It doesn't fit in my cabinet, but...

The package came from a non-Amazon source and was sold via Amazon. It was an amazing deal so with some trepidation I ordered. I was surpsied and delighted with they showed up will packed and unbroken. I have been back several times to see if that seller has more they want to unload but so far no luck. I chose this brand (Lenox) because I found them via a website that only posts American made products. The Lenox website even says "American by Design". I picked out my pattern and ordered it and when it got to my house was very, very dissapointed to see they are actually only "American by Designed". They are made in China. I don't want to send them back at this point, so aside from completing a 4 person place setting, I will not be ordering any more of the matching items from this company. Scrolling leaf-work is so common these days that I can easily buy actual American crafted items from other vendors to create a full and beautiful casual dining table setting. I lived, got burned, and learned on this one. They do fine in a dishwasher. I was so worried that they might break if they touched each other during washing that I was super careful at first to space them way away from other dishes. I don't do that anymore. They are fine. No chips or scratches and I have eaten off them several times. The cup also does not appear to easily stain with tea or coffee tannins. Any ring they get rubs right off with fingertips during hand washing. As for the headline: I did not think about this when I first ordered them, but the dinner plate is actually too large to lay down in my cabinet and for the door to fully close without hitting the rim. While I could have found some other place to store this plate I just decided to put up two strips of foam mounting squares where the plate touches the back of the cabinet and where the door touches the plate. These, coupled with carefully closing the door, have worked to protect the plate from damage while still letting it live with the rest of my dishes. The cabinet door does not fully *click* close and can open on its own if you close the adjacent door too fast, but this is so normal now it's nothing to just tap it back shut. Overall I am pleased with this set. It's beautiful and sturdy. I will buy enough of these place settings to feed four during casual dining, but for the rest of the serving pieces and stemware, I will find an American company to support. I believe in supporting American industry and labor so long as that industry is producing items that are wanted, needed, cost-effective, and durable.

I have had these canisters for 10 months. As you can see from photo, I have 2 sets. They are beautifully elegant and I get a lot of compliments on them. For the largest one off to the side, I used it to hold my wooden spoons and whisks. I will address some of the complaints from others. First of all, yes, they will not hold a 5 lb. bag of flour or a 4 lb. bag of sugar, so if you want it for that purpose, don't buy them and then give them a bad review. I knew that after reading all the reviews before I bought them. I don't bake much so I keep my flour in the freezer. What I do use them for is a 2 lb. bag of organic sugar fits perfectly in the smallest one and my herbal tea is in the second smallest one. The medium size one has popcorn in it and the other one has currants. The large one holds oatmeal. I wanted it for things I use more often so it worked perfectly for me. Someone mentioned that the sugar was rock hard. There would be two reasons for that. Either when they were washed for the first time, they did not let the canister dry for a good 24 hours with the lid and ring off. Everything has to be completely dry. If there is any moisture at all, they will make the sugar rock hard. The other way it gets that way is someone may have put a damp spoon into the canister. I know this from 40+ years of having ceramic canisters (I've learned over the years). The opening on the largest canister is small but I just found a smaller measuring cup to fit in it. The glaze and paint on my two sets were perfect, no problem there. The reason I give it 4 stars is some of the rings are not as tight as they should be as others mentioned. I have two that should be tighter. I did soak them (the rings) in hot water and it seemed to help somewhat (there again, let them airdrop for 24 hours). If you love the look of this set, then figure out a way to make it work for you knowing these things in advance or otherwise, look elsewhere.

Elegant canisters

These canisters were beautiful but I found some larger for the big area of my counter I wanted to fill. I also was worried the handles were a bit delicate for a lot of use.

These are beautiful everyday dishes

We got several more sets to add to the collection we got at our wedding time 16 years ago. They must make these in a different factory and possibly even in a different country. The dishes feel thicker or at least heavier than our originals. This goes for all of them, the coffee mugs, plates, etc. The molds aren't as defined as they used to be or the glaze is thicker as some of the fine detailing on the sides is mushed out. Standalone, they are beautiful and you wouldn't think anything of it but even after a couple months I can instantly tell if I have an older version or the new one in my hand. I hope they are as durable as the older set.

Large serving bowl - ounces posted are wrong

This large serving bowl is absolutely gorgeous! I do have one main question..... Is the large serving bowl 96 oz or 43oz? I just got mine in and it says 43 oz on the sticker on the bottom HOWEVER the dimensions are the same as posted. To add to the confusion, it’s advertised as 96 oz across multiple sites so it’s not just an amazon typo. It appears to be a manufacturer typo. Either that or the sticker on the bottom is wrong which is also manufacturer error. I’m so confused but the bowl is absolutely stunning and I am looking forward to having this for years to come!

What a beauty!

I just received my soup tureen and I can't express my joy! What a beautiful piece! The ladle is a bonus because most tureens come with no ladle and the ones that do are not so exquisite. It's Summer so I may not use it until Fall but I got it at a bargain price (which BTW is actually a steal!). It should be enough for a family of 6 adults or 4 adults and 4 kids. So glad I have this tureen now.
