Not Quite What I Expected

I was looking for a play microphone for my 2-year-old. He received a toy as a gift some time ago that had a little microphone on it that worked and he loved it, however that mic was attached to the keyboard and he couldn't walk around with it. That toy also has other music that's pretty annoying, so I was just looking for a little microphone that he could use. This one plays toddler tunes when he pushes the button - a feature he likes but gets bored with quickly. Unfortunately the microphone itself doesn't work well. There is a very small place at the top of the mic that the child needs to speak directly into with their mouth on top of the toy in order for it to slightly work. So this didn't really do what I was looking for. The microphone itself is well-made and cute, the tunes are fun if your child is a bit younger and just wants to push the button...but unfortunately this is not a "real" or play microphone.

My son asked me for a mic like his friend from day care had. I searched online and finally decided to buy this one. It's really good for the price, but I wish it would be easier to record and play. My 2 yr old is too young to coordinate the recording. I wish it also had more songs to play. It only has 8 songs, so my son keeps waiting for more. Also, the songs play in order, so you have to play all songs until you reach the one you want to play. Most of the time, my son accidentally hits the play bottom and wants to hear the same song again, but he has to go though all 7 songs to be able to do that. Mi hijo mayor de 32 meses me pidio un microfono. Hice una busqueda en internet y encontre este que me parecio muy bueno por el precio. Hay ciertas funciones que se podrian mejorar: 1- es muy dificil para los chicos grabar su propia voz. 2- solo hay 8 canciones que tocan en orden. Es muy facil apretar el boton the play accidentalmente y entonces hay que tocar las 7 canciones (o apretar 7 veces el boton play) para poder volver a escuchar la cancion que estaba tocando.

A big hit!

Initially, I wanted this microphone because the colors work so well for a boy (I was a little nervous about not getting to choose, but have ordered two and received a blue one, both times). I wasn't too worried about the functions, only that it looks like a microphone. I knew that my two year old would run around the house with it, using his imagination, and would also be able to sing along with his favorite music shows. The button does need to be held down while recording, and the amplification is not the loudest (which is just fine with me). I pushed the buttons for him at first, then he figured it out and has so much fun! He encourages us to sing into it, too. The first one was misplaced - it went everywhere - so I had to rush order another. The strap is a handy feature. He can put it around his wrist, it can be hung up when not in use, or clipped to a purse or diaper bag. Even the packaging is adorable. We could not be happier with this microphone!

What we wanted

Sound quality isn't great, but my son loves it. We knew before we bought it that it doesn't amplify very loudly, but in all honesty, we actually like the limit on how loud it is, especially with the other features such as the stock songs. would definitely buy again, and exactly what we needed. We wanted an "imaginary" microphone, that had some features, without being a true amplifier. As far as durability, it stands up great to my 3 year old who is quite active and this thing hasn't shown any problem with lots of abuse.

Great toy for toddlers!!

Bought this for 2yr old autistic niece who is working on learning to talk. She loves music so this is perfect. Also bought this for 2yr old friend of my daughter because she would come over and immediately play with the one we own. Her mom said she talked about it all the time at home too. I bought these as gifts because my 3 yr old daughter LOVES hers that she received as a gift. She still plays with it and loves to sing along with the classic tunes it plays like twinkle twinkle little star and skip to the loo. Target used to carry these but it is now unavailable...highly recommend buying this from Amazon!! Note: read instructions...there is a volume...the bottom twists to turn up and down.

My son absolutely loved this. I was actually ok with the volume not being too loud as other reviewers reported so that I don't go mad myself. My wife definitely appreciated it too. The songs were all ones he knew and he happily sings along. The recording and play feature is a little challenging for him as a 2.5 year old but I think it could do well for an older kid.

Toy Microphone

It is exactly what it says it is....a TOY microphone. Will work for children at least 3 years or older. You must punch a button (the star) which sits in the middle of other buttons to make your voice project. My 2 year old was at first fascinated but couldn't figure out to punch the button and talk and walked away from it. I purchased it for my music class as well. It will get the point across but isn't as loud as I would like. I've turned the volume all the way up on the bottom. I would say it is worth $12 and no more. So, if you can find it for that price...go for it. Otherwise, save your money.

2 Year Old Loves It

Ordered a Navy mic, and got a Navy mic. My 2 year old son took it straight out of the box and starting singing on it. He hasn't put it down all day. My wife has showed him how to record his own voice, and he loves to sing to his own recordings. If your child can hold down a button, then they can record their own songs. The song selection on the mic is pretty good. You have to twist the bottom of the mic to adjust the volume. There is also a button up towards the microphone the goes left or right, and allows you to speed up or slow down the music. Item was packaged well and worked straight out of the box, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone that has a toddler.

A fun novelty but overpriced.

I bought this after seeing it recommended online. It is quite fun, but quite expensive for what you get. The record button has to be kept pressed down all the time you're recording (which isn't easy for little fingers). My granddaughter enjoys listening to herself, and listening to the traditional tunes, but I haven't worked out whether it's possible to save the recordings- they appear to be overwritten. The volume isn't great on recordings either. Altogether I'd say it's a bit of a novelty and quite fun, but I did expect it to be better than it is.

Good but Flawed

Firstly, I am so happy that this comes in blue and not some girly colour. It has many features and the music is nicely done and not irritating (the hidden volume knob is a big bonus). However, as far as working as a microphone it's very poor quality. Unless you have the sound volume up to maximum your child's voice cannot be heard at all - even then their mouth has to be touching the toy to be able to work. Also, the fact that you have to hold down the star button to get the microphone to work is troublesome for toddlers to understand. It should just be a quick "on" and "off" button so they don't have to keep pushing it down while they sing.

Cheap and nasty

I bought this as an alternative to a karaoke to ensure my son would enjoy it before I invested. The mic effect is barely even there. Little to no echo at all. Recording time is about half of the song "Twinkle twinkle little star". The playback is crackly and barely comprehensible. The already programmed tunes are the only good thing about this toy. Thankfully my son has fun singing along to those as he can't get much enjoyment out of the other settings unfortunately. Feels light and cheap and probably wouldn't take much to break it

Good. Not perfect...

Very cute. Daughter loves it. Only criticism is that the voice amplifier is not that obvious for little ones - you have to hold the star all the time, and it really does not amplify that much... otherwise, the tunes are cute, you can slow it down (which makes it sound like the battery is low) or speed it up, and you can record and play.
