Third time I've purchased
This is my third purchase of this model handheld vacuum. It lives in the garage and helps keep the cars clean. I've also it on stairs, potting table cleanups, and lots of other quick cleaning jobs. Empties easily and stays charged on the garage charging station. After 3 years or so, the battery begins to go .

Works Just Great
I bought this and have used it now for 2 months. Upon opening, I followed the instructions to the letter--thus when it arrived I charged it completely for about 24 hours. I then used it for about a total of 20-25 minutes until it wouldn't work and charged it again overnight. This is to set up the battery correctly and is a common battery operated charging regimen. Follow it and you likely eliminate future problems and the experience of saying it loses charge quick. The suction is strong. I'm not sure what people are expecting but it's a hand held vacuum. I've used them since the original dust buster, dirt devil etc. etc. This one will pick up sawdust, hair, dust, spilled flour, rice, sand. It did an ok job in the car. There is a tool for nooks and crannies. That thing extends out of the main nozzle. It helped for harder to reach spaces. There is a flip down brush type thing that worked ok on book shelves and furniture. Proper dusting is done with a rag and pledge or somesort of concoction anyway. It does not have a charging light. Just sort of figure that when you charge it, you probably have left it for a few hours before using it again. If you're using it as a light duty hand held--you picked up a spill, found something to clean for a few minutes, then likely it'll charge back to full quickly. If you used it for 10-15 minutes, figure a few hours on the charger will bring it back up to par for the next use. I don't need a charging light for that but I suppose it would have been nice. Worst case scenario is it ran out of battery--well then I just charge it without use overnight. Voila. It has a wall hanging unit. The charger is not built into the wall hanging unit. I just mounted the hanging unit close enough that with the plug in the outlet, it reaches---common sense. It comes apart easily--used the manual to understand how to empty it routinely. Used the manual how to understand how to take it a step further, pop out the filter and give the filter a good clean or even a rinse under water (let it dry fully if you do that--common sense). The waste container is clear. I can see when it's nearing full and empty it at that point as it works best (as does ANY vacuum) when it's not full. I did have the experience of hanging it up once or twice 1/2 full and a few pieces of sand or something fell straight down from the wall hanger. Now i just hold the unit over a bin for a minute tap with my hand to insure that doesn't happen but generally when I empty the unit (which is just about every time) I make sure the intake care doesn't have any strays. Some folks talk about the unit (and other units) being noisy. Some customers ask about noise. Come on. It's a hand held vacuum--it's in the category of blenders, leaf blowers and vacuums. It makes noise and again that's common sense. They don't call it the Dust Buster Whisper. That said it's not at leaf blower level or blender level or plug in vacuum level. I just wouldn't use it when your baby is napping or a loved one is on a conference call. I'd say for the money this is a solid household use dust buster and it's improved in over 25 years. I'll check back in a year if it somehow dies after a year but for now it's working fine and as designed and I picked it because of the power specs. I disregarded some reviews on a hunch that they hadn't charged it up properly . I do not expect this to go more than 15-20 minutes or so. If I have that much hand held vacuuming to do, it maybe that I need to use the regular vacuum. That all said, i can pretty much do a 30 X 30 room for spot stuff, the kitchen nooks and crannies, the bathroom, the window sills in a single charge--for spot cleaning, tidy up.

EXTREMELY Loud!
I have owned a few hand vacs in my day, and this is the LOUDEST vacuum I have ever purchased. I did buy this as a gift for my older brother (in his 70's) so I really can't be sure how well it is working for him or if he is bothered by the loudness, but I did turn it on and the suction seemed good. I have several other full size vacuums and none of them is as loud as this one. I mean, it is seriously LOUD. If you don't care about the decibel level, give it a try. Not sure I would have purchased it if I had heard it first. I also paid $44.99 for mine and the price seems to fluctuate a bit.

