A very useful bit of kit

If you are from somewhere other than the US and you happen to have a Bosch GOF1600 series router that only came with a plunge base then this is an item of interest to you. If you've used a fixed base router then you'd understand the advantages of being able to "crank" the bit up and down in small increments. A small disadvantage with this is that it does Imperial measurements better than metric - a full turn is 3/16" or around 4.5 mm but only *close to* but not quite 4.5 mm. The other advantage that this base offers is that it is a *much* better option for mounting on a router table. It comes with an allan key that can be used (at least with the Bosch router table) to adjust the depth of cut from the top of the table. As I was doing further research I learned that the control voltage passing through the connection between the base and the motor is "low voltage" so that the difference between the US version at 120V and the "rest-of-the-world" version at 240V is not really a consideration. It fits, it works and it is a really useful addition. Though it *is* a damn pity that Bosch did not deign to make it available here in Australia. (and yes, I'm a bit dark on Bosch for treating us like "the colonies") I'll add a couple of further notes -- this is the base that you want for a router table. I also bought a RA1171 here and the base installs perfectly, (not surprisingly -- Bosch router -- Bosch table) with the height controllable from the top of the table. I'll make a couple of comments about the table in a specific review of it. I also have and use a Leigh dovetail jig. I initially used it with the GOF-1600-CE plunge base. But the fine adjustment necessary for precise dovetails is likely to be easier with this base. But, all negatives aside, this is a really useful accessory for a GOF1600 CE.

Works with a Bosch GOF 1600CE router... with some minor issues.

Firstly, I don't use the MR23 router that's designed for this base. So perhaps my review is a little unfair. I'm doing something, that ISN'T recommended (or even suggested) by Bosch. Having said that, I bought this fixed base to use with a Bosch GOF1600 CE heavy duty plunge router because I couldn't find the official fixed base to buy anywhere. (By anywhere, I mean the entire planet) so I tried this one and it DOES work. However, please note that it can be very difficult to put on at first, and that when doing particularly shallow cuts, the router is firmly, but barely inserted into the base to get a firm grip, there may be a tiny bit of drifting in the depth. So for my purposes, it's not perfect, but it's a lot cheaper than buying a new router, and now that I'm aware of these issues I can adjust my routing accordingly, and if necessary, even use a jig to solve the depth issue. It is a solid piece of kit, well constructed, and I really like the trigger on the grip. It's very comfortable to use, even if I'm using a bigger router than it was intended for.

I am satisfied with this purchase

First say that, in my experience, it is compatible with the GOF 1600 CE. It is incomprehensible that fixed base MRF01 (copy unit, as called Bosch in Europe) can not be purchased separately in Europe. I bought the GOF 1600 CE (the equivalent in Europe to MRP23EVS) without knowing the usefulness of this base, part of the whole GMF 1600 CE (the equivalent in Europe to MRCEVS). When I read the instructions I realized it was almost essential to mount the router on a table; I think now that it is also more practical to use this base that the plunge one (= MRP01), except when it is essential to use the plunge function. I believe that without such fixed base MRF01 you have only 1/3 of the possibilities of the router. Although I have not yet had little opportunity to use it, I am very satisfied with this purchase. In fact, I bought another one to be permanently mounted on the table. It's a shame that Bosch makes us have to import them from the US, thus paying extra costs. I see a problem with this base when mounted on a table : you need to release the locking lever engine whenever you have to make some adjustment in the depth of the cutter.

For anyone using a router table

I paid plenty for a router with both a fixed and plunge base. The plunge base is the most flexible, but the fixed base is simpler and sufficient for most work. When I bought a Bosch router table I attached the fixed base to the table. I didn't want to be taking it off and back on the table, and I didn't want to give up the added flexibility of having both bases available. This gave me back that flexibility.

Great accessory ...

if, like me, you live in a country where Bosch has mysteriously decided not to sell the fixed base for the 1600W router, this is a godsend. Since the control circuit of the router is low voltage, it does not matter if you put an American market 110V motor into the base, or a Euro 230V one - the router works in either case in this base. It is super easy to pull the motor out of the plunge base and insert it in to the fixed base. The fixed base lives in my router table permanently. You can access the height adjustment from the top with a special key that is supplied. Nothing much else to say: it works, and it works about as well as anyone could wish for, in my opinion.

This also fits the 240v Bosch GOF 1600 CE

Well made base that extends the utility of my Australian bought 240v GOF 1600 CE. I specifically wanted this base for mounting under a router table and it is very well designed for that purpose. It has a removable clear sub-base, above table adjustment slot with an allen wrench and the same safety lock that prevents the barrel from falling fully out when removing. One point I noticed in other reviews is that it did not fit for others trying with the GOF 1600 CE. I found this base is about 0.1mm smaller diameter than my plunge base. With a small wiggle and no extra force it dropped in and works well. My guess is that slightly tighter tolerance is to prevent any unwanted slip when removing the barrel in router table mode. A great addition to my router and significantly cheaper than other router lifts i was researching.

Works with the GOF1600

I can confirm that this fixed base works with the GOF1600 router available in Australia. I now have my fixed base on my router table (can adjust it from above the table without a router lift) and easily swap it to my plunge base when wanting to use it outside of the router table.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet but it arrived on time and packaging was very good. Already had the plunge base but wanted to be able to put this into a router table now and then. Bosch does make a solid product and this router is built to last. So far looks great
