Great shoe for normal feet
The leather tends to bulge at the toes so if your teacher is constantly on you for not pointing your toe. If you have big feet, try winging them a little through the pointe (I know what you've been told - but wing them a little and it will create the illusion of a proper pointe cause on big feet, a winged point is correct.) Then use the canvas version of this shoe if your teacher is always complaining about your point. The canvas version stretches to flatten that to pocket bubble so the teacher can see the toes. This canvas shoe is for normal ballet feet - narrow, long with overarching point.

LOVE! And some answers to questions you didn't know you needed to ask.
I've been a dance instructor/studio owner since 1993. I've been wearing these for years and I love them! They fit perfectly the way I want them to fit. I like my dance shoes tight out of the box because, if they are of any quality, they will stretch to fit my foot which is EXACTLY what I want. I can go a couple of classes with some discomfort until they break in, but with these it's very minimal. The upper molds to my foot like a glove after just a few classes. Every part of the shoe that touches your skin is padded in some way. The neoprene keeps them from stretching permanently to be too long. The last thing I want in a dance shoe is extra space: this is where sliding around in them can cause blistering and extra material at the toe can get in the way and trip me (believe me, I don't need help tripping!). The darts accent the arch so beautifully! Even my dancers whose point isn't as strong have pretty feet in these. So answering some questions that have been asked: What size should I buy? Do you like your dance shoes to fit snug or loose and what do you wear them for? I like a tight fit so I wear an 8.5 in athletic shoes and buy these in 8.5. I'm actually a 9 in dress shoes, heels, or boots, but these jazz shoes eventually mold to my foot so the 8.5 is perfect and allows for some eventual give to my wide feet (at the metatarsals). At that size my toes hit the end of the shoe which is what I personally want. If you like room and you (or your child) is taking maybe 2 recreational classes a week then you could probably just stick with the usual street shoe size. If you (or your child) is competing and taking several hours of classes per week, it would be best to talk to the instructor about what they prefer. How long do these last? Again, it depends on what you need them for. My senior competition team (around 10-12 competitions per year) can go through a few pair per dance season. That's normal with ANY dance shoe that takes heavy wear. However, my recreational classes can make it the entire year without having to buy a second pair unless they just outgrow them. They do have a more sturdy pad on the ball of the foot than other jazz shoes which is the place I find that most other shoes fail first. With these it's usually the big toe busting through the top but by then we've gotten more than enough wear from them. Do they have a lot of support? No, but that's not what dance shoes are for. Dancers need strong feet and too much support can keep them from developing that strength. Think of jazz shoes as a good second protective skin. They aren't street shoes and are meant for wear only on dance surfaces. So they can't be compared easily to street shoes in that way. There isn't a perfect one-size-fits-all for styles and brands of dance shoes. You just have to find the right one for your foot and the way in which you dance. But I find that these tick a lot of boxes for our students and are DEFINITELY my go-to jazz shoe!

Great for practicing dancing at home
I had to replace my old SwayD sneaker for practicing at home because that 3-year-old sneaker started expanding. I read many reviews before placing the order. Reviews are helpful. My shoe size is 6.5 to 7. Ordered size 7. So far, I like these shoes. On Day 1, the shoes were really tight as expected. I danced 30 minutes in these shoes and switched to my old dance shoes. Day 2 or 3, I heard my toes were rebelliously demanding its room, which felt amusing. I did some stretching motion of my toes inside these shoes. On that day, somehow, I was able to dance in these shoes longer like 1 hour, then switched to my old shoes. Day by day, I became comfortable in these shoes. On the 5th day, I no longer had to change shoes. I like the look of these shoes. I put some bling on them. It is obvious to me that the sole of the toe box will need resoling within a month. No problem. I'm used to doing such maintenance. These shoes are good for clean smooth floor. Some dance floors are not cleaned or depending the floor, these shoes will wear and tear quickly. I bought these shoes only for home practice. Although these shoes were really tight first, somehow I was able to put in an insole. I needed cushion on the toe box. Unlike stated by other reviews, the heel does not bother me. Besides, the heel height of these shoes is close to zero. Because it is clear that the maintenance on the sole of the tow box is coming soon, my review is 4 instead of 5. Durability issue. Other than that, I like these shoes.

Versatile and fit as indicated (order slightly larger)
I like that these work for me for ballet, jazz, and multiple forms of dance and that they're not pink since I'm no longer training for the stage. It's not so much that there's arch support, but that part of the bottom of the shoe is a little thick and snug. Stays on well without garters.

Quality Has Declined (as of late 2022)
Let’s start with the positives: This shoe fits like a glove and is the perfect studio practice shoe for a variety of dances. I’ve used it for Latin and really appreciate the split sole and suede pad—it has the perfect amount of friction for smooth turns on wood floors and saves your knees. I recommend wearing thin socks with these or they will quickly start to smell (they cannot be cleaned easily because they are mostly leather). Although I love the shoe, the quality has declined while the price has gone up significantly (like everything else). My first pair lasted a year whereas the most recent one—which I received exactly 3 months ago to the day—is already showing signs of premature wear in the toe box at the outer seam and looks like it will only last 4 months total. As you can see in the photos, the suede patch still has plenty of life and the rest of the shoe is in fantastic condition—it’s just the outer seam and it’s already developed a hole. This is exactly where my previous ones wore through and I admittedly have wide feet, but at $55 a pair, I expect these to last a little longer given that they’ve been used about 2 hrs a week (i.e. 24 hrs total at this point). For reference I am consistently a European size 36.5 (I go down to a 36 if the toe box is generous or the shoe is leather and up to a 37 otherwise) and have always purchased a 6.5 M in these. I may buy directly from Bloch or a dance supply store instead of Amazon to give the wide version a try in case that solves the problem. As of right now I only recommend this shoe if you have fairly narrow feet.

Check the sizing guide and order according to the European sizing!
I used the US sizing for my first order and they were a whole size too small. Once I reordered based on the European sizing I got the right fit. I love them.
