Fits well
Fits well. Good and comfortable material

No COVID protection for physical activity
Don't wast your money if you are looking for COVID protection. The filter insert is OK but the outer fabric and inner filter pocket are so porous you will only have a single layer of protection, not the three that are recommended. Moreover, the fancy brand name might be impressive if you are wearing it to the movies but it will not work for active sports. The filter insert is so small it barely covers mouth and nose to begin with and it won't stay in place during any kind of physical activity.

Good concept, horrible execution.
Buff makes good gaiters, known for it. This is a poor attempt to capture the "covid" crowd. The filter states 99.9 effective against bacteria, not viruses so nice marketing ploy. Second the filter once inserted does not adhere against the face. Third the filter with even mild use just crumples in its holding cavity at which point the concept becomes useless. Dont waste your money on this, if you want N95 or something similar get one, dont expect this to replace a mask or do any better than a simple gaiter.

Horrible design
This is a good product idea with horrible execution. The replaceable filter is paper thin and won’t stay in place. The opening of the filter pocket is at the top of the neck tube which means if you’re pulling the tube up and down, which you’re constantly doing for activities such as skiing, you’re grabbing onto the tube right at the opening of the filter pocket. Since the filter is so thin and there’s nothing holding it in place in the pocket it will wrinkle, bunch, fold and even pull out of the opening. The filter pocket should have an opening from the side and be small enough that it can’t easily fall out. The filter itself should also have more rigidity so that it doesn’t easily lose its shape. The standard PM2.5 filters might even be firm enough to hold up better than the Buff filters. Almost more disappointing than the filters is that the neck tube material itself lost its elasticity after only a few hours of use. It’s now loose enough that it doesn’t maintain a close fit around my face/nose. It was sized correctly when I first received it. I’ve had regular Buff tubes plus cheap knockoffs for years and they don’t stretch out like this. If they’d just used the regular material it would probably be better than this fitted design. I was really expecting more especially for $50 when you calculate the neck tube plus a pack of the replacement filters. The filters are unopened and useless because I’ll probably never wear it enough to get beyond the few filters included with the neck tube.

2-layer mask (w/o filter): protects and fits better than regular Buff
Right up front: if you are buying this mask w/ intention of performing high-intensity activity with the filters in place, you need a reality check: you cannot run, ski, bike, etc. in any mask that incorporates high-efficiency filter media. For those who wish to use this mask for low-intensity everyday activity like shopping, the 1-star review posted previously may be relevant. My family uses regular, 3-layer fabric masks for regular low-intensity public activities and we will likely never use the filter media that came with our neck tubes. For outdoor athletes looking for a mask that can be worn to comply e.g. w/ a ski resort's mask requirements, while also offering more respiratory protection than a thin, single-layer polyester necktube like the standard Buff, this is Filter Tube mask is a worthwhile investment. Pros: 1) design features a second fabric mesh layer laminated just over the mouth & nose areas, you have extra breathing protection where you need it, and nowhere you don't. 2) this model features a crucial ergonomic improvement over the standard neck tube: it is cut asymetrically: there is a seam designed to hold the filter over the bridge of your nose, and the filter side of the mask is cut higher than the rear. These two design improvements do a *much* better job than the standard Buff at keeping the mask in place over your nose. 3) The single layer fabric used everywhere but over the mouth is considerably cooler / more breathable than most balaclavas (including my favorite cold-weather design by Blackstrap). This makes them far better suited to higher output activities like hiking, running, skiing, etc. when temperatures are at or above freezing. Cons: 1) like all other neck tubes, different head shapes may require different users to position the filter tube differently to have it stay in place. My wife and younger daughter can wear their Buffs beneath their hairlines in the rear and still have it stay put over their noses. My elder daughter and I both need to pull the back of our Buffs up to almost the crown of our heads in the back, then pull on a beanie or helmet to keep it in place in order to have the front portion stay in place over our noses.
