Love the Old Standard Models
We had a different brand bagless vacuum before, and just weren't pleased with it. Went back to the 'bag' model with this one, and no problems. Just wish the cord was a little longer. Works great! Can't go wrong with a Hoover.

A disappointing successor to better predecessors
I mistakenly thought this would be like the blue Tempo that this is supposed to be the new version of (according to Amazon). But I found out there’s no way to turn off the brush roller and it does not automatically turn off when you disconnect the hose to use the attachments. So for that reason it’s a disappointing downgrade from the version it replaces. Fortunately I have a much better quality Kenmore Intuition bagged upright I can use. But I was hoping to be able to use this at my mom’s house. I wanted something affordable and versatile. I should have just paid a bit more and gotten another Kenmore. Or bought the Hoover Tempo with the ability to shut off the brush rollers. This is okay only if you want an upright and don’t want to use the attachments. I’ve since found a user manual online and still see no way to turn off the brush roller. How does Hoover expect us to safely use the attachments with the roller kicking debris up? Isn’t the newer version of something at least supposed to match the older one in features while improving on something else? This newer model can only offer prettier looks. Also there’s a gap where the door closes to the body. It’s similar to the gap other people have complained of on the Hoover Tempo vacuum. Mine isn’t too bad but it should be a tighter fit than that. It seems to clean my carpet very well of cat hair and cat litter and general debris. I’ve got expensive carpet but it’s probably as old as the house so about 20 years old. So I can’t speak to how well this vac would handle new carpet. It might beat it up too much. The brushes leave deep line tracks in my carpet. I have a couple of Shark Navigators and a Miele canister and a Kenmore Intuition BU4022 bagged upright. The reason I wanted to try a Hoover is that the Shark bagless vacs are a pain to empty. I have to go outside in bad weather to empty the dust collector bin or I’ll end up with a mess inside the house. The Miele is fine and is my basic workhorse. But the turbo carpet attachment is not motorized, so it just doesn’t do a great job on my carpets. It’s best on my hard floors and upholstery. The Kenmore Intuition BU4022 is a good value for the money. I would recommend that one over this vacuum. The attachments work well and the brush roller shuts off when you’re using them. So far the HEPA aspect seems to be working great for me. But it does put out a high pitched whine, so I will need earplugs to use it. Also it’s got a narrower cleaning path and I have a very large house. Also, it’s slightly more expensive and heavier so I decided to try the Hoover and hoped it would be versatile enough to carry over to my mom’s house. Instead, I’ll take an old Shark over there and just accept I’ll be dumping the dust container out in all sorts of weather. For medium carpet that you don’t have to baby, this is fine. So I’m going to assume if you’re on a tight budget and looking for a vacuum that can do it all, the older models that this one was designed to replace are a better value for your money because they have a feature that apparently is gone now. If I am wrong and have somehow overlooked a way to shut off the brush rollers, I’ll amend my review if I am corrected. And…yes, the vacuum still sucks air in front the right and blows it straight out the left side so all of the people who complained about that on the older models can save their money, too. Hoover did not listen to your complaints about that. When I tried to vacuum my hard floors with this vac dust and cat hair went flying around and I’m going to be sneezing and coughing the rest of the day.

Great value for the money.
Works as well as my old vacuum I paid 230 dollars for 22 years ago.

Wear ear protection (not kidding,) and prepare to be underwhelmed
I purchased this to replace a Dirt Devil bagged upright I bought in 2018 that stopped working a few weeks ago. I was already irritated that vacuums barely make it 4 years -- the Dirt Devil had replaced a 3-year-old Hoover -- but at least I only paid $49 for the Dirt Devil, and it had worked adequately until it stopped. I decided to see if the same model was available, but there were only similar bagless versions. I don't know who conned everyone into thinking these were a good idea. Disposing of a vacuum bag is simple and mess-free. I really don't want to take Benadryl and use an N95 mask and goggles just to dump out the filthy contents of a full canister. I decided to spend more money this time, mistakenly believing it would mean a better machine. But I can unequivocally say this vacuum sucks. This vacuum is beastly-heavy and difficult to maneuver. It has no light to see into corners and under tables, so if you want to see while cleaning I guess you could mount a battery tap light, or use your iPhone flashlight. The offboard "tool" is hilarious. I think it is marketed as a stair cleaner. My cheap Dirt Devil had an attachment with a rotary brush that actually worked on stairs and upholstery. This flimsy thing doesn't even make sense because it somewhat obstructs the hose with dinky, plastic ridges. Were they supposed to be brushes? This makes me think someone never followed up with the design, and the manufacturers just built it to the initial sketch. Kind of like Stonehenge in Spinal Tap. I could almost deal with all of that if it weren't for the fact that this thing is seriously loud -- like orders of magnitude louder than any vacuum I've ever had, and I'm 58 years old and got my first apartment when I was 18. I've operated leaf blowers that weren't this loud. I've stood on airport tarmacs that were quieter. Even with my noise-canceling earplugs, this monster gave me tinnitus. My husband mentioned it. My daughter mentioned it. I'm sure the next-door neighbors wondered if I had fired up a wood chipper. What else? Well, it vibrates. Not a little, and not innocuously, but enough to make my hands feel buzzy and burning after 15 minutes of vacuuming. And after all this? It still doesn't have the suction of my old less-than-$50 Dirt Devil. Over and over I rolled, no light to assist, like pushing a wheelbarrow loaded with bricks ... and the dog hair still didn't come up without a LOT of work. My house is ordinary. It's dusty, not filthy. I wasn't trying to clean an abandoned building—just a regular home with low-pile rugs and hardwood floors. I've hated buying appliances for the last 20 years. Everything is disposable. Nothing ever works as well as ANY version I had decades ago, not even if I pop for an expensive brand. (I had a Dyson before the Hoover. It lasted 5 years.) Nothing is repairable, so into the landfill with another pile of junk every few years. Late-stage capitalism is a dirty business. And because of it -- because of corporate greed and cut-corners and cheaply-made/profit-maximized crap-- there isn't even an affordable vacuum to clean it up. Don't buy this.

Mixed feelings
It cleans great. It has bags (I thought I was the only one in the world who hated bagless vacuums!) But It doesn’t come with a brush attachment! :( AND IT MAKES A HUGE MESS WHEN USING THE HOSE!! When using an accessory on the hose, it looks like the suction is diverted away from the agitator, and dust and dirt ends up shooting out of the agitator section. Ugh. Has anyone else noticed this? Would give it 2.5 stars, but as longs as I don’t use the hose it does clean the carpets quite nicely!

Best vacuum since my last Hoover!
I love that this vacuum is as strong and powerful as the heavy duty one I had since 1995. It weighs much less and works just as hard. Perfect! I went through several other brands (including Dyson) over the years but Hoover has been the best for us!

Has very good suction power
This vacuum has excellent suction power. Like most products these days it has a plastic feel. It's lightweight but is slightly difficult to vacuum carpet (it doesn't roll as easily as I am use to). It also vacuums very well on hard floors. It has good value for the price. Since I have only had it for a month, I do not know how long it will last.

True to its description .
I bought this for my 85 year old mother. She has used this type of Hoover vacuum cleaner for years. It’s much lighter in weight than those of past years. It passed her test????
