Unique and works whale! (See what I did there? ???????? )
I love the quirkiness, sarcasm and sassiness of Fred products. I own a couple of their products already and have given some as gifts. This “Twist & Spout” whale corkscrew is one of my favorites. It’s unique, well made, and works well. I like the size of it too; it fits well in a kitchen drawer and in the zippered pocket of my wine tote. It has a foil cutter, bottle opener, lever, and a teflon-coated corkscrew. My only issue is the price; I would expect to pay less than the current advertised retail price. But overall, a great product to use yourself or gift to a friend!

Overall, this corkscrew does get the job done and looks super cute in the process. That being said, I wouldn't want this as my only corkscrew in my kitchen. Here are all my thoughts: Pros: - Very cute. The colors are exactly like the pictures. It looks and feels like decent quality in person. - The blade feature is convenient for cutting through the foil/seal on the wine bottle. - Functional - it gets the job done! Cons: - The double layer lever was kind of clunky to use. It has a hinge in the middle - it only moves very slightly at that point - but this made it feel less stable as I was using the lever to pull the cork up than other corkscrews. I had to readjust where the lever was making contact with the lip of the bottle a few different times before I was able to ease the cork all the way out. But, like I said, it did work. As you can see, the cork came out in one piece, just with a little more coaxing than I would prefer. Overall, if you are going for a cute gift, I'd say go for it. The design is really adorable. But if your highest priority is functionality and ease of use, go for something else.

Cute, And Useful, Conversation Piece
Cute little corkscrew that gets the job done. Perfect for a stocking stuffer or gift grab bag. Nice housewarming or holiday gift alongside a bottle of wine. Ideal little conversation piece for a boat or beach house.

Great conversation piece.
This is remarkably much sturdier than I imagined it would be. Very well made and truly does not feel like it will fall apart anytime soon. Love the whale look that adds to a seaside themed get together! Very much a great gifting idea!

Okay Corkscrew
This is a so-so waiter’s corkscrew wrapped in a cutesy package. The Teflon-coated screw is on the short side compared to the screw on another waiter’s corkscrew that I own. The foil-cutter knife is serrated which caused me to have to saw at the foil rather than slice it as I would with a typical blade. The corkscrew worked as expected in removing the plastic “cork” in an inexpensive bottle of wine. I have my doubts that the relatively short screw would be up to the task of removing the long genuine corks typically used in premium wine bottles, though: when the screw is driven in deeply enough, the lever would be too low to catch on the rim of the bottle. The hard plastic whale-shaped housing is cute, but adds nothing but bulk to the device. There are other corkscrews with less gimmicky designs that offer better functionality.

This little whale can open a bottle of wine with great purpose and ease
I like the design of this wine opener but I had hoped the corkscrew would have been more sturdy. My experience is that lightweight corkscrews often are bent if the cork is too dry. Nice looking device and opens the wine bottle with style. I do not expect it to last for many years but it is cute.

Perfect fit for my other ocean themed bar items. Not the most efficient corkscrew but it does work and is cute sitting on the bar.

It’s Cute
This little whale corkscrew is very cute but I don’t think it worked well. The foil cutter is serrated so it feels like you have to saw the foil. The corkscrew was fine but the part that had the bottle opener on it was a little flimsy and hard to catch on the lip of the bottle in order to pull the cork out. I’ll keep it on hand because you can never have enough ways to open a bottle of wine on hand. But it’s not my first choice.
