Great for making the diagonal slashes!
I really liked how easy it was to slice through 6 layers of fabric to make a pot holder! I will use it again and again!

Could not make the blanket without this!
I read many reviews and decided to go with the Clover versus the other chenille cutter because it has a handle. The handle is absolutely NECESSARY! My hand would be so fatigued if I had bought the other cutter or used my scissors. The Clover worked perfectly! I was cutting through 3 layers of flannel about 45 inches square. I never had to click the blade to a sharper section. I was done quickly and my blanket looks so cute! A definite necessary tool if you are making a blanket. Some tips to make it easier: 1. snip the ends of the flannel to start the cut 2. hold the fabric down behind the cutter with your opposing hand flat on the table 3. that being said, cut on a flat surface 4. keep the cutter perpendicular to the table to keep the cut straight 5. I tested the cutter out and cut the last ten lines without cleaning out the lint build up and it cut great from the first cut to the last! There is a small channel under the blade that collects the excess lint so the blade does not get clogged up. Genius! 6. If the fabric you are using is rather thick it may be better to cut one or two layers at a time. I used standard flannel, 3 layers, and it worked great but could see how a heavier weave fabric could clog things up. 7. pre-wash your fabrics to cut down on lint build up Excellent purchase! I would definitely recommend it to a friend!

Handy gadget, if you need it - worth it to me!
I got this to use for making chenille pot holders. It works, but you do need to make about a half-inch snip in each row with scissors first, and I just use scissors for the shortest rows. It gets piled up with fuzz after a bit, but you can easily clean that out with a toothpick. How often you have to do that depends on how thick your flannel is. Still, it is SO MUCH easier on old hands than all that cutting with scissors that it's well worth the price if you are making very many. I've probably made around 8 sets of pot holders and am still on the first blade setting, but I was noticing on the last one that it might have been getting a big sluggish - so, I may need to put it on the next one. Even so, I can make a lot of pot holders with one blade, at this rate.

Bought this for doing faux chenille and I love it. I've done a few small "lovey" blankets for my daughter using denim as a base and 3-4 layers of flannel. I started a full-size blanket for one of my sons using quilting cotton as the base and 4 layers of flannel but I've been working on that for a lifetime and may never finish it! I tried "chenille-ing" chevrons and that did not work out at all. Besides the fact that it was a ROYAL PAIN, when I washed the swatch, it just looked like a squiggly mess. So I went back to using straight lines. I typically do 1/4" seams and then use the long guard to cut the fabric. You do need to be careful and go slowly because it's easy to get just a little out of line and even cut a seam. Overall, it's a cool tool that gives an awesome effect but you do have to be careful with it and there is a learning curve. Don't rush and you'll be ok.

Impressed!
I decided on this cutter over the Olfa which was priced higher no matter where I searched. It worked flawlessly. The package is easy to open and the cutter can be stored in original packaging for protection and safety. Also the shipping here was fantastic!

Great for faux-Chenille Quilts!
I loved this cutter for making faux chenille blankets. I have previously used an Olda chenille cutter. It worked great, but was hard to hold and my hands hurt by the time I did all the cutting. The Clover cutter with the handle made the cutting SO easy. I wish the blade was larger—just feel like there would be more blade area and it would not wear down as quickly. I think it would be fine for cutting two quilts and then might need a blade change. I just ordered extra blades, and will choose the Clover cutter over my Olfa in the future. The handle on this one won me over easily.

Make your channels as wide as the widest part of the cutter
It is a handy little tool but I had made my channels before I actually received the tool. So some (most) of my channels were too small for the cutter to go through. If you notice on the photo...it starts out slender but gets thicker, and that entire body has to go through the channels. All in all I'm delighted with the cutter. Just wish it was clearly stated that the channels need to be x wide, to accommodate the thickness at the end. And since that pulls on stitches when it goes through be sure to use a smaller stitch size.

Try a test piece with different layers
Tried with 5layers of cotton fabric. It struggled a bit, hard to push through. BUT could be down to me trying too many layers and my arthritis. Finished the project with just a few snips of scissors. Good instructions enclosed between the outside card packaging. On the whole a good product and good value for money.