Good. But not as good as prior models
Looking to replace my old B&D dustbuster, I did ridiculous exhaustive research on the newer models. My requirements were simple. It had to hang vertically where the old one hung and be as or more powerful than previous. (See photo) So that meant I couldn't select the model that stored horizontally but had the advantage of charging in a cradle. I was saddled with plugging in to recharge. And about that plug. The old plug simply plugged in to the vacuum without regard to orientation. The new plug requires orienting the plug to the vacuum. (See photo) No biggie. Just a backward step in user friendliness. And no dummy lights. The old model provided illuminated confirmation the unit was charging. The new model leaves you guessing and hoping. Again, minor. But just sayin'. And last, the old unit provided a shroud (see photo) as a kind of pre-filter before the real filter did its job. No shroud with the new unit - although the filter frame is the same and accommodates the old shroud. So I just transferred it over to the new unit. Since the unit is new, I have no idea if it will be as durable as the prior unit. And just a note about durability, the entire reason for replacing the unit was simply that the LI-Ion batteries cannot be replaced, a design feature that is environmentally irresponsible. I like the product, that's why I bought it again. But, yeah, this is a small leap backward.

Charging System Unclear
We had an older version of this that charged from a charging pad. We loved it and it lasted 10 years. My mistake for not buying the more expensive version which has the same system, but also, the website description does not show the charging cable or where it plugs in. I assumed it charged from the dock like the old one, but it does not, it plugs in to the handle. I wouldn't really complain or give a bad rating except I feel that the provided photos are misleading. Guess I should have looked at the user reviews more closely. Just be aware of the different versions.

Great machine
We bought this to replace the other B&D we have, the MAJOR complaint I have is the charge cord, it plugs into the base unlike our older B&D model which set on a charge pad. I have come close to ripping the charge cord out of the unit or out of the wall plug. The machine as a whole is great for everything, except the charging design, very poor design, this is why I gave 3 stars instead of 5 stars. Do away with this model and stay with the charging pad. Was able to dismantle the old one and lube the shaft which was squealing and not letting the motor turn over.

A good buy
This is a very good handvac, but like all small vacs of this type it does not have replaceable batteries. So when it dies, you have to buy a new one.

Powerful suction!!
I already have one of these and love it! I decided to by another hand held for the basement. I didn’t like it! So I order this Dustbuster again! Best suction power!

Sturdy little vacuum
I had kind of low expectations for this vacuum considering its amazon, and its pretty low on the price scale. We kind of just expected it would "get the job done for now but would eventually be replaced" However... We have had this thing for well over a year now and this little vacuum has been holding its own as our tool for the entire house. Its suction is... okay, its good enough. Only time I could ask for more is when cleaning fur off the couch, you have to do a couple passes to get everything. But overall considering how compact this little dude is its the perfect fit for someone who wants to clean messes up without lugging a giant heavy vacuum around. We also keep it hung up on the dock and plugged in whenever not in use. Only for extremely large tasks like vacuuming the ENTIRE apartment when we were moving out did its battery actually die, but thats not a normally realistic scenario. For just general house use and cleaning as you go, more than good enough. PS: It's also a very good way to deal with spiders.

Pleasing the wife is a sign of a good tool
I was a bit sceptical at first. The hand vac did not look powerful enough. Then I charged it and gave it a try. Well I was and am surprised at the suction this has. I had to flip down the brush so it would not suck up the cloth on my computer repair desk. Also left the brush down for cleaning the fans and outside of vents it dug out the hair and heavens knows what else was coming out the holes. I used the canned of compressed air inside the computer and held the hand vac over the flying debris. It just worked like a charm The wife is using it for tracked in dust she sweeps in a pile on the floor and it cleans up with out leaving a line at the dust pan or having to bring out the vacuum hose which is 35 feet of built in vacuum hose wrestling this snake is the thing of the past for quick pickups. The small rug at the front door usually has grass or something in it and she uses the brush to get most of the stuff until it is time for the carpet brush. clean up is easy we rotate the body to unclick it for removal and dump the dirt compartment. It unclicks easier and so she decided to do the floor trim using the brush and rotated, just great and quick and is not scratching the walls like the big vacuum dragging it along. She found out the unit's snout extends. Well it is being used every day. I got it for her as a thanks wife gift as I am not into flowers. Now I think I will have to get one for ,my self I need it to do another computer clean and it is outside cleaning up the van. This unit is more handy then a pocket in your shirt.

Excellent product
Excellent little vacuum. Great at small jobs or when being too damned lazy to get the Dyson. Lasts a good while between charges. The extension is handy as well. Very reasonable in cost. Primary used next to the cats litter box but it’s so handy it often winds up in the kitchen cleaning under the stove or other places the full sized can’t reach. Decent power for its size.
