A Great Camp or Emergency Lantern
I have two of these lanterns for emergency use in case of grid failure. They produce a very bright light and the attached handle is nice because you can hang the light or hold it in your hand without any trouble.

Quality made product
The media could not be loaded. Not much to say here as I have put most of my information in the video. Coleman is a brand we have all been using for literally years. This little lantern does not disappoint. HOWEVER, the two things I can not speak to are how this would fare if dropped & battery life. The plastic seems to be of fairly good quality and thick enough for camping & outdoor use.

Great lantern for adults or kids
This lantern is well made and altho very rugged not totally unattractive. I tested the run time and for the first 20+ hrs. on low was quite bright. Ran it for 30 hrs. on one set of batteries and for the last few hrs was dimmer... more like a night light, but was still going strong. This is an improvement over my last lantern (diff brand) which only ran for 6 hrs. (but was on high- only settling). I really like the fact that this has a high and low setting. You can light up a room and then use it for overnight. The strap is so great... easier to carry and I like that I can undo it to loop over just about anything to hang it up high. I like it so much I bought another one - so 2 for emergencies. Changing the batteries is good and bad. Entire battery case comes out pretty easy, but to open the case you have to push hard and is hard to tell which batteries go up and which down. So I marked + and - on the outside of the battery case to make it easier if done in power outage. Like others said the spot you push to turn it on is hard to find, wish they had put a bump there to feel it in the dark, but I will figure out a way to fix that, too. Is actually attractive enough to leave out where you can find it easy. If I was a kid I would want my daddy to buy me one for my tent. Later... possible power outage yesterday so I put new batteries in... so easy to just click out the battery case. And I put a fuzzy sticker on the on/off spot so easier to find. Luv these lanterns!

awesome
This lantern is so amazing -- and we don't begrudge it for almost ruining our marriage (ha). During the Sandy Superstorm, my husband and I would fight over this thing because it was SO BRIGHT and kind of fun to tote around. The only possible draw back is that in a power outtage, it is a little difficult to find the on button in the dark - so practice that ahead of time (for real). I'm now a pro though...and will note that I usually won the battle with my husband over it. (!) Now that we have power back, he uses it when he's working outside and I cannot even express how bright the light is that it produces. It has two levels - a dimmer lever and a SUPER BRIGHT level. You need to buy the $20 battery charger pack though if you really want to get the full use of this.

3 of those lanterns had passed Sandy test with my family and are still going on, working just fine
I have 3 of them, since 2011, used them in Hurricane Sandy in NYC and New Jersey, worked perfect, excellent illumination for apartment and outdoors, could be used under the rain, reliable, all 3 are still working, and now I am stacking up with D size batteries, D size adapters for 2-AA re-chargeable batteries and some AA eneloops in case another Sandy comes. This Coleman lantern is definitely the keeper. Bright/full mode is excellent for then one is looking for something in the apartment, but if there is no electricity, the low mood is pretty bright, bright enough for most tasks, as eyes adjust for darkness. Lanterns in low mode on Duracells or Energizers D-size batteries would seem to last for weeks. I had paid more for them then the cost on Amazon now, but under 30 dollars this lantern is an excellent value still.

Openinge The Battery Pack Lid Is Unbelieveably Difficult
I bought two of these lanterns from a local store about 5-7 years ago. I love everything about them. HOWEVER, the two that I bought from Amazon this week both had battery cartridges where the lid was almost impossible to open. Pressing the lid release tab did nothing by itself; it took tremendous pressure to push it all the way in, and it still would not release the lid. I finally got them open after about 20 minutes of applying all kinds of pressure to the lid hinge, the lid, and the lid release tab. I still don't know the procedure that finally got them open. Closing the lid after installing the batteries also took considerable pressure. I've had none of these problems with the two units I purchased years ago. Something's changed for the (much) worse in the manufacture of these recent battery containers.

Inexpensive, powerful, effective
I'd used Coleman lanterns ever since I was camping as a kid. While talking about lanterns with a friend he told me that I needed to move up to an LED lantern as it was safer and had better light. Based on the price and his suggestion, I bought the CPX 6 LED. I put it in my home office thinking it would be a convenient location to keep it between trips to the mountains. Within a week we had a power outage that lasted seven hours. The new lantern was right where I could grab it easily in the dark. The controls were easy to use, the light was intense and the adjustable strap meant I could put it where I wanted it as the evening wore on and I did different things. Very glad I got it.

good even light and i like it round the home ...
solid, works well, good even light and i like it round the home when the power goes out, two settings white light settings is good and last a very long time indeed on batteries. one minor niggle is i struggle to find the on/off switch as rather melts into the form of the body, but its a very minor comment. its a good light.
