Works great
I use it for whitewater kayaking in the winter it fits perfect under my helmet and it is a game changer on those days when temps are down in the 30s and 20s ears and head stay very warm.

THE BEST!
When the wind is blowing in the winter it kills my ears, so I got this hoping it would help. It did! Plus kept me warmer! I took off the hat on the sand after I got out of the water and I started shivering. I love this thing! It doesn't give me a headache either which I was afraid of. I am a female with a pretty tiny head and a Medium fit great. It loosens a little in the water, but still worked.

Great for SCUBA
I wear this instead of a tuck-in hood or hooded wetsuit for scuba diving in Southern California (LA/OC/Catalina). It keeps my head warm in temperatures above 55 degrees F (13 C). If it was any colder than that, I would recommend wearing a standard diving hood. If you are buying this for something other than surfing or scuba, you should know that it muffles most sound, so it would be difficult to use in a group setting where you are talking to each other above water (however, you can fold it up so that your ears are exposed, which is what I do when I'm on the boat talking to people between dives). The sizing runs a little large. I would recommend ordering one size down from what you would normally order. I have had many people ask me where I got this hat when I am diving, and a few people have even requested asked borrow it. Overall, I think this is a really great alternative to a dive hood for scuba conditions above 55F, and I am really glad that I bought it.

Balloon head problem
I thought a beanie would be the perfect solution for warm water diving without binding around the neck, and also as a way to uncover the ears above water to facilitate hearing. There’s one big problem, however, and that is the expansion of gas around the head when a ascending from depth. This causes the beanie to balloon, threatening to pull off one’s mask. Purge holes at the crown would solve this problem.

Warm and comfortable
I tend to get headaches when wearing hats, beanies or helmets even when they are not tight. This beanie is comfortable and keeps my head warm without giving me headaches. I recommend it.

I LOVE THIS BEANIE!
This is EXACTLY what I was hoping for. It keeps my head nice and warm while diving. And it keeps the sun off my , ummmmm, thinning hair and scalp when I'm preparing for the dive and afterwards. Make sure you cut a couple of dime sized holes in the top in order to create a vent for air to escape -- air from your regulator will tend to creep up the side of your face and accumulate in the beanie. The vent holes solved that problem. AWESOME BEANIE!!!!

Great quality but that it runs large (it is sized for men)
I'm a woman with a 21 1/2 inch size head and ordered a small. It fit more loosely than I would like but OK. I would say the Small is definitely a man's small. This probably will be a bit big for use with water sports but since it is a loose fit I can use it as a running hat in winter over my earbuds. For swimming I will probably need to put a lycra swim cap on top or underneath it to make it stay on.

Meh.
The packaging advertises "stylish". Nope. It's got two seams running part way across the top at right angles to each other. One seam runs from rim to rim giving the impression you're wearing a coat hanger under the beanie. The other seam starts and ends mid-beanie, giving the impression you've got horns under the beanie. It's reasonably functional - except as others have noted there's no escape for air trapped under the beanie which encourages it to sometimes lift it off you head when you're submerged.
