recommend these. If you are going to be regularly commuting in winter and expect to face the worst of the season, I'd suggest springing for some studded tires instead.

Superb winter tires for light winter use
I now commute longer distances and won't ride in full snow storms anymore. Therefore I don't need a hard core studded winter tire with larger lugs. On 2 wheels winter riding is a challenge in traffic. What I needed was a tire that protects me from wiping out when riding in Fall through Spring on dry days where these is always the risk of hitting some unexpected slippery spots. I didn't want to deal with heavy/sluggish studded winter tires. I have used both the Nokia and Schwalbe lowest rolling resistance winter tires. Those are definitely still more for serious snow, but they make a 16 mile commute really slow and hard. These continentals take the approach of creating tiny sipes on the treat to create thousands of places where the tire grips. It works like a charm. Remarkably low rolling resistance for an all weather tire and also super quiet. No more "popcorn" noise from the carbide studs. If you need a good 3 season tire to protect against mild winter, that rides almost as smooth an efficiently as a summer tire, then this is the answer. I really love riding on these. I will swap them out for summer as they would probably wear out super fast in high heat conditions.

No issues, but don’t think you will actually be able to ride in the snow
I bought them hoping that i would be able to ride on snow-covered bike paths here in the chicago area. Definitely not the case for me. I crashed at least three times trying to get through snow at low speeds (about 1-3”depth). But on the plus side, great grip in muddy conditions and no punctures at all. Maybe studded tires would work (I’ll try that next). Or maybe its best to just not ride in the snow!

No traction on ice
Not enough traction on ice

Intense traction in all conditions.
These tires make my bike feel like it's glued to the ground, not in one place obviously but like a tank or something very heavy. Absolutely no slipping and sliding, and I have now experienced these tires in wet conditions, freezing rain, slush, glare ice, heavy snow, etc. I personally have it on my back wheel only, working as a team with a studded tire on the front. I dont know if this is the best configuration out there because I have no desire to change it.

Not what I expected!
Put them on my 2020 Trek Domane, for the winter. They pedal a little harder then the smaller smooth tires they replaced. The only time they help is with light snow. No good in deeper snow or ice. They even slide on the smooth icy snow left from snowplows.

Exceptional Tire (700x37)
Winters in Chicago can be rough. However, these tires have proven to be very reliable and performant in the worst weather. Riding quickly and confidently in single digit temperatures, snowy and icy roads with no slipping or sliding. Tires grip on asphalt and steel bridges like no other tire. The only complaint is that the tire measures at 29mm mounted on a Velocity Dyad rim. Would like a wider tire, but the 42mm is just a bit to big for my fender'ed bike.

Good Winter Tire
Have been using this 700C tire for about a month on the front of my bike. I have a knobby tire on the back. I am very pleased with the set up. It is a good all-around tire in winter conditions except for glare ice. I don't travel in really snowy conditions, mostly packed snow, slush and a bit of ice. It rides fairly fast at higher pressures on clear pavement, much better than some old studded tires I tried last year.

Size confused
Box says 35c, tire says 37mm, order form says 700x37/37, they are probably 35c because they are quite a bit narrower then my 38c tires. I thought I was buying 37c, I wish I bought the 42/42 size, eider is apparently better for winter. Other than that I’m happy with the tread!

Nicht Rund
Habe zwei dieser "Hand Made in Germany" Mäntel gekauft.

Great for normal winter days
I've used various studded winter tires for years. These are much faster and smoother than the studded ones. Great for normal winter days. Great on dry or wet asphalt, hard pack snow, fresh snow and slush, not as good on loose packed snow or ice. Dropping the tire pressure helps.
