Should have saved the box
First off, contrary to the other reviews, my seat stays up just fine with both the lid and seat up. I don't know why it is different than the others, but the hinge is a non-issue for me. This is good because I was fully expecting to have to modify it somehow to keep the seat up when needed. I say that I should have kept the box for two reasons. My wife was anxious to get rid of the trash from Christmas and burned the box shortly after Christmas. Yes, it was a Christmas present. Yes, it was for my wife. And yes, believe it or not, she did ask for it. Yes, my wife is a keeper because she asked for the stained old plastic toilet seat to be replaced instead of asking for jewelry. (and no, it was not the only thing that I got for her! :) ) Getting rid of the box made me not return the seat. First issue (maybe) was that there were no mounting screws. I cannot say for certain that the mounting screws did not get burned with the rest of the post-Christmas debris, but they weren't within the plastic wrapping of the seat where you might expect them. If they were loose within the box, then that is bad packaging. Second issue, and much more important, was that a chunk of paint 3/4" long and 1/8" wide came off in my hand from the edge of the toilet seat immediately after installing it. The rest of the paint seems to be pretty solid so I am guessing that was an impact point during shipping, but nonetheless, I have a brand new chipped toilet seat. I have not contacted the seller because I don't have the box and don't want to try to find one to ship it back. So honestly I have no idea how they would handle the issue. This square toilet is a pain and this is a ridiculous amount of money to pay for a toilet seat but unfortunately that was the hand I was dealt with buying this house. At least I have a wife that asks for toilet seats for Christmas! :)

Finally found one.
Why did they think it was a good idea to make toilet bowls this shape? I have owned my house for 9 years and always dreaded the day my old toilet seat would break. Then that day came and I tried to buy a seat from my local home improvement store. Surprise! No one carries a trapezoidal shaped toilet seat. Krom be praised, I found this toilet seat and bought it immediately. The shape is right, the mount holes line up, and it is white. That's it. No quite close, no anti-bacterial hogwash, no LED lights. It is a trapezoidal shaped toilet seat that fits my oddball toilet. It does it's job while I'm doing my business and I love it for that reason. If you are somehow breaking this seat, you should really look into a more industrial strength toilet.

Comfy but doesn't open all the way
I have looked at all the hardware stores in our city in search for more comfortable toilet seats to replace the sqaure seats that we had that came with the house when we purchased it. We needed to have it fit on top of a round bowl. We could not find any. My search led me to Amazon and we found these seats. The reviews did say that they did not open all the way but we purchased it anyways. Just like the reviews said, the lids do not open all the way and one does not stay open when both seat and lid are up, making it cumbersome for men. Otherwise, the seats are comfy and I am happy to have a replacement product that is almost perfect.

The seat is great...
The lid is a hard/compressed particle board and the screws went in okay. When it was used it came apart. Wood "fuzz" was stuck to the screws. The seat of the toilet is sturdy tho and works perfectly. I like the fact it is "squared" as it does make the sitting part easier. However, it does remove the length so it doesn't go down all the way and it's not that big of a deal as it's not something one is in contact with anyway. But if you have a squared bowl or one that is more in tune with the shape/size of the toilet seat then it'll be perfect.

Perfect fit for toilet
It's almost impossible to find the so-called square-front toilet seat because Eljer no longer makes them. This did the trick perfectly. Too bad it's not available in the exact color needed, but that's life.
