It fixed my problem
Once installed, it fixed the problem with my old chipper/shredder. BUT, I had a real job installing it. I had previously tried installing an overhaul kit, but that didn't resolve the issue. (Maybe I didn't clean the old carburetor well enough.) When I went to install the carburetor, I too had to tap a hole but the instructions said NOT to remove one of the screws that made reassembly less of a problem. After looking at the effort to remove the tank, and re-examining to old carburetor, spending more time studying the unit, I decided to just remove the screw and see what happened. After all, it was not an issue when I tried the overhaul kit several of the YouTube videos that I watched showed the person removing the screw. It worked fine after everything was reassembled. If I have an issue because I removed the screw, I'll accept that the problem is on me and I'll deal with it then.

Mi podadora de cesped resucitó
1994 Briggs & stratton 3.5hp. Algunas modificaciones, como abrir rosca para el tornillo que soporta el filtro de aire, lo demas es intercambiar piezas. Nada dificil. Exelente calidad, mi podadora regresó ala vida.

works perfect
I put this on a 1989 34year old Duerr 20 ton log splitter and it runs like a champ now. The new one was 97 dollars, I bought the one they had used like new for 38 dollars. Most people wouldn't buy this the fact is if someone used this Amazon wouldn't take it back if it had gas in it so I new who ever bought this never used it and it must have been the wrong one for their briggs. It also was free return so no problem. The only thing is the one hole wasn't tapped like a lot of customers said but the metal is soft so I just used the old screw and it tapped it self supper simple. Also the needle screw has no adjustment if you loosen the screw to adjust it will just rattle off the motor it runs perfect like screwed in all the way, if it starts to run bad I will use the one with a spring off the old carb. Don't be afraid to buy their products that are used ' like new because there is always free returns, most of the time it's just a ripped box. I bought a office chair the same thing the boxed was just damaged. Amazon s Excellent Deals!!!

Excellent replacement
Excellent replacement for an old 495426 on my chipper. A couple of issues. It wasn't an exact replacement. So, I had to swap the linkage. No big deal except the instructions had a confusing warning. It warns "not to remove the bell crank" or it will void the warranty and cause carburetor damage. It didn't come with the bell crank linkage. Check the picture. There is no linkage. So, I put on the bell crank from my old one and it works just fine. Another issue was that one of the holes for a linkage screw is unthreaded. The linkage screw appears to be self-tapping but wouldn't go. I needed to use a regular tap to put threads it--easy to do and minor but kind of an irritation. I also elected to use the sprung needle valve from my old carb instead of the loose needle that came with it. Finally, I swapped out the plastic link to the choke plate because this one is indented to provide set speeds and my old levers wouldn't move into the indents smoothly. That was all of 3 seconds to slip out the plate and put in the old link. Overall it works perfectly and the engine starts up without a problem and runs superbly.

Runs Great But...
Just installed the new carb on my 5HP MTD blower today. Put gas in it, pulled the rope a couple of times and it runs great. I would have rated it 5 stars but just like some of the other reviewers commented, some of the holes in the carb didn't have threads cut in them. One of them was easy enough because it appeared to be a self tapping screw, at least it cut the threads. The screw for the other hole would not cut the threads so I had to tap it with a 6-32 tap. Not a big deal for me because I have what was needed to do the task. There may be some DIYers out there who might not. Need to let you know up front what tools are needed.

Need a 10-32 tap
I would have given this 5 stars, except for the lack of attention to detail in the finish. There is an untapped hole, which I expected, BUT IT NEEDS A 10-32 TAP, NOT 6-32. There is no way that a 6-32 tap would even work. I used a standard tap, but I would have used a bottom tap too if I had one. The screw on the throttle control arm was so badly disfigured I also chased the hole out with a 10-32 tap and then reset the screw with loctite thread locking compound. Briggs and Stratton really dropped the ball on this one. But it worked, and my 15 year old chipper is new again. I read these reviews and ordered a #6 tap set to replace the ones I broke. I'll keep them for some future project. In summary: 1. Make sure you have a 10-32 tap. 2. Thread locking is advised.

Works as described
Works as described. My woodchipper is still munching leaves and branches after about 2 years. Remember to spray starting fluid if you want to store for the winter The gas nowadays has a small % of WATER that damages the carb

Exact fit
Bolted it on and the motor ran great. Only trouble was the one hole was not tapped for the bracket that holds/guides the throttle. A 10/32 tap took care of that. A minor thing but still a little inconvenient.
