These Bits meet my needs perfectly.

For me this has been a very good and useful set of Spade Bits. I use these around the house and barns and in crafting my bird houses and canes. So far I have had not one problem. Now it should be noted that I have used them only on soft woods and not hard. I note that some reviewers have had a problem with hard woods...I cannot speak to that problem. I also not that there may (or may not) have been some problems with the extension on this set. I have used mine several times (On pine) and have had not problems what so every. The bits are sharp and cut very cleanly. They of course should be used on WOOD ONLY as that is what they are made for. I have used this brand of bit before ad as yet to have had a problem....with the bit itself I should say. I did use one on a drill with poor torque which did not work out so well. That was my fault though...I should have known better. All in all I have no complaints against these bits. The price here on Amazon is quite competative as to what I find locally. Amazing

I used the set with a Bosch HDH-181 Brute Tough Hammer Drill/Driver to run cable in a house under construction. Even the largest bits go through sandwiched studs like butter. All you do is put the self feeding tip onto the wood and without any pressure and as soon as you pull the trigger the bit bites and pulls itself through the wood in an incredibly fast pace. (As always, use an auxiliary handle for applications like this!) The hole is fairly clean, but I would say there are spade bits out there that make cleaner holes but certainly not faster ones. This is ideal for non finish holes like in studs, rafters, plywood, joists and so on. I'm amazed by the speed and ease of how those bits are working. It is still to see how long they will stay that sharp. So far they haven't let me down. The 6" extender is certainly a bonus, however, I haven't put that one to use yet. The only con I would say is they come not with a box or anything, but for the price and quality that is certainly something I can overlook.

Awesome bits!

These are extremely handy spade bits. Definitely the best set I've ever purchased. They cut through wood like it was butter. The initial screw tip makes it really easy to get started in a piece of wood and quickly get to the spade blade. They're pretty strong, I haven't had any that have dulled out yet after about 6 months of occasional use. The bit extender is a nice addition, although I've only had to use it a few times. My only problem with this set is it doesn't include a case! Absolutely no way to keep these bits safe and together. They could've made the plastic packaging one that snaps together and actually holds each bit tightly. I'm always on the lookout at harbor freight and amazon for a simple nylon pouch case or something I can use for these, as I've already lost one bit.

These spade bits are worth every dollar spent. There is something important to note however. They are quite a bit more aggressive when compared to your normal spade bits. Be sure your drill has enough power to run the larger diameter bits. Also, do not assume that just because they are awesome that if you hit a nail(s) it will be no big deal because I promise you, if you do, the bits will go from amazing to junk real quick. One final issue I had with the 1 1/4 bit was that the shaft bent for some reason. It could have been a dud though.

We have a winner, almost

**update** Have been using these for several months now, two minor gripes: 1. The threaded part in the middle is too thick, it will split the wood if old or thin. 2. Threaded part is too long and goes past where you want to end the hole. 3. Threaded part gums up and have not been able to clean the threads. Other than that my original review still valid. I have to give credit to the magazine Tool Guide, they reviewed spade bits and found these the fastest with least effort, clean holes, and they were right. I like these a lot, the drill pulls itself through the wood quickly, so watch your depth because it will go deep before you know it, to clear the chips you may need to run drill in reverse because you may not be able to pull the drill back out, that's how powerful these are!

These things go are awesome.

I would never buy another type of paddle bit. Not sure they would be ideal for finish work, but these things are violent. Very fast drilling through 2x4 studs.

Good value, work well for the money

For the money these bits are good value. I use them with an electrical hand drill, mainly in 2" hardwood and softwood, making holes, mainly for electrical cables. Providing you do not hit any nails or metal they stay sharp for a long time. The bits I have used most are those between 3/4" and 1/2" and have found that their performance has not dropped off greatly after much use (unless you hit a nail, whereapon they are not much good thereafter!). They do grap into the wood and drill very agressively so they are not intended for "fine" work. You often have to use the reverse function on the drill to remove them from the cut hole.

i have some older spade bits (plain straight edges, spike tip) as well as a new Vermont American (plain edges, semi-screw tip), and in comparison those other bits might as well be made from foam, they cut so poorly when compared to the speed and efficiency of these Daredevils. 10/10, would buy again. sucks that this set doesn't come with a pouch, but i use a cheap dollar-store pencil case for them which is just fine. at the price i got them for, NO REGRETS at all. btw, get a small wire brush to clean off the screw tip after using to avoid build-up of wood or even sap. if the tip isn't clean, the cut speed isn't as amazing as when the tip IS clean.

Getting one jammed half way through something sucks, and they get trashed fast if you hit ...

These bits just rip through anything you throw them at - but beware, you need a decently powerful drill to get through some woods. Also when they grab they have a tendency to snap your wrist if you're not expecting it. I wired a whole house with a set of these and bought another to keep in the toolkit when I was done.

Sent them back

These are completely useless. I got this set as I needed to make a few holes in a building project and couldn't find the other-branded, old set I already had. Almost immediately after I started to use one, the sharp point became a worn out nub and wouldn't do the job it had barely even started. Absolutely not worth the money and would not recommend.

Super rapide

Tu n'as pas intérêt à manquer ta shot avec ces mèches . Leurs cônes en vrille percent en un rien de temps et la mèche s'enfonce très rapidement. C'est assez spécial. Elles portent bien leur nom, Daredevil. Super produit et le prix est excellent. Je les recommande pour des travaux de structure/charpente (rought)
