Not all installations can be done in 15 minutes
Had to remove the flywheel-to be able to remove the shrould-to be able to remove the front starter mounting bolt. Not a big deal since I had a f/w puller and an impact. Would've been a different story without the proper tools. My old starter was a tad bigger than the replacement and lasted 32 years. New starter engages quietly and smoothly. Satisfied with product now, time will tell.

Very easy to replace the defective starter and works wonderfully
The design of these starter motoer leaves something to be desired with plastic parts where metal should be. My old starter had a flat spot and wouldnt turn over my B&S Intek 24 engine 50% of the time and it was getting worse. I read the reviews and decided not to go down the route of an aftermarket starter as there were a lot of reports of starting problems right out of the box and I wanted something reliable. This was an easy replacement - cowlings had to be removed and a couple of bolts (a litte ackward but the engine did not need complete disassembly) and about 30 minutes did the job. The mower starts every time now really easily. An unrelated oil leak has developed (Murphy's Law) which drips oil onto the hot muffler so it looks like I'm mowing in a blue fog. Still it keeps the bugs away and Im hoping it will hold up to the fall when I can pull the engine and repair the leak in slow time. The starter is great and I recommend putting the original B&S replacement part on if you are having any second thoughts about an aftermarket starter.

exactly what my LT2000 22hp twin needed!
The old starter was not cranking it over very well even with a battery booster (first sign its not the battery). replaced with an open box one, installed, tested, and amazed at how much easier it starts now. this is for my model917.272281 with motor 446777 0165 E1. The right side bolt is always a PITA to get out, using a T40 wrench works. Comes with the composite gear installed, which is what I needed, and the metal gear is included as well. Unsure how to change them out since I didn't not need to.

Fit great
Worked on out craftsman GT 5000 lawn tractor started her right up after several cheap ones that didn’t have the crank power this one worked on our 26hp

Starter worked without issues. It was supposed to have a composite gear for composite flywheel applications (which was on starter motor), and a steel gear was to be included for steel flywheel applications ( which is the style I had). The box was previously opened and the steel gear was not included in the box. Hopefully the starter gear will last but time will tell.
