Nice quality neoprene hood.
This is nice quality neoprene hood. Fits nice and is well made. I am a adult male with an average size head and the large fits well.

Great for surfing when you need UV protection & some warmth
I have a surfing Dakine bucket hat, and an Oneill OZone rash guard with a hood to protect my head from the sun while I'm surfing. I have fair skin, and skin cancer has been an issue for me. One of the big problems with the visor on the hat and hood is it pushes down over your eyes when paddling out through the waves especially in the impact zone. This impacts your visibility, and requires that you pull the hood or hat back to open up your view. That's fine, but when your paddling through heavy surf, you don't want to lose even a second adjusting a hat. I just finished 3 days of surfing with this Oneill Thinskins hood in mild water temp conditions (75-77 degrees F) with 3-4 foot waves, and it worked very well. Complete UV protection of my scalp, ears and part of your neck from the sun. It also provides some warmth, and some mild protection of your ears when impacting the water under various conditions including wipeouts. So far it's been the most comfortable UV protection for my head. I'm a little concerned that it might be too warm for my head when our water and air temp hits the 80 degree F mark. It's a thin neoprene material, which holds some heat. I know wearing something on your head doesn't look great, but if you even think for a 2nd you might be at risk for skin cancer, then take steps to protect yourself, while pursuing your passion for riding waves.

Stretched out after a dozen dives
I use this hood at least 5x per week for scuba and free diving. I purchased a small as per the sizing guidelines on O’Neill’s website. Needed something to keep my very thick 3c hair out of my face and mask. It worked great at first for fit, but after a dozen dives it did stretch out a bit and now pulls away from my forehead if I make any mask adjustments underwater which is annoying. And if i don’t get it on perfectly now, hair gets caught in my mask. I rate it a 5 on warmth and comfort, but a 3 overall due to the stretching. I expected better given the brand name. May exchange for a smaller size and see if that helps, though I’d worry it would be too tight around my neck those first dozen dives. Good buy for infrequent diver, but maybe not for the seasoned ones. I don’t know if water temps account for anything with stretch, I am diving in warm water (Hawaii). I thoroughly rinse all of my gear in cool water after each use and then hang dry in the shade.

Perfect for the current water temps!
I swim in the Pacific Ocean 3 mornings a week. The water temperature has really dropped of late and this little O'Neill cap has been terrific. I wear a bright color regular swim cap over the top (for safety) and having the thinskin underneath is so good - it truly makes a difference to your body temperature!

Comfortable and versatile
This is a great little wetsuit hood. As someone that gets cold easily this helps keep the chill off - I wear is alone or under a surf hat as well as under the thicker hood on my hooded 5/4. Highly recommend

Really happy with the fit and performance
Have been using for late season waterskiing. Really happy with the fit and performance. I would love to see O'Neil do this with a full neck cowl
