Adorable, cuddly, but pricy

This is a super-cute set. It consists of three receiving blankets, a stuffed bear, three pairs of baby booties, a bib and a cap--all in a little gift tote. The colors are muted blue and beige with cream, which is perfect for a little boy and also suitable for a little girl (provided the parents are open-minded about colors and gender-appropriateness). Most of this set is really fantastic. The 100% cotton flannel blankets are soft and cozy. One is blue-and-white striped, the other two are white with colored dots. The bib is also made of cotton flannel and features a little brown bear on the front. The cap is white knitted cotton with a blue dotted cuff. It is designed to fit infants from 0-6 months old. The teddy bear is adorable. Its head and body are made of beige-and-white-striped polyester knit. Its appendages (ears, arms and legs) are beige dotted flannel. It's stuffed with a cushy polyester fiber fill. Unlike some stuffed toys, this one is perfect for Baby, as the eyes and nose are stitched onto the face. There is nothing your little one can pull off and stick into his/her mouth, nose or ears. The only thing I don't like is the socks. They are soft, but made of nylon. This is not good, since the synthetic fibers do not let Baby's feet "breathe." When I wear nylon, my feet stink. I am not sure what will happen to an infant's sensitive skin wearing these. The ad says the tote these all come in is reusable. I am not sure what it would be good for, as it is oddly shaped and flimsy. However, the way the set is packaged in this little cloth pocket makes it perfect for giving as a baby shower gift. Wrapping really wouldn't be required--unless, perhaps, you wanted to wrap it in a clear plastic gift bag with a bit of curling ribbon and a tag. The biggest problem is the price: At almost $70, this set seems way overvalued to me. If you bought similar components separately, you'd probably pay about half as much. I suspect you are paying for the brand-name. It can't be the labor or materials, since this was all made in China. Maybe you could pitch in with a friend to buy it. Or maybe you could spend a little time at a discount store and put something like this together yourself. At a more realistic price, I would heartily recommend this set. Until then, you may want to consider something more affordable.

Adorable welcome set for mom and baby!

Any expectant mother would love this gift basket! My wife is 6 months pregnant (our first child), and she really likes the basket. We'll be able to use it on top of our changing table for lotions, baby powder, wipes, and other things. It's described as a tote, but it can only really be used as a basket. You can't really carry anything in it. The gift set comes exactly as you see in the Amazon photo, except it has a cellophane bag around it (untied at the top). It ships in a large box from Amazon and arrived looking mostly like the photo (but your mileage may vary if it experiences rough transport or handling). Behind the rolls is a large wad of tissue paper and all the items are tethered to each other with clear plastic tag fasteners (commonly found on clothing tags). There's room in the basket for other things, should you wish to put in additional items to give. I put some baby bottles in the tote, for example, until baby arrives. My wife commented that the swaddling blanket would be better if it had velcro closures, but that's the only minor improvement she could think of. I like the bear a lot. It's soft and looks like it's made from a sweater. I'm sure baby will love him too! The bear has a jingle bell inside and makes noise when shaken. It's nice as a gift, but if buying for yourself (or your baby), better options exist. Except for the bear, you can find all the other items individually for a bit cheaper and assemble the kit yourself.

Buy for the convenience; otherwise, steep price

This is a cute little set. The bear is adorable and the "ready to go" set is easy to package and give. The cloths, socks and bib are super soft, and the color scheme says 'boy' with a more modern feel. I like the styling and the cute--but not overly cute--look of the set. The quality seems great --nothing is thin or cheap. But I do have to say that at $70, this set is really pricey for what you get. Yes, it's pre-packaged in the canvas storage tub. The items are arranged nicely and come wrapped in a sealed bag as shown. You can easily put it into a gift bag as is and be all set for a baby shower. But for $70, I could have purchased far more than three socks three small blankets, a bear, a bib and a cap. It seems like it would be a good deal at about half the price, but as is...unless you want the convenience of the packaged and coordinated items, it's a bit over the top. Buy this if you like the look and convenience of the set; skip it if you want better value from individual items. You can easily find coordinating lines of products from solid brands like Carter's.

Nice set, but pricey.

While my wife and I have differing opinions on the value of this set, we both agree that it is attractive, useful, and high quality. Now to the value proposition. This set is obviously intended to be a gift. Purchased separately, each of these items – if of a decent quality – would probably total up to about 35-40 dollars. So, in my opinion, this set is about 75% overpriced. My wife, on the other hand, believes that there is value in the presentation and, therefore, believes that the premium is warranted. She also believes that, in aggregate, this set is of a higher quality than one would expect to find in many other compilations. Because my wife is a far better gift giver than myself, I will concede that this set would probably make a nice and greatly appreciated gift, even if the gift giver might pay a bit of a premium. As a parent, I have no problem admitting that the contents of the set are useful, adorable, and otherwise quality.
