I got exactly what I expected

Standard non-locking D-Ring (Carabiner). It is light weight, and can work as an actual carabiner. I would say though you can only do so in emergency situations, which is honestly why I purchased this item. Everyday use as a carabiner should probably be limited to youth. I use it to hold my key-rings in the non-emergency situations. It is bigger the most cheaper D-Rings, so be aware if you use it for a key-ring. I personally though carry several key-rings and keys, so it is the right size for me. I can't state this enough, read the reviews and the details of the item before you purchase. I grow tried of seeing reviews that state this product is not what they expected, when it often clearly states and often shows exactly what you are purchasing. I read the description, details, and reviews before I buy, so I get exactly what I expect or that item gets a bad review because the item is not as described. Neither is the case here. Let me state this is not your standard D-Ring to be used as a key-ring. This is an actual carabiner designed to be used as a carabiner, rated basically for youth climbers (strength tested to 23kN). Because of this fact it is bigger then the standard D-Rings designed to be used as key-rings. Keep this in mind if that is your reason for purchase. The reason for the 4 Star rating is for the spring on this item. It is well built, yet the spring seems weak. Edit: 19 September 2017... After 18 Months of use I have upped the rating to 5 Stars. The spring still seems weak, but it works great. With daily use it is still going strong with no issues in all that time. Your standard carabiner does not get daily use, so I felt that I should up the rating based upon its durability. I have faith it will work another 18 months and beyond. Edit: 11 October 2022... What can I say. Six years later it still deserves the 5th star. It is still used daily and still going strong. I no longer even think about the spring possibly being weak anymore. It obviously isn't.

Good for keys and great for hammocks.

I keep my keys on my jeans belt loop via a carabiner, and go figure, the cheap ones only last me so long before they don't close correctly and I start losing my keys in my desk chair or a sly employee tries to pull a fast one and hassle me for a quick joke. Done with that, am I right? After some searching around, settled on this one. I carry about 12 keys on me, so the carabiner needed to be sturdy. Took a gamble on this and was pleasantly surprised. it's thicker than a usual large carabiner, but not too thick. Lightweight, yet has a certain heftiness to it. Works great for my 12 keys, and the gate closes well with good amount of closing strength. I won't be accidentally losing my keys with this. Ever. I liked it so much, I bought a bunch for some of my employee's hammocks as a fun little summer bonus. Also bought some for my girlfriend's hammock to swap out the heavy duty steel ones with the sharp gate clips. They work great, and I would buy this one again and again. Excellent price too!

Nice product

Not as shiny as the picture, more of a matte finish. A little thicker and bigger than a normal carabiner keychain. Quality is really nice, it does look like it could be used for climbing but I just wanted to have a nice keychain. My old dollar one's color has completely rubbed off so I wanted a nicer one. My old one is still going strong. Originally used the Nite-Ize S-biners but my keys fell off a few times and the carabiner itself fell off my belt loop too. So I tossed it and just put my keys in a bag. Then went to an arcade and won a few tickets so I got a carabineer keychain. Those cheap dollar ones and to my surprise, held my keys and never fell off my belt loop. So now I like using carabiners as keychains. It's a good price for a well made and neat looking product. I like the idea that if an emergency occurred, it could be used in a pinch. Not a survival expert so don't know what for.

Too small for climbing use.

Bought this to fill in my order limit for free shipping and I didn’t read the full size description. Not Amazon’s or suppliers fault but mine. Just to fill you in, it’s too small to use as climbing biners. Oh well, live and learn. I will keep this and use it for my hammock or for my keys. 23kn is overkill for this use but better safe then sorry. Tell you what my hammock will tear before this thing breaks. See pictures: For climbing you'll need at least 4" biner like my red Charlet Moser. The orange one is the Fusion 3" Pros Well made, clean and smooth, gates are tight, nice design compared to my old biners, Made In USA, and good price. Cons Too small for climbing use and overkill for hanging small stuff.

Great carabiners

I use these to keep my climbing shoes clipped to the outside of my bag. They are load rated, so it's quite overkill but they never break.

Overkill for a hammock, but very nice!

Purchased two of these carabineers to use for hanging a hammock. I didn't like the ones that came with the original hammock. These are probably massive overkill for hanging a hammock, but work very well for this purpose. The packaging comes with some disclaimers and indicates they "are designed and tested specifically for mountaineering, climbing and technical rope work under normal climatic conditions". They have some guidelines printed on the outside of the package regarding use. Since I do not use for this purpose, I cannot say, but I do know they will hold at least 300 pounds in a double hammock. Hope that helps any interested buyers. I can say they seem VERY WELL BUILT and able to hold substantially more weight, although I have not tested them to know for sure.

Overall, it works as advertised but there are better options for the money.

Strong, effective and well built while being smaller than most climb rated carabiners. The nose doesn't have the newer style keyed design, so rope and belt loops might catch a bit when removing them. Also, not the lightest carabiner available for the money. This isn't a bad option, but for the money, you can buy better brand name carabiners. Overall, it works as advertised, but it uses a slightly dated design.

me funciona bien pero...

la verdad es que no lo compre para practicar ninguna actividad de montaña ni nada por el estilo, uso este tipo de arnés para asegurar y transportar equipo de video, y a pesar de que el material es muy bueno y resistente, el tamaño es mucho mayor a lo que esperaba, por lo cual lo uso poco.

Great quality for my needs

I use these in the gym for attachments and the cable machines. I got sick of always having to find them laying around the gym. They are very light, high quality and plastic parts on them. I only removed one star because they are slippery.

Heavy Duty!

This is the best carabiner I have ever owned. The spring mechanism feels much better and more durable than any other I've had. Very nicely deburred and very soft finish, no sharp edges.

Used for keys

Being used as a key ring and has stood up to everyday abuse with no issues for well over a year now! The gate is still strong and the finish is holding up well.
