overall good buy w\some caveats
Got these in size 8, India Ink color. The color is not as pictured but I knew that by doing a google search before ordering. It is a medium slate navy color. I normally wear a 6 or 8 in pants and these are very fitted and flattering. Usually in Columbia pants an 8 is a bit loose on me but these do say "fitted" in the description. If you want an easy fit for outdoor activities size up. The length could be a bit longer as I can only wear these with flats or a sneaker type trail shoe. Fitted in thighs and hips but work well with my straighter frame. I think curvy girls would not like the fit. For reference I am 5'8" and 147 lbs. as far as the material goes, there is seaming across the front of upper legs that is just slightly annoying but because they are mostly nylon I didn't expect a soft cozy feel. They appear to have nice stretch and recovery. Just tried them on today so no experience washing. Overall for around 21 bucks a good buy for a water resistant lightweight pant to take on my upcoming trip to Ireland.

Bought one pair of two diff colors- sizing is totally off. Either huge or tiny.
After reading reviews, I ordered a size Large in the olive green and the persimmon-ish colors but when they arrived, it looked like I ordered an XS and an XL. Both are clearly marked as Large but neither fit like any Large I've ever tried on. The olive green pair have a much larger waist compared to the width of the legs. If you are more of an apple shape, these might work for you but if you're like me and more of a rectangle, these are an awkward fit overall. The drawstring waist was able to be adjusted to the point where I might be able to keep this pair and wear them hiking- they're still loose but comfortable rather than sloppy. I would prefer if they'd been a smidge smaller but they're not a total loss. Three stars if I'd just ordered the olive pair. The orange pair are where everything goes off the rails. The calves are so narrow, I wasn't sure I'd be able to even get these pants up to my knees. I did manage to get them entirely on but the calves and thighs are so tight, they'd be useless as pants for any activity other than standing still in one spot. Any movement felt like a seam would split. For the record, I'm 5' 8" and 155 lbs so usually fit into a Medium in most brands. These fit, seriously, like a Small. The waist actually fit decently but the legs were bizarrely poorly proportioned for the supposed size. I would probably have to gone up to an XXL for the legs to fit with some room (since there's no stretch to this fabric and I'd want to be able to bend) but then the waist would have been way too large. The colors of both pairs are nice and vibrant and the fabric feels like it will be light and good for hiking but I am stunned that a giant company like Columbia would produce pants with such glaring inconsistencies in quality control. The sizing is so off, I'm wondering if these are irregulars. Though there's no stretch to the fabric, I would guess you could probably order your regular size if you're ordering the green pair since they seem fairly true to size in spite of the waist being so much larger than the legs. If you're going for the orange pair, good luck to you.

Nice pants. Definitely buy 2 sizes up!
Although I will be returning these because I found a pair that I like better (Prana "Halle"), these *almost* were keepers. They are nicely tailored so that they don't look like typical goofy hiking pants - a slim cut with straight legs, probably best for people with minimal curves. The material is thin, textured stretchy nylon that has a good amount of give and passed the Squat Test without binding or revealing skin. It is pretty noisy/swishy + crinkly sounding, however. Length was perfect on my 5'5" frame. I am ~ 115# with a boyish build: based on comments about sizing I purchased a size 8 which fit closely without being too tight. Good price for decent looking hiking pants.

Not a good fit in either L or XL
For reference, I'm 5'3", 175 lbs, and pretty consistently a size 12 or a large in most brands. Based on the reviews for these pants, I was worried about the thighs or calves being tight, so I ordered both a L and an XL to compare the two. Neither worked for me. With the L, the fit was good in the waist and calves, but the thighs were tight when I was just standing, so bending over, crouching, or sitting would pull them even tighter. Not what I want in active pants. So I tried the XL. While the thighs fit well and allowed me to sit, crouch, etc., the waistband was huge and the drawstring could barely cinch enough to keep them up. The calves were also massive. In both pairs, the elastic cuffs at the ankles were too wide and hung loose and open. If I have an elastic band on the bottom, I want it to be a snug fit to keep debris out of my pants. The fabric was nice and lightweight and seemed like it would do well repelling water, but I would prefer a little more stretch in a pair of active pants. I'll be returning both sizes. The search continues!

NOT stretchy.
For reference, I'm 5'4" and around 160 lbs. I ordered the Large and they fit perfectly. I am not keeping them for the only reason that there is no stretch. I need these for hiking/backpacking, and if there is any climbing or uphill hiking involved, the person behind me is going to see my behind...LOL. 4 stars for fit but couldn't give a 5 for the lack of stretch.

Nice climbing/hiking pants
My daughter uses these for rock climbing, and they are perfect for what she needs. Also seem good for hiking.

Great for travel
Most size 10 Columbia pants give me a little breathing room. The Silver Ridge Stretch II pants fit just barely and that's why I labeled them somewhat small. However, they are great pants for wearing with tight tops because the front has a nice smoothing effect with no ties, extra fabric, etc. They actually have a slimming effect. However, I will need to wear a thong so no panty lines. I love them so much I will now buy the capri style. I purchased these pants as an alternative to jeans because they take up little room in a carry-on, dry quicker when washing out in hotel room, and they won't be as warm as jeans but I can still cover my legs. I am 5'7" and 150 lbs. If I weighed 155 these would not be comfortable and I might have camel toe. The 32 inseam is perfect for flip flops, athletic shoe, or a wedge-type shoe.
