No washers

It looks lovely, however; the gentleman (contractor) who installed them (I bought two) said they both came without a washer or gasket. Since there were two the same he decided for this product it was correct, but said he never saw seats that had metal against porcelain! I hope there won’t be a problem.

High Quality, SOLID Toilet Seat

Got this seat to replace an old one that had plastic hardware which had come loose, this one is secured with metal parts so I do not suspect it will break on me any time soon. Quality stuff, def recommended to anyone looking for a solid, reliable seat replacement.

Higher cost but cheaper within a few years with fewer changes!

After reading reviews on several brands and figuring out most of the plastic seats break within about a year and a half, and the wooden ones lose their finish after about a year, I found this "high-priced goodie." As always, Amazon got it to me with their fabulous PRIME two day shipping. The old K brand was cracked in two places ... cracks will eventually work as a pinch. In all fairness to Kohler, the seat was 10 years old and looked like new. With four toilets, I did not want to go through a lot of changes with the new "low quality" seats many brands are selling these days. So, thinking I needed to find another long term replacement. This one from Bemis looks great, fit as a replacement for the K brand Cachet, and has metal hinges. The plastic is thick enough so when someone sits on it, there is no significant bending. Comfort ... on a toilet seat ... well, it seems to be an important issue on many reviews, so, here goes. It seems to be about as good as any seat can be with a hole in the middle of it. No negatives from the wife on comfort, so it passes with flying colors. The quality of the plastic is great. Looks as nice as any other white seat. The instructions for cleaning state to keep away from aerosol cleaners, and scouring instruments. Warm water and soap cleans it just fine. The metal hinges, also metal bolts to hold it in place look like they will be around for more years than the house will. You will need a 9/16" wrench or deep socket to install. To install the bolts in to the hinges, I used both bolts on each stud, tightened them together, and installed them in the hinges, then move the bolts to the second one, same action. They do provide sufficient hardware to install the toilet and there is a nice little fabric/paper washer that goes between the china (on the top) and the metal hinge. This little washer keeps toilet seat from sliding around without having to tighten things down to the point you break the china. I do not expect to ever have to change that seat. As they say ... heavy duty, but from a guest looking at it, no one would ever notice much difference. A great fit and worth the money. In reality, changing toilet seats every 18 months is NOT my idea of fun. Besides, buying a cheap breakable, and changing it out every year or so, comes up at about $25 every few years. The heavy duty idea pays for itself in less than 5 years.

Sturdy and easy to clean!

I did a lot of searching and reading before making this purchase and I am glad I did. This was the right choice! Sturdy, solid, easy to clean (no weird shapes or crevices to clean around), doesn't stain, super easy to install (I had no idea what I was doing and I did it in 5 minutes), looks great. It is very no slam, as in you actually have to push the seat or lid down to make it close, which is just fine for me but might be something to be considered for a household with males... Overall, I am very happy.

Heavy duty, steel parts

This toilet seat is just what I was looking for. Heavy duty plastic, and all the bolts, washers, and posts are steel and made in such a way that I think this will be the toilet seat that stands up to the years. I get so tired of buying new toilet seats every year or so, mostly because the plastic cracks or sometimes because the nuts break or cheap, thin posts shear off. This seems to be quality (not cheap or thin) plastic, and I expect this to last a long time. I'll definitely be replacing all the toilet seats in my house with this seat. I'll amend this review should this not stand up as I think it will.

As well made as the oblong seat we purchased.

It took a little time to get here, but worth it. Very easy to install without tools. I was surprised! The only thing missing was the slow close lid. No more wooden toilet seats in our house. Bemis make a great commercial toilet seat so, you know it's going to last. Thanks for asking!

Purchased 12/2014 Still going strong

This looks good, is strong and washes well. It has outlasted any seats I have purchased in the past. I am here today to buy one for my downstairs bathroom. It's a little more expensive, but if you can afford it you will save in the long run.
