Plenty of power to get job done

Initially, I bought a cordless B&D 20V edger and was completely disappointed in the lack of power. The cordless unit also overheated after less than 5 minutes (about only 12 ft edged) and, in general, made the job much longer and more difficult. I sent it back and ordered the corded B&D version which was much cheaper (~65% the cost of the cordless version) and it included a spare blade (the cordless version did not). I plugged it in and edged about 200 ft in 5 minutes or so with almost no effort on my part except having to get out a long cord. In the end, getting out a long cord was a lot easier than trying to nurse along a weak cordless version. Save yourself time and trouble and get a corded one (or gas if you have the money to spend).

Making edging easier for a new landscaper

I tried the string trimmers for years to edge my lawn. No luck getting it straight or even against the concrete edge. I always looked awful, so I stopped doing it. Needless to say, I got overgrowth onto the concrete. With this edger, I was able to get a clean edge and looks perfect. I could even adjust the dept of the cut with little effort. I don't have a lot of time to trim so this was perfect. I even got an extra blade. The assembly was simple and the edger is light. My lawn looks great now.

Nice product but

Nice product, but does not have the dynamic brake stop on the blade and does not come with the auxiliary black handle as shown in the pictures.

Replaced an old Craftsman and is more powerful. Works well for a smaller lawn. Easier to clean as the blade area is open allowing less grass buildup.

Not fit for purpose in Ireland or the UK.

This item should not be sold to the Irish or UK market it is a USA landscaping tool. It was not supplied with the proper adapter and is the wrong voltage 120v not the required 240v, this is not advised in the item description. Very disappointed as also quite expensive compared to the USA price.

Cheaper replacement of original older version

I owned an Edge Hog for 15 years that finally gave up. I ordered the same model as I was please with the original, however when I received the new one I discovered that it had gone through some cost- cutting design changes. The main connector tube is far smaller in diameter and less strong. The handle is one piece and now non-adjustable. The guard covering the blade has been removed and now it is completely exposed. Also the little hubcaps are not installed allowing dirt into the wheel hubs. If I could have found another manufacturer that had a more robust product I would have gladly paid more for it.

Does the job!

I have about 200 feet of walk and driveway to keep trimmed. Once I saw this item I jumped to buy it. I am amputee and have hip and knee replacements on the opposite leg and being over 75 I had only minor difficulty adjusting to a new tool. Once I got the hang of it it did a great job an d now my walks and drive look like a pro team of gardeners had done the work. It also comes with as spare cutting blade. Being a corded machine one has to exercise caution regarding the cord, but you do not need to worry about a battery dying part way through the job.

Be aware of flying debris!

We use this to trim a neat line around our gravel driveway. DO NOT DO THIS when children or pets are around because pebbles go flying everywhere - you could break a window. We built a shield for it and now we don't have that problem. If you are using it to tidy a garden bed or cement/asphalt driveway, it is ideal - powerful and accurate and easy to use. Wish it came with a shield.

Check before you purchase

3 stars - because packing was ok, product seem good and sturdy, functionality not so much. I had very high hopes for this product to use in my small but curvy garden beds. saw a video that caution this was not ideal for curvy flower beds. wished I saw the video before I purchase it. It was packaged ok. The box was ripped open on one side but the item looked new and in solid condition. I tried doing a test run without using on my lawn and see there would be difficulty for my small garden curvy garden beds. I was also very disappointed that i was charged a $30.00 shipping fee. however I see no benefit in keeping a product would not meet the purpose i purchase it for so return it with some regret and disappointment.
